When we first arrived, we noticed a bit of weeds around the property which was a little concerning, but not necessarily a deal breaker. Inside the first thing that hit us was the smell. It was awful. Stale and musty and definitely cigarettes. Maybe it just needed to air out. But the windows were already open and it was quite breezy inside. The advertisement clearly listed it as a “no smoking” rental and that was a must for me as my son has health issues. We walked around inside trying to come to terms with the fact that we wouldn’t be able to stay here and would now have to find last minute arrangements for our weekend. It only got worse. There were stains on the couch, black build up around back toilet and shower area, no locked door between the rental and a shared laundry area. It was all too much. I immediately called our contact, who stated they were a property management. I told them I couldn’t stay there and explained my son’s health issues. I told them I needed a refund as this was not as advertised. They offered to clean it, and while I appreciate the offer, it wasn’t going to fix the air quality not to mention it was already the end of a long day for us. I repeated my request for a refund. They said they had to call the owner. When they got back to us it was to tell us the owner said if we cancel our reservation we couldn’t get our money back. What does that even mean? They refused to refund our money. We will complain to Vrbo, but renter beware.
