Check in was very friendly, getting situated was easy. Over all, one notch below the HIE hotels (Holiday Inn Express) but good enough for what we wanted, 2 nights on a business trip. Very comfy bed, nice bath, A.C./Heat worked well. Our first night had people stomping back and forth in the room above us most of the night on and off. Very difficult to sleep and after complaints to the front desk, not much was done about it. Next time we call police. Granted, not the fault of the hotel but the building does resonate terribly in some frequencies which makes you feel like you are in a bass drum at times. We were able to move to a room on the 3rd floor which was much better. Breakfast offers the usual scrambled eggs, sausage, all adequate, and very good waffles. The coffee machine was automated and should be scrapped. It worked well enough but seemed to glitch at times. The attendant was a bit gruff and wanted to interfere with getting food items, just weird and a bit intrusive. Parking was nice, under the building on two levels. Overall, a good experience but people are very inconsiderate and loud. For the price, a good stay and above average. Would like to see better insulation, however. We did not try the pool, about the size of a wading pool. No Jacuzzi though. That would have been great. We might spring for a nicer facility next time but rarely do we land in Burbank so it isn't likely. Verdict: some things good, others need improvement. Would opt for nicer facility next time unless we had a reason to be in the immediate vicinity. Yes, there are better choices but this is a nice hotel for the money. It is clean and comfortable.
Everything you need is just minutes away or outside your door. I wish for the price, that the pool was deeper and a jacuzzi was offered. Other than that, decor is a bit outdated but clean. The staff was great!
Great location, service and comfortable bed. But was disappointed, I thought I was getting 2 beds instead I got 1 bed and 1 coach bed. For the amount I paid should have been 2 beds. Staff was great, especially breakfast attendant.
It was so-so with advantage of being close to business. See below re desk clerk’s attitude towards guests I watched. I am a member of BW and only stay for business, but in my book this is ranked lower than most other BW. I hope you can read this with capital letters as customer service kicked this back because they don’t know how to read English in capital letters.
Poor breakfast: stuff coming out the freezer like bread. All prepared food, outdated rooms. Looks like you stepping in a time machine. Way overpriced for what you get back for your bucks. No bar or such to hangout.
Blechhhhh Best western "plus" is a stretch. Super tiny uninspiring lobby. Room looks in need of updating. Even the kids said "we better wear socks in here!" Tv is great- nice big clear picture with lots of Channels. Clock radio iPod dock (for iPhone/iPod 4 only) was not functional. If you have more than 2 devices total, forget it. We had to unplug the microwave to find space to plug in for 3 devices. Serious lack of outlets in here. Shower pressure very low, despite the several settings. Needed extra pillow and blanket- front desk said to come get them, so we walked down at 10 PM only to be told "we are out" Really poor customer service. Expected MUCH more for a Plus property, especially a Plus property demanding $200+/night. This place is MAYBE a $139/night. Won't stay here again, which is too bad because it's in a good location.
I really like the position of this hotel, walking distance to work. For years, it has been one of the least expensive hotels in the area, so the convenience, 'simple-ness', and price made it the best hotel to use. Over the last year, the hotel has improved very marginally -- the breakfast is a little better, the beds are a little nicer, but the price has gone up so dramatically I won't be staying there in the future.
We stayed in the 2 BR suite, and it was fabulous! 3 Queen beds in all. Another Queen could have easily fit in the space between the dining table and the living area. Sink, mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the kitchen. Large TVs in the living room and each bedroom. Close to plenty of food options, and 3 blocks from Starbucks. Situated on the backside of Universal Studios, so less than a 10 minute drive. Free underground parking. Couldn't be better! This is now the standard from which all other hotels will be judged. We will ALWAYS look for a Best Western Plus when we travel.
Stayed two nights. First night was fine - everything went well. Second night I watched a movie and went to bed a little after midnight. Around 1 AM a group of young people that were part of a tour group came back to the hotel after a night out and made a tremendous amount of noise. Laughing, running, playing music, etc. This went on for a couple hours. I tried to call the front desk and the phone didn't work, fortunately, since I was in a suite it had a second phone. After calling the noise continued until after 3 AM. At 6 AM somebody in the group started playing music real loud. Worst night in a hotel in years - worst nigh at a Best Western ever!
First, I'm a Diamond Member of BW. Second, let's start on what's good. Parking is complimentary and the place is clean. Now the not-so-good. The alarm clock was 7-8 hours off without the ability to change it. No plugs in lamps by bed. Had to move out nightstand and get in behind for outlet. Got up to make coffee. Coffeepot plug runs through countertop and down behind fridge -- was unplugged! Had to move fridge to plug it in -- not a 5am friendly chore. If outlets are important to you, avoid this place.
