Libertador Hotel Lago Titicaca4.0 out of 5.0

This hotel has fabulous view all around, both sides of Lake Titicaca. So which ever facing you will either get the sunset or sunrise. It was just amazing. Service was also good. They provide you with the Coca tea for the altitude sickness which really did us good. Better to drink this than take the medicine. This hotel does not provide iron and you may want to bring your own as otherwise they charge for any ironing. Enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was good and environment was beautiful. Just left us breathless literally.
We love this legendary hotel! The staff was friendly! Once you get here..there big pots with coca tea, for the altitude. The food was great for our 3 day stay, our favorites were the hot breakfasr buffet, alternating with a well pack “gluten free” buffect! warm home made bread! They made a mistake with our reservation, compensating with a suit room..with view of the lake , right from our beds. The jacuzzi in the spa..awesome views! We were very please, will return!
We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The staff was great and helped us arrange transport and tours. They have oxygen available if you need it. We had a spacious suite facing the sunrise. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars (really 3.5) is because the rooms and furniture throughout are tired looking. They really need to do a renovation if they want to claim it’s 5 stars. We stayed in a few 3-4 star hotels throughout our stay in Peru that were much nicer looking. The views are gorgeous from this hotel and there is a nice 1 mile walking trail around the hotel where you can see alpacas. Only other comment is to plan ahead if you want bar service - it’s extremely slow.
This is a large rather impersonal hotel located on a spur of land to the edge of the city. Taxi's are needed to get anywhere but 10 minutes ride reaches most city centre locations. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast adequate. Staff service could be a little better for a 5 star hotel.
Stayed here for 2 nights. Very disappointed. For a 5 star hotel the amenities were woeful. We could only open one suitcase at a time.... the room was so tiny. But the worst was the air conditioning. This is centrally controlled at 21degrees which is far too cold for puno. We requested it be changed but no joy. When we created a fuss they sent us a heater which kept us warm. Not good enough. Asked for a wakeup call.....they forgot! Fortunately our body clocks woke us up and we were in time for pick up. Really not good for a 5 * hotel. But a lovely young lady Milagrose was an angel and redeemed the hotel. She got the temperature changed in the room and apologised profusely for the mis-handling of the issues. She offered us an upgrade and also gave us complimentary sandwiches for our journey the next day. Thank you Milagrose...your customer service was wonderful and appreciated. The location too I felt was very much out of the way. Virtually stuck at the hotel. Maybe a free shuttle bus to the downtown area for guests say 3 times a day preferably in the evenings might be great. Not sure if I would use this hotel again.
We were only able to spend 2 nights at the Libertador, but the time we spent here was pleasant and relaxing. The hotel boasts the best location in Puno, on an island in Lake Titicaca. It is about a 5-10 minute taxi drive into downtown Puno. The sunrise views of the lake from our room were exceptional. The room amenities were nice as was the king size bed. We enjoyed a leisurely late lunch at the bar, the food was tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative things of note were the Jacuzzi's jets were not fully operational, but that really wasn't a big deal. The printer in the business lounge wasn't printing, but again no worries because when I brought it to the attention of the staff, they worked with me at the front desk to get my flight printout. The breakfast was Very Good with nice views of the lake.
We arrived at Libertador at 6:30am in the morning after our overnight bus from Cusco. When we enquired about early check in, the concierge said that it would be half the price of the normal room rate. We asked if all the facilities and breakfast would be included in the early check in and she said yes but that the pool, sauna and gym were closed as they were being painted. She then said that she could give us early check in for free. We found it strange that she didn't offer it for free in the first place. We checked in and decided to have breakfast and didn't think anything of it until check out. Upon check out, the concierge said that we had to pay extra for the breakfast that we had on the day of early check in. When we said that we were told breakfast was included, the concierge said no it wasn't free because we didn't pay for early check in. We felt that there was a miscommunication on the hotel's behalf and offered to pay half of the breakfast cost as we had three rooms to pay for. Meanwhile the concierge also said that housekeeping advised them that a Snickers bar was missing from the minibar. We were not impressed as we had not taken anything from the room. In the end, we had a tour to go on and were late so we paid the cost of the breakfast. This experience left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Besides this event, we were happy with the rooms which were comfortable, shower was hot and bathroom was clean. Breakfast buffet was great with a huge selection of hot and cold choices and a "healthy corner" full of vegetables which were hard to come by in Bolivia. The hotel is a bit out of town and you will need to pay about $10AUD to get to town and back.
Nice view on the lake, good breakfast but because of the low season, the other meals are not worth it. It is outside centre town but you can easily get in with a taxi. For the price, you are better of there than downtown.
El Libertador is a lovely place to stay, ten minutes outside Puno city center. The hotel is modern, clean, and the rooms are a generous size. I loved my view of the lake. The service at the hotel is simply outstanding - I had an issue with my plane reservation to Lima, and the Activities Director was all over it, helping to solve the problem and to arrange airport transport. Moreover, since my flight wasn't until evening, they gave me a generous late check out at no extra charge. That kind of service orientation can make a huge difference to your trip, and makes this hotel the recommended place to stay in Puno.
We spent a couple of nights in Puno and although we didn’t venture into the city center I was informed that this is one of the best in Puno. The hotel is a bit isolated at the edge of the island but boasts of gorgeous sunrise views right from the room! It truly was spectacular. The room itself was quite small and the bathroom was just Ok. After a 10 hour bus ride from Cusco I didn’t really mind! This seemed business friendly and the food at the restaurant was quite good with a nice selection of wines to complement the food. The location was also easy for us to get to Uros islands. All in All, a decent hotel but don’t expect this to be a 5 star comparable to others in the world.
