We loved the quirkiness of the very old building. Squeaky floor boards and old plumbing all mixed together with very comfy beds and lovely staff made for a very nice stay here. The closeness of Kensington Gardens was an added bonus.

First of all, I absolutely LOVED staying at this property. What a cool place and an interesting part of town and close to the tube. Although the hotel is past its heyday, it still is majestic, has much charm and the rooms are clean and comfy. Staff was friendly, happy hour was relaxing and breakfast was very nice. I would definitely stay there again!

Ideally located ... but dated.

Friendly staff, helpful. Clean and confortable bed, with useful desk in room. Really good central location close to everthing we needed while in London Very dated, carpets of age with deteriation. Door undercut to let alot of light through during the night. Bathroom clean but age does not help. Hairs in bath.

We loved the Columbia. Spent 5 days there The building architecture is fabulous. The staff is great. The room is nice with good views of Kensington Gardens. About 7 minutes walk to the underground station, which takes you anywhere you want to go

Family room roomy and great location

Family room was comfortable, location is great between 2 tube stops and an easy walk to Paddington Station. Heaps of food and grocery options around and right across the road from huge park. Parking is first come first served c.o.d. 1 small lift for the whole building was a bit slow. Water pressure was good.

Don’t Stay There

Very disappointed in the OLD ROOMS. Stayed there 12+ years ago & facilities same as back then and they weren’t flash then. Very few amenities in room, no tissues 2 tiny body wash/hair shampoo in one. No conditioner. No face washer. Shower in old green bath tub. No Fridge. Old worn carpet with a hole in it outside lift to go up to room. Old heavy windows with paint cracked and what appeared to be wood rot. Filthy balcony out window that hadn’t been cleaned or attended to for years littered with cigarette butts along with the dirt. 2 dirty old Perspex pieces along outside frame which I assume was to try & stop someone getting in. Very hot stuffy room with open window with no fly screen to let air in that couldn’t be left open at night because of security reasons. Overall old & dowdy and over a waste of the $900 AU it cost to stay there.

Great service and location, hotel odd but nice

First of all, the staff are amazing. Super friendly and helpful. The location is great too. Just as in the pictures the hotel is a bit... eclectic. With 60's wood paneling, 70's avocado bathroom, 80's wallpaper and 90's carpet it was still all clean and in perfectly good order. I actually enjoyed the mishmash and it does give the room certain character. The breakfast was really disappointing. No cooked component at all. Not even a boiled egg - nothing, nada, zip. Breakfast room is grandiose to say the least, which was nice, but it's an oddly curated collection of furniture. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the park. Good view but I recommend you request a room on 1st or 2nd floor as the windows may be larger there. Overall, I was really pleased with this hotel, bar the sad looking breakfast, and will come again. Staff were amazing and really tried their best always.
