40 Minutes drive from Airport (Use Grab Taxi - 45 MYR only), This Resort is far away from Main Langkawi City, but it got everything and you dont really need to go out apart from some sightseeing. Check in - quick and easy Room & Breakfast - Clean and beautiful, Amazing Breakfast selection, Resort is huge and green, lot of trees and plants. Thanks to VIJAY for giving me a grand tour of resort. Private beach is the most amazing thing about this hotel. Helpful staff. Well i just loved this place and would love to come back again and again.

I wasn't expecting to love the Andaman as much as I did. Luxury hotels can sometimes feel a little cold but from the moment we checked in at the Andaman, the staff were super welcoming and always went the extra mile. We had a lovely room that looked out into the rainforest, the beach was breathtakingly beautiful and quiet... and clean with clear blue sea. The nature walks were a wonderful addition as we got to see another side of the hotel - it's great that they look after their surroundings. It's an incredibly special hotel. Alvin on concierge is a superstar!

Amazing location...the beach was very beautiful and very clean. Staff and service were brilliant...very attentive and paid attention to my two small children, even took the younger one to stop her fussing while i ate. Great breakfast selection and service. We were upgraded to direct pool entry room which was brilliant for us with the little ones. Defo a great destination for familes but we also met honeymooners who were loving their stay. Would defo recommend to others.

A long and windy drive from the airport but amazing scenery and you soon know you are arriving somewhere special. The friendly porters are there to unload your luggage from your car and guide you to reception. You are greeted by the sound of a gong announcing another arrival at this great property. No hanging about as you simply hand over your passports and you are promptly shown to the lobby bar for a refreshing drink and cool towel. I cannot remember the name of the young man from reception who took care of us but he was very nice and friendly. As you relax with your drink you complete your paperwork and are shown to your room where your luggage awaits you. Makes a change from having to stand at a counter to complete your check-in. Nice! We were assigned rooms 330 and 331 which were inter-connecting so great for families with young children. Some may say that the rooms are dated but I did not think so. The beds are uber comfy and the shower is hot and powerful. I love the corner sofa which offers you a sneak peak out of the window looking out to the magnificent sea. We promptly made our way to The Restaurant and the staff there were equally nice and friendly. I must recommend the Nasi Goreng Kampung, my go-to local dish. We also enjoyed an extensive breakfast buffet. There are plenty dining options on site. We also dined at the Tepian Laut which is a very nice way to dine al fresco whilst watching the sun set over the sea. Not advertised much but you can get food served in the lobby area and I would recommend the local afternoon tea. At night we enjoyed a cocktail or two in the lobby listening to live music with the sea breeze keeping us cool. There are no option to dine off-property (not excepting The Datai) as you are in a secluded part of the island. There is a free guided nature walk in the morning which is a good way to explore the resort on your first day. I was awe-struck by the forest. A 10-million-year-old forest. Undisturbed by development. The guides are entertaining and informative in equal measure. There is also a guided tour in the evening which is very different to the one in the morning, so I would recommend you do both. Bicycles are available if you want to venture for away from the resort, but you will have to tackle that steep hill to get out. The beach is amazing. So amazing, I spent no time at the pool which was equally as enticing. My wife and I had a lovely walk along the beach from one end to another and hardly came across another soul (apart from some dead jellyfish – a reminder of what sometimes lurks in water). The beach is private only accessible through either The Andaman or The Datai, the latter being closed for renovations. Renting water sport equipment is inexpensive and my daughter and I had a fabulous time kayaking from island to island. Aqua shoes are recommended as the sea is quite shallow and there are plenty of dead coral around. Special shout out Ajay the restaurant manager, Uvarajah and the fabulous bar manager for being ever so attentive. Your passion for service is obvious and will take you far in this industry. I cannot wait for my return visit as I know you have so much more to offer.

- Hidden away in the rainforest, you are really submersed in nature, giant trees, and wildlife (monkeys, bats etc). It is super green and extremely refreshing, you are taken away from the urban life. This was the high light of the hotel. - The beach is almost private, there are only 2 resorts on there. The sand is soft and water is welcoming. Minor but there are corals once you enter the sea from the beach, so watch your feet. Talking about corals, the hotel has an amazing coral nursery! - Transport. It is a good 30-40 minutes away form the main areas (pentai cenang, kuah. airport etc) of Langkawi. That is the trade off of being in this wonderful nature sanctuary. We did rent a car which proved useful. - Overall service could be better. It was hit and miss. Some extremely friendly members of staff and some who seemed pre-occupied. - Breakfast, was average for a hotel of that standard. Expected higher quality food. Variety of food was decent. - Hotel does need some updating / modernising. I was choosing between the St Regis and the Andaman.. a friend said go to the Andaman, for the beach.. and i was pleasantly impressed. It is one of the longest and quietest beaches, I have seen in Asia.

