The food was baked to a leathery consistency, the vegetarian option was feeble at one meal, inedible at another and completely non-existent at the third. Cheese was draped over meat at the buffets. My own room had no heating. At all. In November. When I complained they apologised and got me an electric fan heater. But then told me that it was because the repairman hadn't turned up on the day I checked in. So they knew the room (and bathroom) had no heating. At all. In November. Before I checked in, but still put me in it. The building's lovely, although it's clearly been rebuilt from a shell so don't expect much interior detail. The reception staff are lovely and as helpful as they can be, but the rest of it... needs a complete overhaul.
We were attending a function at the hotel hence the reason for staying there. It has great potential and the staff were lovely as was the setting and the building but I'm afraid it is highly unlikely we will be returning .
Room - Smelled, pipe inspection hatch hanging off the wall, smallest en suite I've ever seen with mould on the ceiling. Toilet paper- Grade 3 sandpaper. Car park - Waders needed if it had recently rained. Breakfast - Good Restaurant Food - Food good, but the menu was from another planet, (whoever heard of ice cream with horseradish?) Service - Pleasant and helpful.
The food is okay. Chef is clearly trying too hard. Improve your flavour. Might look nice but tastes like dog food! Okay stay. If business didn’t pay I would stay here. Go to stapleford just down the road if you’re looking for quality - on another level compared to this place.
Booked 2 night stay with Groupon for four of us. We had a very pleasant stay the rooms are comfortable and clean. Everything you need in your room and lovely big towels. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful lots of choice. The evening meal in main restaurant was expensive and two of us didn’t eat it the bar menu was ok but not cheap but the Sunday carvers was delicious and very reasonably priced would definitely recommend this, drinks weren’t cheap either. The staff were very friendly and helpful the hotel is in a lovely quiet location with lovely views. I would recommend this hotel but they need to sort there menu out
Our Father's funeral was the reason for our whole family staying close to Melton Mowbray and Scalford Hall seemed the ideal location. As many of the family live overseas we needed somewhere accessible and large enough to manage the numerous rooms, afternoon tea and dinner. The staff were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble and we all had a memorable 24 hours. The evening meal was extremely good and breakfast the following morning equally splendid. The grounds are extensive and well kept and the whole experience one to treasure. We will definitely return.
Well.... If the company wasn't paying I would of moved somewhere else. Room: taken some images It's compact, but has everything you need, sadly room located above smoking area and old windows don't seal so room stank. Have to have the window open to clear the smell. Bathroom, you have to sit side on to use the loo, the wall is covered in mould, the shower is rubbish and from the 70s. Food. Dinner - aiming at Michelin star. But it's not. Flavour is ok, but meh. Stayed for a week and got bored of the menu. Soup - good Meat - portion so small don't bother If it has chilli on it. The chilli is very hot Veg dish - very all-dente. Pud - cheese seen better days Panacota - it's just not Gym - wow. Don't follow the signs!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ends up in a dungeon if you do. Gym is hidden. Staff are great and the hotel is ok. It's a ok place to stay. It's not great and if it was my money on a trip I wouldn't stay. But as a business stop off it's ok. It's adequate.
On arrival, we had a friendly receptionist, however, to get you your room is like a maze you have to go in and out of the hotel to get to the rooms at the other side. We went for an evening meal, the food was delicious however, the service was very slow and our food came before our drinks and we left without ordering desserts as nobody came to ask if we wanted another drink or a dessert menu, we did order bar desserts, that were lovely but very expensive which we didn't realise as there are no prices on the menus. Breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of choice, of both traditional English and continental. Overall a pleasant stay, you get what you pay for.
A beautiful setting and friendly staff. Room was ok, and facilities were good in the room:- hair drier, iron, ironing board , safe, Tv, free wifi with no problems and the usual complimentary drinks tray with plenty of milk!. Bath towels were large. Breakfast was ok. But plates and food only warm and the coffee was weak. I was in a large group and our evening meals,I guess, were specially prepared( not on the normal menu) and very tasty but only just warm.
Booked a night for a catch-up with friend and we were very happy with the room. We enjoyed a fabulous meal and a great nights sleep in very comfortable beds. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and set us up for the day.
