Peaceful coastal escape in historic neighborhood near beaches
A small condo with lots of comfort! This remodeled and customized space has everything your family needs for a quiet getaway to the beach, an exciting fishing trip, and everything in-between.
Nestled in historic Lanark Village, this 1941 apartment was once officers’ quarters for soldiers training for D-Day at Camp Gordon Johnston. Today, the area is part of Florida's Forgotten Coast and offers access to the best beaches and nature viewing North Florida has to offer. Visit Carrabelle Beach (10 minutes) to watch dolphin and seahawks hunt or head to St. George Island (30 minutes) to boogie board in the clear surf; visit in fall to experience the mass migration of Gulf Fritillary butterflies; hike or kayak in Tate’s Hell State Forest; or just sit on the patio and be entertained by our local population of white squirrels.
If you’re a golfer, Lanark Village offers a small par-3 course, while the course at St. James Bay is just a few miles down the road and is designated as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary. If you bring your boat, overnight slips are available less than a mile away at the Lanark Market boat basin. Dog Island, accessible only by boat, is a beautiful place to lounge in the clear water and maybe even catch a cobia. Apalachicola (30 minutes) offers excellent shopping and dining experiences for days you just want to get out of the sunshine, or head to the Camp Gordon Johnston Museum to learn about the history of the area and the place where you’re staying!
Our home is equipped with Wi-Fi, premium linens, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fishing pole storage, an outdoor wash station to rinse the sand and salt off you and your equipment, a kitchen outfitted with everything you need to cook up your day’s catch, and even a telescope for a little late-night star gazing.
The condo is air-conditioned and features a kitchen and a patio, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a washing machine, a coffee maker, and a desk.

Best stay ever - bring your golf clubs!
This is located in an awesome community that has a short golf course that is as equally rugged as delightful. We didn't have clubs (and the resort down the way would not rent to us!) so could not play. We did hit the frolf baskets on the same greens though. Great neighborhood for evening walks, and you can walk to the beach from here with a bit of shoulder strolling. But most importantly, you can buy the most delicious seafood in Carmella down the road and bring it back to this place to enjoy! We fired up the grill many nights and really enjoyed the non-intrusive community of the neighbors. We also enjoyed the dart board and hanging out in the screened in front porch area. Writing this makes me wish I was still there! Our host was as lovely as our stay. They go over the top and out of their way to make this place feel like home for us.The only downside at all to this property (and I am fairly critical) is the bathroom is a little tight. It was no problem at all for the two of us using it (I'm an athletic 170 pound 40 year old), but I can imagine a larger, less mobile person may not enjoy the shower so much. This was perfect for us though, and I just want to mention it as a warning if that is you or your group. I would rebook here and can highly recommend the space for others. You will not be disappointed.
We enjoyed a wonderful time during our recent stay. The host, Jeannine’s attention to every detail in what our grandkids named “the little blue cottage” was just perfect. Having the games and books was so thoughtful. We would love to definitely come back in the future. The area is beautiful and safe.
We feel so blessed to have found this special place.
We honestly have never rented anywhere (in Europe and in the states) that provided every little thing a family could need and want and we are very grateful. Highly recommend!

The Sandpiper was AMAZING
From the moment we checked in until the time we left, the Sandpiper was absolutely perfect! The place was spotless upon arrival and the space and accommodations were utilized perfectly, and we had everything we needed to make our stay seamless. Our host, Jeannine was so gracious, and allowed us a late checkout, which made a huge difference in our travels with 2 little ones. Her communication and response time was instant and we would highly recommend this place and hope to visit again soon!

Very clean and comfortable place
Stayed here for the FSU homecoming game as this location was less than an hour from Tallahassee, however this would be a great location for a fishing trip or a golf trip as well. Short drive to St. George Island or Alligator Point if beaches are desired. Very clean condo in a quiet neighborhood. Owner reached out to me before the trip as a hurricane threatened and was very helpful, offering a refund or change of date if available. Thankfully the hurricane didn’t come but it was nice that she offered.
