First impressions of the hotel were excellent. There is a beautiful lobby, and staff were very welcoming. We had booked a jungle view room, but at check in I asked if there were any sea view rooms available. There was one but it was being cleaned, so we were shown our jungle view room first , which was rather dark and gloomy and had no balcony. We were then shown the sea view room, which was flooded with light, and had a balcony and and a lovely sea view. We are so grateful to manager Kathleen for her generosity in upgrading us to this room which made all the difference to our stay. We loved sitting on our balcony in the late afternoon, having a drink, watching the light change, and listening to the sea lapping the shore. On our first evening there was a knock at our door, and Kathleen had sent us a bottle of Prosecco on ice with a lovely welcome card, which was a wonderfully kind gesture and an example of how lovely all the staff at The Andaman are. The beach is beautiful and the sand very fine and soft. The water is clear and as warm as bath water - no need to pluck up courage before taking the plunge! Staff deliver iced water and cold flannels, and once even a back massage from the staff from the spa. The hotel also offers a free morning and evening nature walk around the property. Shakira took us on a lovely morning walk, pointing out dusky leaf monkeys, birds, flora and views. We also went with Shakira on a bird watching trip outside the resort to look for great hornbills. We saw six and seeing them so close was a wonderful end to our holiday. There was an incredible spread at breakfast - patisserie, waffles, pancakes, soups, Malaysian food, salads, fruit, smoothies, egg station, etc. We ate at the Jala seafood restaurant one evening, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The only disappointment was the cost of the spa treatments. We would each have had a daily treatment if they had been more reasonably priced, but as it was we didn't use the spa at all (although we had plenty of massages elsewhere in Malaysia). Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Just stayed a few nights for work trip cum retreat. Very pleased with experience even though the resort is quite mature - service is impeccable all through, rooms are clean and comfortable, pristine & well combed beach, warm & welcoming staff. One of the great highlights is the golf course - truly beautiful with soaring eagles and even hornbills. Yes, the food is expensive but we had a very nice dinner at the Jala. Highly recommended.

Always wanted to stay at the Andaman but due to its remoteness, we always end up staying at other resorts in Langkawi. But this time, I told myself that if we ever go to Langkawi again, it’s going to Andaman! We have absolutely no regrets! The resort itself is stunning and serene. But what makes it special are the people who run the resort. They are very honest and sincere in serving their guest. I would like specially mention and sincerely thank Mr. Uvarajah for his great hospitality on our arrival day😊. Everything we requested for was made available in room upon check in. We were also upgraded to a pool suite which made our vacation extra special and unforgettable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Mr. Uvarajah and The Andaman. My daughter loved the room and the pool so much she didn’t want to leave the room. We had all our meals at the resort itself and it was wonderful. The SPG Kids pass was great and my daughter enjoyed all her meals there especially the deserts😁The Young Explorers Club was also very well equipped and was managed by very good staffs. The activities for the kids were very interesting and informative. The pool is excellent for all ages. Babies below one right up to a 80 year old can use the pool as it has been designed to suite all ages. My 4 year old daughter and my 8month old son enjoyed the pool very much. The beach is stunning and great for swimming. Just have to be careful with the small corals on the beach. We we also given a complementary photo session and a photo for our keepsake but as all the photos were so nice, we ended up buying them all😁. We were sent off by Mr.Vijay who was very friendly and jovial. I would like to end my review by saying thank you to all those who served us at the Andaman. Each and everyone of you made our vacation extra special. We will certainly treasure all the memories at the Andaman forever and We are looking forward to returning to the Andaman soon.

My wife and I stayed for one night at the Andaman . We obviously had high expectations . Great staff , very friendly with a well presented comfortable room. We tried the seafood Restuarant which was delicious and had lunch at the main Restuarant by the beach . Great place to get away . Wish we could have stayed longer . Only down side I found was you have to arrange a transfer , it’s not free , but the hotel do offer one at RM150 each way. It’s easier to hire and car with a nice drive . Let’s you explore the island as well. The hotel is great for families and couples and offers lots of activities, with a private beach .

We chose it as a last treat before coming back home after reviewing all 5 stars on the island. Nothing to be disappointed about. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed and well in keeping with a 5 stars (nice bathroom products, bathing gowns, coffee machines etc). It is well designed generally speaking, with a large pool area (+ other pools which might be private as direct access from some bedrooms). The beach is nice and wide, and the water clear. Some water based activities are available for a small charge (paddle, hobbycat etc). The view is brilliant. The breakfast buffet was again as expected and would cater for everyone's needs: European, Malay, Chinese, Indian food etc. Really spoilt for choice and great quality. Several restaurants on site: we chose the Malay one and were not disappointed. There is also a fish restaurant and a Japanese one but we didn't have time to try them. The bar along the beach is pretty good too and the cocktails inventive and excellent. There is also a 'coral' nursery that can be visited as they are trying to save and regrow the reef - great initiative. As it is set in a large garden/ jungle, you will also see flying lemurs at night and probably some monkeys :) The staff is great and attentive, absolute gems all of them! Some cons: 1. happy hour at the bar is disappointing as the discount relies on the temperature they take at 3pm: if it's 26C, then you will get 26% off... take it at 12 and in full sun please to make it worthwhile... The cocktails for HH are also very limited and not at all the list you get out of HH - the most interesting cocktails won't be discounted (who cares about a mojito when you can have some amazing unusual drinks!) 2. Plastic straws: as a hotel which prides itself in nature conservation, it is disappointing to see how many are used. We went for a walk on the beach at low tide and picked up 9 buried in the sand in 10mn. Could do better if they'd really care and switch them to paper or metal straws instead. A word of warning: the hotel is set on the cove with nothing around. Unless you have a car, use Uber or the hotel taxis, there is nothing else accessible by foot. Do not expect to be able to walk to a night market or hawker stalls for a change. All in all, a bit expensive but worth it. We will definitely stay there again should be go back to Langkawi.

