I cant believe the reviews on here for this place, we stayed here and the lifts are working, looks brand new so perhaps its wasnt fitted before? People are seriously complaining about noise, in central london? If you dont want noise at night in a major city then go stay in the country side! Yes the windows dont do much for the sound but they are sash windows thats just how they are, its an old building that wouldnt be allowed double glazed upvc in the centre of london. The check in process needs work, ill agree on that one, we said we'd be there at 18.30 and were early so called their mobile to have no one answer. We found another couple who were entering the building and asked them how they got their keys and they said to ring the bell outside. This got the guy out to check us in. Perhaps they should add that to their check in process or booking email? The room itself was well equipped, not that we needed any of it. The bathroom did smell of damp but it didnt really bother us. The bed though was bloody awesome, not only was it HUGE it was really comfy and i don think it was the 3am bed and copious amounts of alcohol that induced such a satisfying sleep! It does get loud in the morning and it was pretty warm in there too but I put the fan on as hum drowned out the noise outside as well as cooling the room. I'd definitely stay here again, (room 13 on the 4th floor) as for the money £125 a night for this location was really good value.
Arrived, waited a short time for the girl to arrive, had to wait out in street. Climbed up three flights of stairs, all uneven and it was so very smelly, like damp. The flat was very nice but tiny, nowhere comfortable to sit, everything appeared to be new and was very clean. The toilet/shower was the smallest space ever, no matter what you were doing in there, you touched the hurning hot towel radator, it was so impractical, no room to move. The bedroom window did not close properly therefore did not lock, the draught made the blinds bang all night. There was no fire safety equipment or instructions, being three flights up, if there had been a fire... . The windws in kitchen/seating are were very low and opened easily, well, one did, the other was painted closed, not great for kids. The bed and the sofa bed were very very uncomfortable. The location is the only thing you could not fault. Gay bar opposite, but never any trouble with noise. Everything was so close by. As I have said, nice new appliances, however no instructions, we could not turn on cooker hobs, tried everything, managed to turn on oven, no area to store foo, cupboard space was non existent, pots etc were kept in them. In a nutshell, kitchen nice to look at but not practical, place is only suitable for a couple, at best. Tiniest appartment I have ever seen.
We came 8 people after booking two large flats. Only they had available a studio for 2 people and a flat for 4 people. We used two hours discussion with them but the did not have the second 4 pax flat. Shame on you. We had to go and find another hotel in London on a Friday afternoon.
After reading some reviews on trip advisor I tried to cancel the booking,however I must say I am glad I didn't as the apartment is in a fantastic location,I was met by Maya and he was so helpful. The apartment itself was clean and well equipped, I must say it is. Home from home I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Piccadilly Apartments at all and will definetly use again.
Upon arrival with all our luggage we found out the lift did not work and we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs with our large heavy suitcases. It was winter and when we went to shower after a long overnight plane journey we found there was no hot water and the heating did not work. Despite many calls, emails and sms to the letting agent and their promises to come immediately they never showed. We had to cancel plans and then boil water on the stove to bathe. Luckily we were only there for 2 nights but it was a very unpleasant experience. Judging by the other reviews from people it is not a one off. They should be ashamed to rent it to people in this condition. Internet never worked, hot water and heating not working and apartment was very dirty.
Disappointed with the standard of this apartment. Bed mattress was stained, mound in bathroom, we had to open the window (in winter!!) to let the steam out. We were met in an alley way and there was rubbish dumped outside the door that we had to walk over. The lift was broken so we had to carry 4 suitcases up 3 flights of stairs! Nothing worked ie the fridge door didn't close properly, the power points were dodgy and loose (dangerous). The hall carpet was filthy and I said to the lady who met us "the room would want to be better than this or I'm not staying here". The only savior was the location. In saying that there is a bar or nightclub underneath in the same alleyway, so it was very noisy during the night! Swearing etc going on! Our two boys had to sleep on a filthy old sofa bed and it was uncomfortable for them too! Poky and not as it looked in the photos! And we paid $1200 Australian $ for this. It should not be allowed to be on the booking.com listing!
After booking this through booking.com we were excited to see our studio apartment with a city view. We turned up to a back alley door with five flights of stairs and no working lift. As we went up the stairs there appeared to be faeces on the walls. We got into the apartment which was more of a flat and it was nothing like the pictures !! infact a totally different place. We had no running water for the first night and no working telly. There wasn't even a mirror. We complained on the first night and somebody came out (very apologetic) and said we would be moved the next morning (this never happened i may add) On the second day we still had no water and asked for a partial refund. This was agreed (but still hasn't happened) They could not move us into another apartment and left us with no water (no shower in the 2 days we were there) Weekend totally ruined. In the end after many complaints the owners stopped answering our calls and myself and my husband are looking to take this further. Please do not book here. I dont want this place to spoil anybody elses weekend. I have never complained on here before but this experience was just horrific.
Billed on our third party booking site as 4 star, wouldn't even give it one. Arrived in december for a room with no heating. The photos advertised on various sites was a world away from what we had - no heating, stained bedding, dangerous electrics, not a single picture on the wall, broken window latches, scuffed floor, Broken bead, half lighting not working, tv remote not working-unable to change channels, massive scratch on tv, shower manky and covered in limescale. Avoid at all costs, emails since have been ignored
My mother treated me to a getaway in London in December and actually changed from a hotel in Kensington to this place, in order to be in a better location and for nicer rooms.. that is not what we got. Yes the location is amazing, but the room we got was horrendous. Broken tv, lipstick stains above the bed, lights not working, no heater. We could not change the channel on the tv and there was a big, deep scratch on it, there were various stains across the walls, the floor was in a state, there were many lights not working, there was one very dangerous open socket where a switch should have been and it freezing. It was December and it was cold, there was no sign of a heater in the room so we called and asked about it, we were told there was one in the wardrobe but there wasn't. The woman said she would bring us one, which was fine, at least we were getting one. But did not show up. So we spent the night with no heating. We called to complain the next morning (as they were not around in the evening to answer calls) and got a heater eventually, but it was a pathetic little thing that barely created any heat. You could forgive some of the smaller issues like the lights and the floor but it is like they did not care about the place being in the state it was. All in all, a terrible experience and definitely not worth the price.
We had no hot water (it wasn't even running out of the tap so we could have a cold shower!). We complained continually, the plumbers didn't turn up until the evening of the our last night. They offered to take me to another apartment to have a shower and didn't turn up, finally offered another apartment on the last night at 4 in the afternoon whilst we were having strip washes (with kettle) as we had a black tie dinner to attend and needed to leave at 5 - I had explained this previously on a number of occasions. They did replace the light bulb in the bathroom after 24 hours and left the bare fitting dangling from two unprotected wires. They have asked me to send an email to the manager who will get back to me in a week!!! I have never complained on Tripadvisor before and we travel away on business at least 10 ten times a year.
