My husband and I just recently checked out from The Andaman. I am so, so glad we were able to stay here. From the minute we pulled up outside the grand entrance, we knew we were in for a treat. The lobby area is exquisite and the staff are so helpful and friendly. During check in, we were given an awesome map of the grounds and the receptionist went through all the facilities, including the timings for all 5 of their restaurants! We were also upgraded from a deluxe room to a treetop room, which had a balcony overlooking the sea. The room was amazingly furnished with free tea/coffee, an very good quality hair dryer, complimentary water bottles, robes, slippers, ironing table with iron, and much more. The bathroom was really big, with a separate bath tub and rainfall shower. We loved everything about the room! The private beach area is very relaxing and a great place to leave behind your stress. There is also one pool which is really, really big and loads of cabanas and sitting areas. We had a buffet dinner twice, which I highly recommend because the food was mouth watering and reasonably priced for a 5 star. The lounge area in the lobby was great to kick back and relax with drinks, shisha, and live music! I also went for a facial treatment at the spa. I would highly recommend a visit to the spa, as it is very serene and the views are breathtaking. The rejuvenating facial was so relaxing and brought about a healthy, radiant and, glowy look to my face! All in all, our stay was the best and I really wish we could have stayed for longer. But we will definitely be back!
Quiet pricy but really nice hotel with a great atmosphere. We spent our first fe nights at the berjaya which was allot cheaper for drinks and food etc however this hotel is very flashy and new. Would highly recommend both, however prepare yourself for poolside cocktails and food st this one as it's quiet pricy. Also the location is quiet a distance from any of the towns so if you come to this resort you will prob want to stay at it most of the time.
As SPG we were upgraded to rooms with a great sea view from our balconies. Perfect for watching the sun go down, but even better was watching the sun go down in the sea itself. The beach is just a few steps from the rooms and the water is clean, warm and deep enough to float over the coral and share the moment with the fish. Then just enough time to shower and change and enjoy a meal at the hotel's restaurants. We ate at Jala twice. Food was very good, especially the deserts and staff were pleasant and helpful. We also enjoyed the Malaysian buffet at Tepian Laut and the tepanaki. We loved the nature walks (or amble) with a very informative guide, and the float across the coral nursery was fantastic. We thought this may just be for kids as the pool is small, but the interns who explained everything to us were amazing. Concierge were helpful in arranging a trip to the Mangroves (sea eagles) and we were able to hire the driver to take us around the next day, which was very reasonable for 4 adults and he suggested some great local lunch spots. The contrast between the tranquility of the Andaman and the chaos of Cenang meant that we decided to spend our last day at the resort playing in the pool, relaxing, swimming and thoroughly enjoying it. Our only recommendation would be to let the singer play acoustically, as the amplification made it difficult to talk while he was singing in the bar. We were about to order a second round of drinks but when he started another set we left as it was too loud for us to chat and relax.
A large hotel on Datai beach. We were lucky to be upgraded to an exec suite which was beyond wonderful, beware the monkey who found his way into the fridge to find a Snickers bar! Friendly staff. Probably the best breakfast in the world. The Malaysian restaurant on the beach was relaxed and food was delicious. They organised a very good trip to the Mangrove Swamps with lunch in a local Malay house and walk through the rain forest to a small waterfall for a dip. They have lovely resident marine biologists who showed us the coral conservation pool. The beach was cleaned daily. Happy hour at the bar depended on the temperature of the day for discount and was a good place to catch the sunset. Highly recommended.
If your travels ever bring you to Langkawi, I would highly recommend the Andaman. There are so many reasons to visit this resort, allow me to just name a few - The beach at Datai Bay is absolutely spectacular, I have never seen another beach that comes close. With the lush rain forest just right behind, the beach itself it already worth whatever you paid for - The V Wellness Spa is simply out of this world. Excellent spa treatments are conducted in the villas at the top of the hill that overlook the Andaman sea - The level of commitment to environmental conservation in this resort is extremely high. They go to the extent of constructing a coral nursery and holding guided reef walks. Don't miss the morning and evening rain forest guided tours too! - Every staff that I encountered serve from the heart and I must admit that this resort has an exceptional management team All in all, the resort provides a holistic experience that few other hotels or resort even bother to offer. This resort is definitely one of a kind!