This amazing resort is carved out of the rain forest next to a gorgeous beach. The views of the beach, nearby islands, and sea are stunning and the colors change throughout the day. This is a place of quiet and peace--its remote location ensures that. The rooms are large and spacious. Our king sized bed was huge (its base was 2 queen sized platforms). Modern bathroom. Nice sitting area by the huge windows. Small balcony with 2 chairs. The resort has 4 different restaurants and the beach bar is just beautiful in the evening. The staff were so friendly and warm, they really made us feel at home. Nice fitness center. Wonderful spa with expert yoga instructors. The wine selections are mediocre, but the food was consistently good. Fabulous place to unwind. Only problem was that there were lots of young children, who were often in the restaurants even later in the evening. Wish they had a family dining area, so as not to break the romantic beauty of the other venues.

This is our second trip to The Andaman - it delivers again. Staff offer excellent service that is friendly and does not fault. The facilities are excellent with plenty of food and drink options. The rooms are excellent - we stayed in the standard room last time and for this trip was in an executive pool room. All rooms are large and very comfortable. The location is second to none. While it is out of town, there’s no need to worry as the beautiful beaches and snorkelling will keep you entertained and relaxed for your entire stay. Going into town is easy with around a 30min trip that flies by. We love coming back here and will be back again with family and friends. This is a top spot for beautiful beaches and calm waters to keep you relaxed in a little piece of luxury.

The location is simply stunning with the white beaches and peaceful outlook to the ocean. If that were to be all it may not be so unique, however place all of this in such a historic and important rainforest and one glimpses at the unique aspects of a stay here. The accommodation is lovely, well cared for and impeccably serviced by the exceptional staff. It is difficult to single out a particular aspect all works so well to complete a special stay in such a wonderful place. If one must it must be said that the staff are exceptional warm, caring professional and more. This was my third visit and it will I very much hope be one of many more. Getting down to specifics: we dined very well in the different restaurants and bars. The traditional restaurant was a delight a fusion of tradition and modern cooking, the Jala restaurant was worthy of particular praise and so much fun to see the fresh fish arrive by fishing boat to be met by the chefs and checked before being taken to the restaurant for service that evening ( one to watch at 15.30) We cooked with the chef from the Malaysian restaurant and learnt a couple of dishes we will certainly replicate at home. There is nothing too formal or stuffy about the resort, one has the impression that there is a genuine passion for all guests to feel really comfortable and enjoy the environment.

The location is remote, 40 minutes drive from the nearest town or beach, this is a good thing in that the beach at this hotel is deserted apart from residents, apparently number 9 in National Geographics list of worlds best beaches. It deserves this accolade, it is fantastic, gorgeous soft coral sand, gently sloping into a sheltered bay. The downside is that you really do need to eat your evening meals here too, as an hour and a half round trip to alternatives is a bit much! We booked bed and breakfast accommodation and did eat out twice, once we took the hotel shuttle to the nearest beach and got a taxi back, another time we hired a taxi for four hours and went into the main town for a massage and meal. Cost one way is about £12.00 and a four hour hire was £40.00. The meals in the restaurant are expensive, expect to pay £50.00 per person plus wine. However the standard is very high. Once we had got used to the fact that we would need to spend £100 a night on food we enjoyed ourselves immensely. It is very expensive for Malaysia but the hotel is worth it. They do offer a half board option at 260Ringitpp per night ( around £52.00) but we never actually spent that much dining a la carte. Suggest you look at the extra cost of half board before you book, Staff were excellent, service second to none. I have read bad reviews about towels and service but I suspect any bad stuff has been dealt with either by the refurbishment or staff training, they really were second to none. A bonus is the rain forest, monkeys in the canopies that you can watch, plus there are morning and dusk nature walks, showing you all of the creatures. All free of charge. It’s a fantastic hotel, can’t recommend it highly enough.

Our second visit to the Andaman hotel - a lovely hotel set in the rainforest with superb views and beach. Our rooms were not the ones we expected - our room booking requests had not been followed correctly - and it was never quite clear if our agent or the hotel were at fault as both insisted the booking was correct even though it clearly was not. The hotel said it was down to the agent, the agent said it was the hotel. We never got to the bottom of it although there was some circumstantial evidence when we noted a large part of the hotel housing the rooms we requested were being painted - but although we will never know, it all worked out well as, a very nice lady from reception managed to find us two excellent rooms in very similar locations to our original request. The staff at the Andaman really are first class making their guests feel at home. (There was a slight variation from this when we found one member of staff in the main restaurant became rather obsequious which is never nice to deal with and so we avoided it after that whenever he was on duty). Our favourite restaurant is Tepian Laut which has great staff-food-ambience and sea views. Although the food everywhere in the hotel is excellent. Highlights included: A cocktail reception hosted by the hotel one evening, which was delightful. Amazing photos of the sunset over Datai Bay - we must have taken a hundred or more with 3 cameras and my wife got "the perfect picture" what a difference in position of a yard or two and a click of a shutter at precisely the perfect moment makes- absolutely breath-taking colours. The wildlife - we saw so many animals and birds. I managed to take a 5 minute video of a Hornbill sitting on a very low branch at shoulder height and allowing me within 8 feet. And of course the Macaques, Flying Lemurs, Lizards, Slow Loris ...we could go on... Langkawi is without a doubt our favourite place to take a holiday and staying at the Andaman is a real pleasure. We look forward to our next trip.
