We really enjoyed the Castle Trail ride. The scenery was very beautiful, the horseriding guide was very nice and told us about the history of Scotland when we came across certain historic places and the owner Maureen was very friendly. The horses are taken good care off. Everything was well organised by Maureen: the hotels, the transfers, the horseriding and the sidetrips. She wants you to see some of Scotland, so beside the daily horseriding through the beautiful Scottisch hills, she also organised some sidetrips like a trip to Traquair House where we got a private tour before opening hours. The accomodations where we slept were wonderful! I really recommend this trip, we enjoyed it very much!

My mother and I just completed a 5 day ride organized by Maureen and her wonderful staff. We had so much fun! The horses were sensible and steady, but not kick along, and we got to see some of the most spectacular country for hours every day. All the accommodations were fabulous, with comfortable beds, clean rooms, and excellent (and plentiful- I never did finish!) food. I'd love to come back, and I'd absolutely recommend this ride to my friends.

If you are a Travel Agent and book this place be aware that a commission is promised when you get the quote but you most likely will not receive it. After many emails asking if our agency was going to be paid I could not get an answer, not even a "we won't be paying your agency." My clients enjoyed their stay. I did not enjoy the non communication about payment due to us.

I came at the beginning of April for the intensive riding holiday and had such a great time that I would definitely return and do it all over again.. I travelled alone and was the only adult booked on that week, which was not an issue as I was so well looked after by the staff (a little too well by Maureen in the food department..) All the staff were lovely, friendly, knowledgable and went out their way to ensure I got the best out of my week. With lessons and hacks both AM & PM, there were days I was too sore to do it all but the staff were happy to adapt to suit me. All the B&B rooms are newly refurbished with luxury soft furnishings, super comfy beds and wall heaters for those chilly nights. That said, I was blessed with glorious weather all week..My room overlooked the courtyard so I could watch the hustle and bustle of a busy yard. Don't be put off by previous negative reviews (which I just don't get)..the horses are well cared for and in great condition and I found all the staff to be warm and friendly. A special thanks to Paul for keeping me entertained, Corrine for my breakfasts and housekeeping, Sandra for her wonderful teaching and an extra special thank you to Maureen, a really lovely lady who looked after me so well I felt thoroughly spoiled :)

From the welcome we received on the Sunday afternoon when we checked in to when we left 6 days later, we felt completely at home. Maureen, Paul and the staff are absolutely fantastic. As adult beginners who have never ridden before we were given expert tuition by Paul and Sandra making amazing progress through our stay. The meals were excellent and rooms were nicely furnished and clean. It is a great advantage for riders to stay onsite. There is beautiful countryside for riding with woodland and open country. Also not far from New Lanark which is a World Heritage site - only a couple of miles down the road. Well worth a visit. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday.

We turned up for a riding lesson and thought a bite of lunch in the cafe would be a good idea. Never have we felt so awkward from having given business to the place. The manager/owner hanging over you making you feel awkward. Food is good though. Incapable riding instructor so was then passed onto the manager for 5 minutes then onto a riding instructor who was good! The horses are so unfit! 2 lame horses before I got a horse I was able to ride! Not somewhere I’d be going.

My daughter joined the children riding holiday for the first time. So, I stayed one night to help her settled. The room is spotless clean. Have everything I need. Tea/coffee/towels/soap/shampoo etc Freshly cooked scottish breakfast, delicious portion, variety of other things, yogurt, cheese, ham, etc. The bistro is nice too, reasonably priced, big portion. Everyone is accommodating and friendly. We feel very welcome and I'm so glad we discover this gem :) Thank You for everything.

I did one week training here and I absolutely love it! The room (I came at winter time but the radiator just keeps me so warm all the time) and food (you will have three dishes dinner everyday) are so much better than I expected. Staff are very nice and helpful, riding instructors are all very very experienced, I know I am in good hands all the time which make me feel safe and more confident in the horseback. More importantly, I made a huge progress in riding. I would love to come back again and definitely recommend this place for people who love to have a riding holidays away.

I took my granddaughter here for a pony ride and was greeted by a lovely member of staff who was brilliant with my nervous granddaughter and really put her at ease. Unfortunately, this is where the positives for this place ends. The pony brought out for my granddaughter was FILTHY and had clearly been lying in its own muck. I understand horses are animals and animals will get dirty but come on!! A bit of effort could have been made to tidy them up a bit. After the pony ride which was a measly two minute walk around a car park, a group of riders coming back from what I assume was a lesson had entered the yard and their horses were filthy too. Being dirty cant be comfortable for the horses. After the pony ride, the girl took my granddaughter to see a few of the other horses at the yard and when I saw the state of the stables - I was horrified!! They looked as if they were about to fall apart and clearly were in dire need of a lick of paint. I have no idea why this place has been given 5* when the stables are in this state of disrepair. Clearly a hazard to the horse's wellbeing! Two stars have been given due to the nice and helpful member of staff we were dealing with, otherwise it would've been one star! I used to hear about this place being the number one place for horse riding but after seeing the state of their horses and stables - i have no idea why.

I came here for a week of riding lessons and was incredibly pleased with the quality of horses and instructors. I had relatively high expectations, and I wasn't disappointed! Everyone I met was helpful and accommodating... from Maureen, Colleen, and Alana, who all made sure I was comfortable, happy, and well-fed, to Paul, Lisa, Sandra, Leeann, Rebecca, and Chloe, who were skilled and friendly riding instructors and hacking companions. The horses were clearly fit and well cared-for. I rode two horses for the majority of the week, Diva and Dixie. They were both incredibly fit, well trained, and more than capable of everything asked of them---and yet were patient with me fumbling and cuing them in a home-trained American way instead of a proper British way. The transformation in our rides from the beginning of the week to the end was astounding to me (and really rewarding to experience)! My room was clean and comfortable, and meals were delicious. I also enjoyed having such easy access to Lanark Loch for a walk before dinner each day. I hope I get to come back soon!