The bay is beautiful and our ocean view room was lovely. There were a few small issues though that could've been avoided. The hotel was running at full capacity when we visited during the Easter break and it was particularly busy with various wedding parties coming and going. Unfortunately, we did experience some inconvenience as a result of the weddings. Delays in service, being seated in corridors outside of the breakfast restaurant as there was not enough room in the restaurant. No duvets for spare bed "due to wedding". The one beach restaurant was closed for a private wedding function one evening which meant we couldn't eat there. On that same day at lunch, we were told we needed to rush our lunch order as the one kitchen was closing at 3pm to prepare for the wedding dinner. We did mention this to the hotel manager, Christian, who was surprised we'd be given the weddings as a reason or excuse for certain problems. He assured us this would be dealt with. The location is remote which means its not as easy to pop to local restaurants in the evening but the bay is wonderful and the hotel canoes and paddle boards allow you to enjoy it even more. PS: Food at all restaurants was good.
A beautiful resort in a quiet corner of Langkawi. We stayed for 3 nights and had a thoroughly relaxing experience. The room was very clean and comfortable, we had a nice balcony overlooking the gardens. Pool area was really nice and the beach makes you feel like you are on a deserted island. The restaurants are also very good, Jala was our favourite. We also caught a glimpse of many flying lemurs, a giant squirrel and dusky leaf monkeys during our stay.
The location of the Andaman is stunning, the beach, the forest, all perfect; if you don't mind isolation. My extended family stayed for 3 nights at the end of a 2 week trip in Malaysia and loved virtually everything about our stay. However if you wish to do more than just enjoy the hotel, you will need a car. We rented an older car from the airport for £11 a day, bargain. Check in at the Andaman was perfect, no fuss, polite young European man, explained the hotel and surroundings and room was ready at 1pm, perfect. Top floor, 4th, actually same floor as lobby, facing the gorgeous bay. Room very nice, although rather strangely balcony isn't wide enough to sit on, just a viewing platform really. But all in all very good, lovely bathroom, huge comfy bed. Pool area is amazing, beach bar is perfect and staff there are well trained. Very friendly and efficient Prices of food at beach restaurant and main hotel restaurant are acceptable for such a prestige hotel. Pizza £7, burger and chips £11. Large draft beer £5. Cocktail £6. Similarly prices in main restaurant in the evening are ok, with main course starting at £10. However service in main restaurant is a bit and miss, don't seem as well trained as beach bar staff. By wife and I both ate Malaysian food which was nice, kids had western, which was also ok, but came and different times, not good. Also had to repeatedly ask for butter for the rolls, a little thing I know, but we asked 5 times. Breakfast buffet is good and included in our price. There are other evening eating options, one night a Malaysian buffet at the beach restaurant, but at £35 a head, far too expensive, in my opinion, particularly as we were a party of 6. Perhaps cost price to £20 a head to encourage more families. I will say this is an amazing resort with a couple of minor faults. Staff generally perfect.
What an amazing place to visit, and to top it all off, the place we chose to marry. Hidden in the jungles of Langkawi and away from everything else, it's an amazing experience a must if you want to visit a paradise full of quality. The hotel itself is amazing, but once you reach the balcony on level 4 and gaze upon the pool and Tepian Laut, you feel like you are in paradise
A big thank you to everyone who helped make our stay amazing at the Andaman. We had the lovely Phyllis help my *now* fiance organise a flawless proposal, we were invited to poolside drinks on our first night with the general manager Christian, we had lovely service and even better food! Thank you thank you thank you. amazing. We are currently in the process of organising our wedding back here with our closest friends and family, cannot wait to share this place with everyone we love. Thank you for being an integral memory in our life now and to come :)