We just spent 4 very relaxing nights at the Andaman in Langkawi. The island is truly beautiful and green - the nature is breathtaking. The Andaman is on the northern part of the island, about 30 minutes car drive from the airport. It is truly immersed in the rainforest and mangroves. The beach is simply amazing. White sand, the softest I have ever encountered. A long stretch of beach, with plenty of comfortable lounges. Only another hotel has access to the same beach, but it is far away, so you don't even see them. The pool is close to the beach and very nice. It has a slide and again a lot of lounges to accommodate the guests. Shadow is provided by the trees on the beach and by big sun umbrellas at the pool. As platinum members we were upgraded to a whirlpool room. It was on the ground floor with a very generous covered terrace and a huge whirlpool, which came in handy when it was raining. The room itself was quite big. We had enough space to accommodate all 4 of us. It is furnished in a subtle elegant style. Nothing fancy. Not the newest but well maintained. The bathroom was also very spacious. The hotel is not the newest. It is well maintained but if you are looking for modernity and luxury, this may not be the right choice. We tried different restaurants and were very pleased with the Japanese teppanyaki. Also the one on the beach serving Malay and Indian food was very nice with a beautiful view on the sunset. The main restaurant served breakfast with a wide choice of asian and international food and a good coffee. And also lunch and dinner. We enjoyed an asian buffet there that offered very tasty thai, indian and malay dishes. We have been spoiled by the managers and staff, all truly friendly and responsive. You have to book a massage at the spa! Not only you'll get pampered by professional and lovely therapists, but you will also enjoy a stunning view! If you are keen on having a family portrait, you can also do so here. The photograph kept the session short (30 minutes) and we got lots of beautiful family pictures on the stunning beach. The kids club offers a lot of activities for every age. There are also activities for adults, like walking tours, yoga, cooking demonstrations.. All in all we had a good and relaxing time and can recommend it for families.

This is not the most luxurious , sparkling new hotel but what it is , is a well established hotel in an amazing location. You overlook some tiredness when everything else aligns. The staff looked after us from the moment we arrived and truly make this hotel special. The location is outstanding, the amount of wildlife and nature in and around the resort was beautiful and made me feel very lucky to have the opportunity to stay. This was one of the most relaxing holidays we have had and we travel often to many gorgeous, luxury resorts but the friendly service, location and nature made this a winning combination. The Malaysian restaurant and Jala were fabulous! Make sure you don’t miss happy hour, the location at bar at sunset is stunning. If you can make sure you book a private Malaysian cooking lesson at the resort. It is conducted in the resort in a jungle type setting and is a MUST and certainly a highlight of our stay. The staff care about the amazing hotel location they are in and about the future of the reef and rainforest which was great to see. Try to go as many of the free tours or nature activities as you can. Great insight into the area. The concierge helped us map out Day tours and activities saving us time researching. Kids loved the water slide and pool area! Also stand up paddle boards and free snorkeling was great. Ask the hotel to point out where new coral us growing do you know where to go for the best snorkeling. Highly recommend!

I first found this hotel 3 years ago when my daughter went travelling and ended up in New Zealand!! I googled places to stay halfway between the uk and queenstown and the andaman hotel popped up!! It looked very special and as my 50th birthday was coming up decided to keep it in mind!! Well we’ve just got back from an 8 night stay from this wonderful hotel which included my birthday!! I can quite easily say this is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in!! Our room 217 had the biggest bed the best bathroom and largest shower I think I’ve ever been in!! It was a deluxe rainforest room and the clue is in the description it’s what we wanted what we got and were very happy with!! The beach was beautiful with coral sand so it didn’t get hot to walk on!! The sea lovely and warm and not rough but be aware it comes in and goes out and exposes the coral at low tide!! You can still swim but only on the left hand side of the beach!! Jala the fish restaurant is a must and I got my 1st birthday cake here on our first night on the Monday!! Not my birthday but they weren’t open on the actual day and they wanted to sing happy birthday and give me a cake!! Tepian laut is a Malaysian restaurant and again you won’t be disappointed!! If you’re lucky you’ll see the most incredible sunsets whilst eating your dinner!! One more thing I would like to say is the staff they do an amazing job are very friendly and helpful!! So remember you are a guest in their country it doesn’t hurt to say please and thank you and say hello when you see them!! The 2nd birthday cake was delivered to our room on my birthday no one sang to me this time!! The 3rd cake was left in our room while we were out for dinner again on my birthday!! Thank you everyone at the andaman for making our holiday so special we will always remember it and hope to be back one day!! Ps there was a 4th birthday cake waiting for me when we got home!!!

