A beautiful hotel situated within a rainforest. The room was clean with a lovely bathroom. There is a pool as well as direct access to the beach. The food was lovely - breakfast was a particular highlight. We visited the spa which was heavenly - it's in a separate building overlooking the bay and the treatments were very relaxing. The nature walks are recommended and there are different animals to see all over the hotel!
We stayed stayed 3 nights in an oceanview room, on third level. The room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. Superb view with monkeys in trees outside the balcony. The concierge Florian escorted us to our room, which was helpful. My husband played 2 rounds of golf at the Els Golf course just up the road, and the Andaman staff were very helpful arranging this. The resort is very luxurious, numerous restaurants serving all sorts of local and western style food. The buffet breakfast is just amazing. The pool and the beach surrounds are luxury, the private beach is a dream, with waiters serving drinks and food at your whim. There are many activities run here, you can do nothing, or be active, we were a mature couple celebrating retirement, reading, massage, golf etc, but there were families as well and young couples. I would def return here given the chance. The staff were all attentive when approached. The GM had a quick chat in passing one day about the terrific informative newsletter that is produced for guests.
Great! Amazing setting in the rainforest yet right on a beautiful white sand beach. 4 really good restaurants (wine pricey), food really good. Some of the friendliest international staff I've ever met, always had lots of time to talk. Choose your fish in Jala and have it cooked how you want, great service from Aldi. Would return in a flash.
Astounding Resort with 5star experience. Very remote and private location. The nature is well preserved and have walking tour in the morning and evening. The rooms are clean and big, where you can have visitors from the jungle anytime. The resort is situated between the tropical rainforest and Andaman sea. The resort is a unique combination of nature and beach. On a clear day you can see Thailand border from the beach. The staff were friendly and well informed about the surrounding. The food was OK. Will recommend staying there at least once. Amazing resort. Nice place to disconnect from the outside world.
We stayed in April for a long weekend arriving on Thurs until Sunday at the Andaman. First impression of the structure was beautiful, traditional style with stunning views to the beach amongst the rainforest, absolutely surrounded. On check-in we had some issues with arrangements, however after discussion with the manager this was resolved. There are 4 restaurants on site, would definitely recommend the Malaysian one on the beach, the food was amazing and we loved the hand washing at the beginning of the meal with Hana Sakura. Also our meal was more enjoyable with Kamal serving us. The beach bar was amazing for afternoon drinks with stunning views of the private beach, recommend to grab the bean bags and chill out and wind the afternnoon away. Although service can be a little slow at times, so patience and laid back attitude is required here. The main pool has a small water slide which is the central of activity for the kids. Do try the Coral nursery was amazing for kids especially those who have not done snorkelling before or find the sea too much. The guides were super informative and the fishes were stunning. Get there early as they limit 1-2 persons for the snorkel. Make sure you book yourselves to one of the free nature walks which the hotel has on, we went for the evening one on the day we arrived and we found the experience amazing. The guide was super informative, saw monkeys 2 types, squirrels, Eagles, Hornbills, flying Lemurs all in their natural environments. Would like to pay special thanks to Elis who was super friendly especially with our daughter who was out front wirh her asking lots of questions!! Lastly do definitely try the spa, unfortunately did this on the last day. The setting to the spa was to die for, overlooking the sea and very quiet apart from the sounds of the monkeys. Overall the hotel is in a great location with rainforest and beach, staff are friendly although some service is slow and errors were made. Do note it is an older hotel so the facilities are a little worn at the edges. TIP 1: If you do decide to go into town like Cenang ask the hotel to arrange transport for you, but on route back grab an uber its so quick and much cheaper!! TIP 2: recommend for a family to take the garden rooms rather than the beach view as these are somewhat smaller. Couples go for it!!
Came here for my brothers wedding with a big group of family and friends and loved it. The pool is massive and has a little waterslide for even more enjoyment. Beautiful beach right at its door step. The service here is amazing especially around the pool. It was never a problem for the staff to get you a drink or food and they were always very attentive. Great place to stay and hope to be able to come back one day.
We spent 4 nights at the Andaman as long weekend getaway from Singapore. The hotel is located in our opinion on the best beach in Langkawi and surrounded by pristine rain forest. Our room was very nice with spectacular sea view. Hotel is big and you have to expect to be not very close from your room to lobby , pool and restaurants but we did not bother at the end. All staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel facilities were well kept even if sometimes a bit tired but more than adequate. Food quality in main restaurant can improve. Very family friendly hotel especially for young kids with a nice ride on pool and activities. Beach is amazing , super quite and clean, magic!! We will definitely be back!
I had a truly great and relaxing stay, and I have to say that the staff managed to save something very valuable to me. I'll start with the interesting story of how I somehow lost my wedding ring in the room. I took it off before going to the beach and hadn't noticed it was missing nor that I wasn't wearing it until the next day after I had checked out. I called & emailed the hotel for my lost and found case, which was handled by a very professional and friendly chap by the name of Rizal. At first they were not able to find the ring, but after giving them more details on where I had seen it last, they were able to find my ring behind the TV cabinet on the floor. Phew! Rizal then posted it back to me via DHL, and I was happily reunited with something I could not replace. Not to mention, I was spared some very unpleasant conversations with my wife. As for the property itself, the truly remarkable aspect for me was its situation in the heart of the national park. There were some complimentary guided tours (morning and evening) around the premises where we were able to see some unique creatures, notably the flying lemurs and a couple of families of monkeys. The walk up to the spa area was truly amazing - you get to breathe in the view of the entire bay from up the hill. The spa complex is comprised of a series of huts tucked away in the jungle and overlooking the bay. This is where zen lives. The beach itself is very picturesque, with islands and rocks in the not so far distance. I'm told those islands belong to Thailand! The water is great for swimming, but be careful about the rocks on the right side of the beach. To the left, closer to the water sports hut, is much more comfortable to go in the water. While swimming is great all day, the best time to walk around or get clear water is early in the morning or before sunset. There's a lot of life in the waters so bring your mask or goggles - I saw fish, crab, and even a stingray in just a few minutes in the water. For a fun and easy 10 minutes, you can also get a guided tour of the coral nursery. For those with infants, the resort is fairly baby friendly with babysitting service (did not use so cannot comment on quality). Other guests from what I observed are mostly western, although there are groups during certain holidays. The restaurants are all very nice and delicious, and of course not cheap. The room and service is all what you would expect from a luxury resort, except for what I already mentioned which surpassed expectations. Overall, a strong recommendation to those who appreciate nature and relaxation in lap of luxury.
