The manager at the front desk was the only thing good I could say about this place. He was wonderful! Filthy room, rug, bathroom, etc. (I refused to shower there) Parking lot out back hooks up to a strip club, not a good location. Bed not made, no blanket, one pillow, bed sinks in the middle, dusty. I locked the windows, yes they open. AC doesn't work. We asked for another pillow, mgr brought pillow, noticed unmade room and brought us a blanket. We slept on top of the blanket. Couch had burn marks from iron and was lopsided. TV hard to watch due to static. Food left in fridge. Had family emergency call and had to leave asap, left in am. We could not stay and left. We would not stay here again.
Lobby was nice and clean, sheets were clean, staff was nice but the pros stop there. A/C didn't work, window wouldn't stay open, no fan in the bathroom, although it sounds like there is but that's the ice machine across the hall. Carpet was dirty, night able was disgustingly dirty, phone was dirty, too scared to look in fridge, coffee maker was dirty with only 1 paper cup and still contained used coffee pack from previous guest. Only 2 bath towels and 1 face cloth for a room with 2 double beds. Had to go to front desk for more towels, should have also asked for more toilet paper as there was less then half a roll and we ran out. We were in town for The Mane Event and booked a room late so this was our only option, lesson learned, we will book earlier in the future.
First off, this isn't in the nicest area of London, so don't expect to be comfortable to walk around etc. The lobby is small, and the staff were courteous but I felt it was a little basic and outdated. The elevator is scary, take the stairs if you can. The rooms are ok but were not the cleanest. I didn't want to take off my shoes or lay under the covers. Eventually I did, the beds were uncomfortable and squeaked every time you moved. I didn't take advantage of the breakfast, people I was travelling with went down and brought things back to the room. They didn't comment on the offerings. If you're going to an event at the AgriPlex or the Casino, the location is very close.
I'm not sure what they have renovated other than the sink which was very modern, but the carpet and couch were old. The front desk was somewhat helpful. I called down stairs to ask for a channel lineup for the TV, and said they didn't have one. The bed was alright, but I wouldn't stay here again unless I was in a crunch.
The rooms, bathrooms, and hallways were clean. Breakfast was simple but good. Shila the GM was very helpful and friendly at the front desk! As well as the rest of the staff there. Our stay was pleasant, we brought our dog with us and as this was a pet friendly, this was perfect place for us. We're hoping to come back soon. - Mary P
Don't go to the "Econolodge" expecting 5 star furnishings. This is a reasonably priced hotel in a more run down part of London. It's right across the street from the Western fairgrounds and all its going-ons. About a 7 dollar uber or 20 minute walk to downtown. I found the room clean and comfortable. A fresh coat of paint has been recently slapped on. The furniture has obviously had years of good use and is a little shabby, but that's not really worth caring about. The bathroom was immaculate. Toiletries are only soap and shampoo - a small bottle of hand cream might have been a nice addition during these dry months. For the price, I got exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. Thank you for a comfortable stay!
This is my second time staying at the Econolodge ,and it was excellent. I was very pleased with the new renovations in the hotel. The staff and front desk were very friendly, and they made sure I had a good time. My room was clean and I had no problems. I look forward for my next stay at the Econlodge when I come to London.
Booked the room based on the recent remodel work noted. Sadly was not very good. Hair in the sink, pulled back the covers and hair on pillows and bed sheets. Ceiling was poorly patched, bath vent was falling out of ceiling... Lesson learned.
The 5 star hotel I was supposed to stay in was full so I found Econo Lodge, which turned out offer a really great four-day stay in the midst of a winter-blizzard. Suite 203 is a magnificent very quiet 2-room corner suite with great heating and a WiFi that is better than anything I have seen in the best hotels. Friendly and attentive staff. I can strongly recommend it.
Another positive feature of the large, comfortable Suite 203 is its heating system (important in Canadian midwinter). The two rooms of the suite have separate heaters. Each is very powerful, especially given the sixe of the rooms, and can be turned off for quite a while after running for a short time. The London, Ontario Econo Lodge's laundry room makes It an especially good place to stay near the end of a long trip. The machines are clean, fast, efficient, and reasonably priced. Unlike many places, the dryer is very hot, and so doesn't take very long.
