Arrived late after delayed flight to Sacramento. Front desk staff very friendly. Room was small in an older property but was renovated...very clean, good TV and new mattress. Shower height was designed for a VERY short person but no issues with water pressure and heat. Room AC was a little noisy; highway noise would bother some people but not us. Breakfast was minimal at best, but I usually skip the breakfasts at budget hotels. Good deal for the money. Travel plans changed such that we passed through Merced again several days later. Came without reservation and earlier discounted rate honored. New room was upstairs, just as clean, with tub and shower perfect for a 5 FT. person but no issues with water pressure/heat. Good overall experience. Skip the breakfast.
Online reviews were badly mistaken. This is an older Hotel of cinder block Construction badly in need of renovation. Try somewhere else in Merced. The only real bright spot was one of the first Rooms Unlimited ended trip it had lamps that allowed you to read in the room. From the CRT television to the cracked and rusted sink in the bath this place deserves lower ratings than it has online.
Stayed here twice & left relaxed & rested. Cozy rooms, comfortable bed, micro, mini-fridge, coffe maker, hairdryer. Very quiet j the family that runs it is just lovely. I had a problem with the tv on my first visit & before I hung up the phone they were at the door! Reasonably priced also.
We stayed here after visiting Yosemite because it was the best of the terrible looking hotels in the area that were available. Staff at the front desk were kind, but there was some sketchy activities in the parking lot. Plus the freeway noise was very loud, breakfast was minimal (clementine, stale looking corn flakes, weak coffee with dry creamer, packaged pastries and Sunny D orange drink), and the rooms were dingy. fortunately there were no bugs or critters! Definitely would not stay here again!
I've stayed a few other Rodeway Inns and this one is the best so far. The room was clean and comfortable and everything in it was working properly (not always the case in a budget hotel). If you're on a tight budget I'd recommend this inn.
My husband and I recently stayed at this motel. It is a budget motel but it offers a clean, affordable place to stay. It had basically everything we needed- refrigerator, microwave, internet. It also has a nice swimming pool. The front desk is also very friendly and helpful.
We were just passing through on our way to Yosemite, and this place was a good spot for an overnight stay. It's close to the highway, clean, with a decent breakfast in a very small area. Not a memorable stay, but would definitely stop again.
We loved it because we were on a budget this past weekend, but really, really wanted to go to Yosemite National Park and needed somewhere in the vicinity of Yosemite to stay that was cheap. With a 2-year-old, I'm not quite ready for tent camping, so we wanted a hotel room. For $80/night (this was a Friday and a Saturday, so $80 is the weekend rate) and 90 minutes from the park, this place was perfect. RIGHT on the highway, we of course could hear highway traffic, but it wasn't too obnoxious and with the room A/C and fan on, it pretty much drowned it out. ... And, the owners/front desk couple were super, super nice. And the room was clean. Oh, one small complaint - the pillows were all new but HUGE; like super fat, overly fluffy pillows. None of us could keep our heads on them, especially the baby. Flatter pillows would be nice. :) The free breakfast was a self-described "very, very simple breakfast," and that it was - some milk provided in a little refrigerator in the hot, tiny lobby with some Frosted Flakes in a container and a bowl of oranges. But, hey, whatever. It was nice to give the baby a bowl of cereal and take an orange with us for the road. We did make a Starbucks stop for coffee and iced tea on our way into the park. :)
Stayed on 07/06/16 – 09/06/16 - Rodeway Inn, 1001 Motel Drive, Merced, CA 95340 Two couples were travelling together undertaking an epic road-trip covering Nevada, Arizona and California over a three week period – day 16 & 17. We chose this budget hotel in Merced as it was the closest we could get to visit Yosemite the next day; this was still around a 2-hour drive though. The staff behind the reception counter was very helpful upon arrival but check-in was quite laboured as there were several forms to complete manually rather than just ‘signing on the dotted line’. We stayed in the ground floor Rooms 110 & 111 which were inter-connecting. This is generally a non-smoking hotel although I believe that some rooms do have the smoking option. You will need to ensure that you are for the correct room type. The room was tired looking in some respects but clean including the linens and towels. The curtains had lots of small tears in them but did not let enough light through to disturb our night’s sleep. The room offered an old looking air conditioning unit which was quite noisy but it worked. There was some storage by way of a chest of drawers under the TV and two bedside tables. There were no dedicated USB charging points. There were several spare electrical outlets and as we always take 4-way extension leads, power was covered. The room had a single queen bed, a TV, coffee maker and hair drier. An iron and ironing board was available from the office. The shower was OK but the shower head (although adjustable) was too low for taller people. This means that you will have to crouch to wash your hair. There was no bath in this room but there was in Room 111. Plenty of hot water was available. Free secured Wi-Fi was available which was fairly high-speed. There was a communal ice machine located externally near to the office and was free to use. There was a free breakfast buffet on offer but this was extremely basic. There was coffee and orange juice but not from machines. Available food was two types of cereal, a bit of fruit and a section of sweet ‘Danish’ pastries. There was free onsite parking. This hotel offered and unheated outdoor pool which was very refreshing considering the heat when we arrived. The hotel was close to the Highway 99 and a railroad track. With the air conditioning (A/C) off you can hear the road traffic and trains. Setting the A/C to a low cool setting, it measured around 70 dB at 1 meter (circa 3 feet) and around 60 dB at the bedhead with this particular room configuration…we still slept with this A/C on though. The road traffic was an average 60 dB but with the A/C unit being closer it ‘drowned’ out the road noise and kept us cool. Please refer to the hotel’s website for other information on the amenities provided. The hotel was within 1.5 mile walk of the main restaurant area and other shops and services (around 30 minutes walk). I believe that there is both a zoo and an air museum nearby; again please check the map to see what else is nearby. Temperatures were around 35 °C (95 °F) during our brief stay in Merced. We found a very good place to eat during the evening about 30 minutes walk away from the hotel called The Branding Iron...we received concessions for this restaurant via a voucher given to us at check-in.
Hotel is definitely in need of updating room decor, but everything was clean. Service excellent, staff very helpful. Did not use pool but it looked clean. Our room had 3 queen beds, perfect for us. Did not go to breakfast, was told it was very simple.