There is some good and bad about the Andaman, but overall it is not worth its 5 stars and its very high price. The good is nice renovated rooms, good gym, a stunning swimming pool and a beautiful beach. The bad is a terrible service experience from check-in to check-out. As a Starwood Preferred Guest, (SPG) I made a reservation online using half our points and half cash payment. The reservation being made 2 months before our stay, I requested a high floor, where you can have light and sometimes see view. The hotel also knew our time of arrival, around noon. Then problems started: 1) When we arrived at noon time, we were given the darkest room on the 1st floor, not on the SPG section. The staff attending to us was keeping on repeating "sorry, there is no high-floor room available". It took the intervention of the manager to find us a room on the 4th floor, and then another room on the 4th floor, on the SPG section, with see view. That was a bit painful but they eventually got it right. And there were some high-floor rooms available, unlike what was but told to us initially. 2) Then the same staff who had told us that there weren't high-floor rooms said that breakfast wasn't included. We had to show him our booking confirmation stipulating "breakfast included" to make our point. He asked to keep our booking confirmation sheet it to "modify in their system". And so he kept it. And we got the breakfast. 3) Then went on our 3-night stay, with inconsistent housekeeping - the room was undone at 3pm on the first day, as well as overpriced and bad food at the beach restaurant (75 RM for a starter with 2 satays, 3 little spring rolls and a bit of papaya salad is a shame), and poor quality at breakfast buffet 4) Checking out was another painful experience. Fortunately we went to do it the night before leaving early in the morning, expecting problems. And there were some. First I noticed 320 RM for a limo transportation on the bill. The attending staff (another one) told me "you took a limo from airport to hotel", which was absolutely false. We had neither taken nor even booked a limo and came with our own taxi (60 RM). I had to say it 3 times and raise my voice for him to say "Oh maybe it was another room". 5) Then I noticed that the room was charged to us while I had paid SPG online with points 2 months before and given my card details online for the cash portion. He said "yes but we did not receive any cash from you". I asked to see my booking confirmation sheet which the check-in staff had kept (remember that?) to check the breakfast thing, and never given back to me. That was another call to the manager, who found the sheet, saw the points and cash paid and waived the 320 RM limo and 1200 RM of room charge. Going back to our room, I was still having a doubt about the cash payment and dug into my emails to look at the T&Cs of the reservation: it was written that SPG points were deducted immediately online but that the cash portion was to be paid at check-out. I was therefore mistaken and went back to reception, apologized and settle the 1200RM for the room charge. It would however have been easier for the staff to show me the T&Cs and nicely say "Sir, you have to settle the cash portion"... But with the breakfast mistake, the limo mistake and the booking sheet they had kept, I was not in a trusting mode. 6) Finally, the transport back to the airport was the ultimate bad experience. As the breakfast only opens at 7am and our flight was at 8.45, we had decided to leave at 7.15am and allow 15 minutes for breakfast. When checking out on the evening before, I had asked the car to be waiting for us and ready to go at 7.15am sharp. The manager said "no problem". At 6.55am I left my 2 suitcases at reception saying "please make sure the car is ready to go at 7.15am sharp, with the 2 suitcases in the trunk". The answer was "no problem". At 7.15am we arrive from breakfast at the pick-up point, where a car is waiting. I go to the car, stating my room number and, guess what? I am being told "this is not your car". Then I see my luggage in a distant corner and I ask "where is my car?" to which I am answered "do you have a booking? just wait here". I had to run to reception, shout and loose my temper to get a car to take us to airport. It left at 7.25am with a driver speeding and driving recklessly to make up for the delay. I need to highlight that we came to Andaman for the first time in 2001. We visited all the islands of Malaysia and many places in South East Asia, and stayed in numerous resorts. The conclusion that this hotel is not worth its price and its 5 stars is based on many points of comparison and 25 years of experience in the region

We just got back from an eight day stay at the Andaman. It was a wonderful experience. The beach was beautiful, secluded and private, and staff worked hard to keep it free of the plastic litter that seems to wash up in so many places in Asia. The variety of animals (monitor lizards, monkeys, flying lemurs, hornbills) around the hotel were what led us to choose this as our destination, and we weren't disappointed, encountering new wildlife every day. It was like a poolside safari. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful without exception. Rajah was particularly thoughtful and gave great advice on things to do in the area, Randy at the pool pointed out otherwise invisible animals to us, and Govinda made me delicious masala tea at breakfast. The only negatives I can think of are: 1) the rooms are quite dated for a five star hotel, and 2) The Malaysian dishes we tried one night at the main restaurant weren't very flavourful compared to the delicious food offered at Tepian Laut. However, everything else more than compensated, and we hardly spent any time in the room anyway. Thanks to everyone at the hotel for a truly lovely stay! Note: we stayed in a top floor room as these had the best views of the sea.
