Really a great way to end our Zambian safari. The rooms were great and the huge pool was perfect for the kids. We enjoyed the meals and the staff arranged everything for us making it very easy for us. We had a wonderful tour of the falls and a great Rhino walk that we will always remember. Even though we had lost our bags the staff was amazing and the Robin Pope Safaris staff helped get us a refund with our travel insurance .....thanks Munyara
It was a wonderful surprise to arrive at this beautiful family run lodge, there is no signpost. The lodge is stunning with views to the falls and the sound of lions from the property next door. The rooms are all beautiful and well equipped some with log fires. The food is delicious and tables are set up in and around the garden, pool and main lobby. I highly recommend this beautiful lodge. The Lodge is run beautifully by Jonathan the GM and his wife Sylvia. I am looking forward to my return one day.
The location, the view, the staff, the food are all the best. Our group of 5 stayed there for one night and wish we had booked a longer stay. The on staff guide was very helpful and took us around Victoria Falls. Dinner at the lodge was excellent and our every whim was taken care of in a friendly and professional manner.
We stayed in the family room for three nights in April and loved everything about this place. The open room design was wonderful. The host and staff were very helpful. The falls can be seen in the distance. We did not have a vehicle so the lodge assisted with all the tours and transportation needs to the different sites. Both the vegetarian (myself) and non-vegetarian (my family) was delicious. The lounge area has beautiful views, board games and books. My only complaint is that they provide a water bottle for each person at every meal, creating a lot of plastic waste. Would suggest a pitcher of water be provided, and a bottle be provided when requested by the guest. I would highly recommend.
We had been booked to stay at Stanley Lodge In Zambia for three nights over New Year’s 2019 on a family trip to Africa. Our plan was to visit Victoria Falls and do other activities in the area. This trip was completely pre-paid. Unfortunately I had fallen two days before arriving while I was in South Africa and had severe low back pain, disc herniation with sciatica and could barely walk. Although, even though we were pleasantly greeted at this Robin Pope property we were quite surprised to find out that we were the absolutely only guests at the Lodge, during what we assumed should be high season over the holiday. The setting of the lodge is quite nice and the rooms themselves are adequate and clean however rather dated. In fairness, the proprietors at the lodge did offer me some assistance due to my medical issue and managed to find a basic walking stick to help(which I appreciated)however it still required walking to my room in a vulnerable state, with assistance required which was difficult, and clearly for unforeseen health reasons this was not an appropriate place to be. We were offered a basic lunch which was less than adequate( and note all food was to be included so this also left us with a skeptical feeling of what to expect) . I had to make a quick decision that for myself, feeling unwell and immobile and in pain, and family, who felt extremely isolated and alone in a large lodge, that I absolutely required some medical assistance and support that was not available to me there. Therefore we fortunately found rooms available at the Royal Livingston Hotel which was close by where there was a medic on site( who was able to provide pain medication and crutches which saved our trip and potentially having to go home) , and also golf carts on site that could help transport clients to and from their rooms . The staff at the Royal Livingstone were unbelievable at looking after me and checking in on me while I stayed back in the room and my family continued on to do a few activities in the area. My issue is that Robin Pope Safari company at Stanley Lodge has been unwilling to consider any refund for 3 prepaid nites that were not used , due to medical reasons. I have travelled all over the world and understand the fine print- pre paid , non refundable etc…. however , this lodge was empty , not one other guest- we were not forcing this company to turn away other guests on a wait list who would have occupied our unused rooms. When things go smoothly on a holiday ,it’s easy for people to rave about the company they worked with or the place they stayed…. However the true test of a really outstanding company that truly understands client service and support is actually when things go awry and unforeseen problems occur and only then do you really see a company that is responsive , compassionate, and client centred. We can only rave about the support we received at the Royal Livingstone, but are extremely disappointed by the lack of follow up and consideration given to us by Stanley Lodge and Robin Pope Safari company. We are still puzzled as well how it’s possible that during high season over Xmas and New Years holidays we were the only guests in the entire lodge, which was not a comfortable or reassuring feeling, particularly when not feeling well. Being a physician myself , there was no question that I required medical assistance that could not be provided at Stanley Lodge, and moving properties saved my family’s trip. I will have to accept contractually what has happened, but am disappointed, to say the least, that all requests for any consideration of refund at all for 3 prepaid nites, not used due to medical reasons, has been outright refused. I should mention that Robin Pope Safari company has not once reached out to me personally and has not responded to the excellent company we used for our trip Go2Africa ( highly recommended company BTW who went out of their way to try to help me and the family to salvage and be comfortable on the rest of our trip- Thank you Lauren!). It is certainly hard for me to ever recommend Stanley Lodge and Robin Pope Safari as a choice destination and company to anyone. This is unfortunate, and could easily have been handled differently. A recent traveller from Canada.
We only spent two nights at Stanley Lodge but they were enough to know we'd picked the right place to experience the wonders of Victoria Falls and the hospitable Zambian people. Hosts Jonathan and Sylvia were welcoming, knowledgeable and charming! The food was exceptional and Chris was an outstanding part of that experience, he catered to our every need. Also sunsets from the infinity pool and amazing!!
I stayed at this lodge 2 months ago while traveling alone. I had a marvelous 2 days sitting by the pool, have lovely meals and going on a rhino walk. Most impressive was the remarkable support Jonathan, our host, offered when I needed to track down a lost laptop. I can't say enough good things about my experience at the Stanley Lodge.
We stayed at this property for 3 nights. The new managers, Johnathan and Sylvia were a delight and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, even suggesting and accompanying us for "sundowners" at the Royal Livingston hotel (don't miss it). The property was not full and we were able to make full use of the facilities. Meals were excellent and beautifully presented. Johnathan also suggested that we visit a lodge on the Zimbabwe side to see a vulture feeding! It was quite interesting and the Stanley staff made the border crossing very simple. If you decide to see the vultures, you must get both a Zambian and Zimbabwe visa at the airport in Livingstone. It's the same price as just the Zambian visa, so why not?? The only minor concern is that the property could use a bit of updating. Sylvia mentioned that they would be painting soon and I was happy to hear it. The bathrooms could also be a bit modernized. This property is wonderful....somewhat away from the bustle of Livingstone, but a short drive, if you care to get into town. Indeed, Johnathan took me and my mate to go food shopping with him at the local grocery. Quite fun! Victoria Falls is fantastic and will be a wonderful memory. If you get the chance, high tea at the Victoria Falls hotel is quite special also. Thanks so much to Johnathan and Sylvia. I would highly recommend this property and overall experience in Livingstone.
Stayed 2 nights / 3 days on the way to a safari in Botswana. The place has a nice rustic feel to it and is very quiet and relaxing. With only 10 chalets in all but not all occupied, the service was personal and very good. The manager and his staff took care of each guest personally starting the morning with discussing the plans for the day and organising everything including ensuring that the guide would be there when visiting Vic Falls from the Zimbabwe side - a must to fully appreciate the majesty of it. The food was individually prepared and excellent. One issue may be the location - no direct view of the Falls unlike some other places in the same area. Nevertheless, overall a nice experience.
My wife and I just spent several days at this most amazing lodge. The service and food were terrific. Dennis and his staff were there to provide anything we wanted. I purchased a large iron wood hand crafted elephant and they had it completely packaged. They even found a carry-on for the airplane. Chris was there for our meals and his service was truly outstanding. We had a terrific visit to the Mukini Village and got to get a close up look at the local way of life. The falls and our tour with Curtis was spectacular. We definitely will return as there are a bounty of activities. Thanks so much to Dennis and the Stanley Safari staff for a truly memorable stay.
