Dropping off luggage wasn’t easy to park in front. Streets are well… LA. However the parking lot a little down the street was so nice. Room was so cute and cozy. The noise level was NOT as bad as I had assumed with a DJ playing in the lounge.

Super groovy

This hotel is super chic. The room was really nice with cool furniture and a comfy bed. Lots of amenities included with the room: yoga mat, turntable and vinyl, earplugs, coffee/tea set up, eco friendly toiletries. The building has an interesting history; don’t let the plain facade fool you. Lounge is adjacent with vinyl DJs and live music. We popped into LA for a show at the Hollywood Bowl and the lounge and lux bed were the perfect end to a great evening.

Gold Diggers is an absolute gem of a place and I can't wait to come back. The team went out of their way to manage my luggage around my schedule and the room itself was very unique and comfortable. Massive bonus is the incredible bar and recording studio attached to the property. Highly recommend.

Unique with a capital U

There’s “unique,” and then there’s Gold-Diggers, a five star boutique hotel above a sound studio and small venue night club. Music is the theme! Vinyl turntable in room. vinyl house gift too, along with drink tokens and access to whatever show is happening downstairs. Incredibly helpful staff, but be prepared, the staff is also working the sound studio and everyone goes home at 6pm. After that you’re on your own, more like a high end hip guest house than a hotel. The room was SO comfortable. Gigantic bed, excellent amenities. Only downside is parking/loading in:loading out. There’s no parking at facility, not even for a temporary “get all your bags out of your car and into lobby at check in.” As a result, you will be walking two blocks with all your stuff through a not great neighborhood. Part of the charm, for sure, but definitely wouldn’t want to do it alone late at night. Would definitely stay here again but maybe with a friend and in an Uber.

Faultless people service and room, quirky but super. Compromise on location and noise, probably suit younger folk better but us 60 somethings enjoyed our stay. We had come for a specific purpose so could not use all the lovely hospitality shown by the staff at the hotel but perhaps another time. Some really nice touches and well loved establishment.

The hotel is very chic but is above a bar and some rooms can have a bit of noise if there is a performance downstairs. Parking is a block away and is included with the room which is such a bonus for inner LA. The area does seem a bit sketchy at night but we didn't have any issues.

I loved the unique vibe of this spot. The room was spotless and well appointed with good amenities. LOVED the turntable and vinyl! When was the last time you stayed up past midnight playing scrabble in bed while listening to an album. Memorable! Know that you will hear music and talking late into the night so bring your noise cancelling headphones. We arrived late, after 6 when there is no staff on property. It was a challenge to get in and the parking lot was a little sus. Would stay here again. Unique property!

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay in this fun and historic hotel. I feel bad giving a mixed review for Gold Diggers. They were so nice and accomodating and pushed our reservation out a couple days when our flight was canceled. The room is thoughtfully decorated and well appointed, and we loved having the record player and fun vinyl collection. Loved the shower. The problem was location, location, location. I didn't realize when I booked the room that it was on a pretty rough part of Santa Monica Boulevard complete with homeless folks, graffiti, super-fast traffic, and a dirty, rundown neighborhood. The worst part was when the band in the bar downstairs started up. They provide ear plugs, but it's impossible to ignore the pounding bass and drums until 2am. If you're planning on being downstairs in the bar partying until early morning (they provide two free drink tokens and entry to the bar for hotel guests), this could be the perfect place for you to sleep. We decided we weren't young and hip or old and deaf enough for this place to be a good fit for us. The parking lot is a block away. After dark, they use a heavy padlock to ensure the safety of guests' cars. If you go out for dinner and need to park afterward, you'll need to diagonally pull in quickly from the 40-mph traffic to the short entry to the lot while you enter the combination into the padlock and pull back the fence. When you see the tagged wall on one side of the lot, you'll be grateful for the padlock. If you like to sleep at night, this is probably not the place for you.
