Gatehouse Suites East Lansing

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Roomy suites with complete kitchen facilities, conveniently located and well maintained. The double bed was comfortable but a queen would have been better. Fortunately, we didn´t need to use the attractive fireplace although the furnace was necessary and worked well. The breakfast included: breakfast sandwiches and burritos, juice and fruits, bagels + cream cheese, waffles, cereals + yoghurt and of course, coffee, all in a pleasant dining room.

WARNING!!! We will never go back to this hotel again. We were issued a parking ticket for parking in the hotel parking lot and we arrived minutes before a tow truck was going to hookup our car and bring it to the impound lot. We were at the front desk trying to find out why we received a ticket and the employee that was working told us our car did not have a parking pass. We were never issued a parking pass, and she continued to tell us that everyone that checks in gets one. Well we did not, along with multiple others that were guest there. Unfortunately their cars were towed and they had to pay to get them out of impound, which cost a hefty price, and pay the parking ticket fee. We asked to speak to a manager and were told that they did not work weekends and that we would have to call them on Monday. Later that evening we received a call from the front desk telling us that the manager would be bringing a pre-paid check card to pay for our ticket. We asked that we speak to them when they arrived and we were told that should not be a problem. Well needless to say we never heard from or saw the manager. The college kids that work the front desk (those that never issued us a parking pass) called and told us that we could come down and get the check card. We will be fighting this ticket in front of a judge because we were never at fault. Just hope that those who had their cars impounded will do the same. Oh and the room that we stayed in was dirty. The carpet looked like it had never been vacuumed, the windows had smashed bug guts on them, and when the maid came to clean our room they didn't make the bed, they just pulled the sheets and blankets up over the pillows.

Pleasant Perfect location Great continental breakfast

Loved the location to MSU campus. Also close to restaurants and shopping. The rooms were average. Would recommend getting an upper unit. Stayed in a lower level and could hear the people up above walking all around.

We were in town for a wedding, so the location was perfect. The hotel grounds were cute and well maintained. The room was a nice size with full kitchen and mostly updated. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only issue was that the ceiling is thin and we could here the people above us walking around all night and then all morning. It wasn't an issue the second night, since there was no one above us. Second floor would probably be ideal. Breakfast was okay, with muffins, cereal, bagels, yogurt, that sort of thing. Overall, very happy for the price.

Hotels site said it provided breakfast and so did the girl upon check in. Breakfast consisted of frozen jimmy dean sandwich (microwave provided), yogurt, bananas and coffee. Not my idea of breakfast.

Good hotel, very little hot water (15 minutes). The breakfast was ok. Would stay again but the hot water tanks are so small that would reconsider

Check in/out fast and easy. Beds were comfortable and clean. Excellent value for the $. Would definitely stay there again

The hotel was in a good location. The rooms were clean but needed new furniture which they said was to be done soon. They needed more kitchen items such as silverware and dishes. When I travel I usually eat in most of the time this time I did not. There were some things broken when we checked in and they fixed them the next day. I would stay there again.

I am a new student at MSU and I think it was pretty fine!

i love staying @ Gatehouse Suites. each suite is huge, ultra comfortable & really like a home away from home and w/ such a competitive price, there's no better choice. it's very close to campus & within a short drive to many conveniences.

Full kitchen and all you need to use it. Quiet setting, conveniently located. Pool and basketball hoop for kids, plenty of convenient parking, flowers and a nice breakfast. I

This was my third time staying here and it felt like home. The staff is always positive and friendly.

The staff was very helpful, efficient, and friendly. The location and style of the hotel is what drew me to it. The room, itself, however, was sub-par. It smelled heavily of cigarette smoke (I specifically requested a non-smoking room) and something akin to sewer gas. The kitchen table had been wiped off (evidenced by the dry water marks) but it was still dirty, with obvious clumps of food stuck to it. And the toilet would not flush properly, which may have accounted for the sewer smell even though there was nothing obvious in the bowl itself. We were only in the room long enough to sleep for a few hours and catch a very early flight out, so I did not ask for a new room nor did I complain to the staff at the time. I did fill out their comment card, however, so hopefully things will be better for the next guest.

I loved staying here again. it feels like home and the staff is wonderful and attentive. the wifi was slow at times. I recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel was in a great location for MSU access. Perfect for any events at MSU!

Expected cleaner accommodations. Dust, dirty grout, hair in bathroom, needs vacuuming around walls & furniture. Chairs and couch very stained.

Very nice. Breakfast was good, staff very friendly. Would like a little cleaner in bathrooms and kitchen. Very close to campus. Quiet guests. Liked the gazebo over the river.

The rooms are very clean and I good condition. My only complaint is the heating/cooling system is very noisy. It is an older place. Be very careful pulling out of either entrance as the fence and bushes hide students who are bicycling or walking by.

The staff was warm and welcoming and the location was perfect for our visit to MSU for a conference. The room was big and comfortable although we didn't get to spend much time there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying there for another MSU conference.