Things in general here are good. The service levels are high, and the resort makes for a comfortable place to relax and spend some quality family time in. The resort is well-equipped for a good family vacation. The beach area is scenic, there is a good-sized pool with a water slide, a kids’ club which our toddler enjoyed visiting almost every day of our four-night stay, and a pretty decent spa. In terms of location, it was pretty mixed, and it really depends on one’s objectives I guess. For people who wish to just spend time relaxing in a quiet and relaxing environment, the resort’s location would be ideal. However, for people who wish to spend time on sightseeing etc, this resort is situated pretty far away from almost everything else, and might experience some inconvenience. We got the Jacuzzi Suite, which was comfortable and reasonably spacious (although by most standards it would probably not be large enough to be referred to as a “suite”). However, we might not choose this same room again if we had known what it was like, because we only saw tall trees from our balcony. We were hoping for a much better view before we go there, especially when we paid so much more for the upgrade. There were some areas where we felt somewhat let down. One was that the room had paper-thin walls. Sound insulation was terrible. We could clearly follow the conversations of people walking along the corridor, we could even have had a decent chat with our immediate neighbours from the comfort of our own beds if we had wanted, and the music from the lobby kept us awake until past midnight every night. The other slight disappointment can be attributed to our own oversight – we did not do enough homework on the resort before booking. Before we arrived, we were expecting the place to pretty much be a beach resort, but when we arrived, we realized that it was more of a rainforest resort than a beach resort. This meant that there was not much of a view from most parts of the place unless we went out on the beach, and also that there were plenty of insects around. In fact, it was almost impossible to have a proper meal without flies, mosquitoes, and other insects buzzing around. Our toddler’s body got covered with mosquito and sandfly bites by the second morning we were there. Last but not least, while the resort does exude a premium feel, but prices are too high relative to the other similar options in Langkawi. We have visited Langkawi several times and have stayed in other 5-star resorts on the island, and this has to rank among the more over-priced ones we have seen so far. Unlikely to choose this resort again the next time we visit Langkawi, as we know there are other comparable options for a lower price.
We have just spent 6 days at the Andaman and can describe it as one of the best locations ever. The bay is beautiful and the hotel is intertwined with the jungle. Monkeys, flying lemurs and monitor lizards can be seen daily and the hotel truly makes the most of its rainforest feel. The pool is stunning and has a great area for kids but also a quieter area to relax. Over the Easter weekend it was very busy but after that we pretty much had the pool to ourselves. The hotel itself deserves 5 stars but has a couple issues- mainly with the F & B department. The rooms itself can't be faulted and I don't agree with other comments that they can appear tired or in need of upgrading. The food itself is wonderful and has a similar price to the UK with good size portions. We didn't eat at the Jala although others praised it highly. We also didn't eat at the buffets nights as these appeared expensive for the amount you can realistically eat. We enjoyed food at the beach bar, the restaurant and the lobby bar which had a good range of snacks and light meals. After a great breakfast (including the sparkling wine and wonderful omelettes) we didn't need anymore than that. The kids also enjoyed SPG kids which is very good value. For 90 MYR they could have breakfast (usually 32 MYR each for children) a 3 course lunch and a 3 course dinner plus drinks all day. Our kids struggled to eat that amount of food but got their money worth in drinks alone. This is where the problems came in though. Both reception and the different staff at the beach bar had a completely different understanding of what was included in SPG kids. One day they could have a drink by the pool the next they couldn't. When ordering we discovered The lobby bar wasn't included either but then seeing my frustrations the staff on the lobby made adjustments for us which was appreciated. We also had a similar issue with the 15% discount for food for SPG members. One day at the beach bar you got the discount but the next the beach bar wasn't included. Guests shouldn't be expected to work out the different places the offer is available- it needs to be across all locations in the hotel and all staff should be clear themselves. The service in the beach bar was also appallingly slow- taking 15 - 20 mins to serve each drink- as there was a lot of staff standing around doing nothing and no one actually preparing the drinks. This is frustrating as it was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a drink. We did complain regarding this issue and the SPG kids and received a kind gift of a coconut and chocolates however the service didn't improve. I also felt the compulsory 10% service charge unnecessary as I didn't want to provide any extra for staff when the service was below par in that area. The drinks are also on the expensive side for Malaysia (29 myr for a large beer- 30 myr for the cheapest glass of wine). I appreciate the manager feels they are comparable to other hotels but we felt they were expensive even when comparing to top hotels in other locations we visited. All in all though, this is an amazing hotel which we would visit again in a heartbeat. I hope the issues with the consistency of the service with the f&b team at the beach bar can be addressed as it is the only thing letting the hotel down.
