Wouldn’t use this Ramada hotel again.

We have stayed in a Ramada hotel before elsewhere and it was lovely but this one was well run down, the staff overall were lovely but the cleanliness of the rooms were absolutely terrible. We had to get our room changed due to mould all up the curtains and especially in the bathroom, there is very poor ventilation in the bathroom so was mould everywhere. Rooms were very hot and the windows can’t be opened, air con doesn’t work very well, we did have a fan that we took from our first room to help with the heat. There was ants on the breakfast area near the juice and also my sister had an ant infestation in her room. The kids beds are so uncomfortable you can feel the springs on the mattresses, we did ask for extra bed covers which they gave us to try help make the beds more comfortable but both kids still said it didn’t help. We asked for our room to get cleaned with fresh towels and bedding which never happened so we complained about it, they gave us towels and emptied the bins but did do bedding the next day but never hoovered the room once whilst we stayed. The plug situation is terrible, there is no plugs next to the beds for charging your phones and there was only 2 plugs in the entire room one which we had the fan on constant so only left us with one plug to charge or use so ended up buying an extension with plugs on it so we were able to charge all our things etc. Sister was given a travel cot but it was covered in stains so requested a new one which she got.

Unfortunate stay

Unfortunately it was not the stay we had expected Firstly we emailed the hotel directly for best method of arrival / no reply Gentleman on the desk was extremely courteous On route to room it was obvious this hotel needs updating then arrival of the room the toilet had urine on the seat/ never mind what else we found on the toilet seat…. We did think ok lets clean this ourselves then the final straw was the blood staining on the sheets / courteous man at desk was very embarrassed he changed our room immediately Unfortunately we wont be back!

Comfortable bed, clean and tidy room! Staff very helpful & polite. Used restaurant for dinner, and food was very good, reasonably priced too. One issue is the £5 parking charge on check-out! The system will not let you complete the check-out process until you make the payment. Irrespective if you have paid parking in advance to check-in (HGV parking account with SNAP).

The location is in the middle of M1 highway. It takes at least 6 miles to get to any reasonable place. The facility is kind of run down but acceptable.

Use some improvement

The bed itsself was ok however there was only 2 pillows for 2 people whoch are very thin when i went to reception to ask for more i waa told they will be brought up. I had to call down 1hr later to see where they were and when someone came up they said they could only find 1. It was a hot day so was happy when i saw a fan however only had 1 plug socket for 1 thing. Have had a fan 2 phones and other things to change so could only pick 1 thing. Could also do with some cups in there as we was having to use the cup given for tea/coffee and cold drinks.

loud

Not a particularly well equipped room. Booked a triple family room, a grand total of 4 pillows between 3 beds. 1 Coffee cup between the three of us. Air con motor was quite loud. The train line is very noisy, there is little / no insulation to this. If I stay again, I will ask for a room the other side as it woke us all up in the night

We went to breakfast, there wasn’t any cutlery, croissants, very little gluten free options. The paint is peeling from the walls in the bathroom. The rooms were roasting and the windows wouldn’t open. The children slept on mattresses on the floor. When we checked in, we discussed how my booking said ‘free breakfast’ and the staff member laughed out loud at me until his colleague told him it was true. He also told me that they tried to take payment and it declined- he said this in front of everyone. I told him it said ‘payment on arrival’ on my booking and that they shouldn’t have attempted to take money from my account- this didn’t happen by the way. I get all updates from my bank on my app. All in all, I wouldn’t stay here again, ever.

Disappointing average stay.

Considering that this is a well known chain of hotels, i would consider this one to be average. The reception staff need to listen to the customer and repeat back what they understand. As my account was a mix up with another room that i was also paying for so NO CHARGES should have gone on that room, and i asked to be able to charge to my room, which again was NOT initially set up. The bedroom windows didnt open the "air con" just moved the air around well a desk fan could have done that. The breakfast food was warm at best, the toast and coffee was the hottest items available. The evening meals however where GREAT really nice and well worth the money. Just all in all sadly average.

Hell, better off sleeping in the back of a van

Not enough staff, staff having to run bar and reception so kept people waiting. Filthy all the way throughout the hotel. Strong smell of smoke and weed in the room and corridors. Bathroom was mouldy and smelly. Dust everywhere. One available socket for charging phone. Faulty thermostat, the room got too hot which made the smell worse. Extremely rude housekeeping staff that was speaking aggressively towards us but in another language waving and huffing at us.
