Location: it is around 4km from the city center. It takes around 15 minutes = 10 soles. It is easy to reach by taxi. Staff: super nice and helpful. Rooms: good size and clean. Beds are very comfortable. Restaurant: good food. Hotel infrastructure: there is a gym where you can exercise with a view to the lake. There are also a hot tube and sauna. You can ask for massages but you need to book. There is an AMAZING view from the lake in many parts of the hotel: room, restaurant, lounge (having a coca tea or drinks from the bar) or even in a small pier in the hotel. In some part of the day (in my case was in the end of the afternoon) there are some llhamas (or alpacas) walking around. Definately a good choice at Puno city.
Stayed here in September as part of our tour of Peru. The rooms were lovely with stunning views of the lake and wildlife right outside your window. The rooms were very comfortable with a lovely bathroom. The breakfast was very good. The bar area was nice with fires that gave a glow and a terrace to watch the wonderful night sky. The hotel is a short, cheap taxi ride from the centre of Puno which has some nice bars and restaurants. Taxis are plentiful to get back. Really enjoyed staying here and would have liked to stay longer!
Our flight to Lima was cancelled and the airline put us all up at this beautiful Hotel! What a bonus!! The airline took great care of us with food and transfers and we were on our way the next day but this hotel was a real treat! Room was so comfortable, view was spectacular- full panorama of the lake. Breakfast was the best buffet of our 15 day stay in Peru! The staff was beyond organized - consider they had 120 delayed , cranky passengers to deal with and they smiled and handled it all like pros! The pictures don't do it justice- the hotel was everything one could ask for- made a "bad" situation an actual treat😎
All the rooms with have a stunning view of the lake or of Puno. Bed comfy. Feather pillows that I don't like and no alternative. Breakfasts good. Restaurant too expensive, but the bar has nice food and a good atmosphere. It's on the lake, so not near town. The internet is dreadful. Service good. They have an oxygen room should you need it for altitude sickness. I did.
I stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is a little away from the city and has quite spectacular views back to Puno and out across the lake (depending what side you're on). It is self contained. I went on the day trip to the islands but otherwise spent my time in the hotel. It was a great way to spend a day and then being able to relax in the hotel was a bonus. The hotel was something of a welcoming oasis after I came from Cusco one of the bus trips. Puno is over an hour from Juliaca airport. The common areas are comfortable and modern. There is an excellent bar, a tour desk and several (up market) shops. I ran out of time to check out the health spa. The breakfast is very good, with a wide selection that is provided in the restaurant with lovely views. I also ate in the restaurant both nights. There is a good menu and the food was excellent. My room was large with a comfortable queen bed, and modern bathroom with luxury towels and toiletries. I had a panoramic view across the Puno inlet to the city - that sparkled at night.
Pluses: excellent wifi, nice common areas, decent rooms, decent steam room. Minuses: The whole place lacks proper ventilation, especially noticeable in the guest rooms and in the restaurant. This is a very big deal when you're 4000 meters in the air. Amenities are hit and miss: bottled water in a country where you can't drink the tap water seems to be at a premium; no shampoo or shower soap in the wellness area showers; bar was out of rose wine; service in the bar suffers from understaffing. Maybe it's because it's off season but three stars at best from us.
This is a very clean upscale hotel on it's own island with great views of the lake and the amazing sunrise. It is isolated so you will need to have a car or take a taxi to get in to town. The only snacks available are in the room, which I imagine are pricey. They do have complimentary chips at the bar if you buy a drink. The food is good and breakfast is included. We had a room with 2 twin beds, but I don't know what other options are available.
The Libertador has excellent staff in every department. They will always try and help you out with anything. It is the staff who keep this very tired old ship on course. If you book the hotel don't be fooled by the web site. None of the rooms have air conditioning. Some of the more expensive rooms such as the junior suites have "air conditioning" However, these are of the water evaporation type and are of little use. If you can avoid it don't get a room on the West (car park) side of the hotel - the late afternoon sun shines straight in and turns them in to mini ovens. The standard rooms are particularly small for a 5 star hotel. The staff were very helpful and moved us to a room on the East side overlooking the lake. On the first night we had dinner in the restaurant- when we arrived there was a blue haze across the room as something had obviously gone wrong withe kitchen's extract system. You could smell second hand grilled meat and hot cooking oil all across the hotel. On arrival you are told that there is no need to book for dinner. This is true for some evenings on others you will find yourself in a queue to get in for a while. As most of the tours leave at a similar time the dining room for breakfast gets completely full and the seating system breaks down with clients roaming the dining room looking for somewhere to sit in our experience 06:00 to 06:30 seemed to be the worst time. The staff try their very best and literally run round the dining room to re set tables, take orders etc. It would be fair to say that the hotel knows that it's guests are a captive audience and plays on this to an extent. The room service food and the restaurant food is very good, tasty, properly seasoned and covers everything from a very good mixed salad to Guinea Pig. So don't leave the hotel off your list- just make sure you are on the right side of the hotel, book for dinner and plan your breakfast time and the excellent staff will look after you
Nice looking hotel, good location. Room: small. Bed is single, one person can sleep. No air circulation, we had to open the window in the middle of the night. Bed is not very comfortable either, firmer than comfortable. lobby is great. Service was good. Breakfast had good choices.
My wife and I spent only one night here but we were impressed with the hotel and what it had to offer.Common areas are amazing with pool tables, bar and grille, the spa, even a jewelry store. The hotel gives you the cruise ship look even to the extend of the long hallways, smaller rooms and smaller bathrooms. The bathroom may have been small but the bath towels were huge and soft. The front desk reception we received was pleasant and very helpful especially Lucienne who persevered to find for us something we left behind the day before at another hotel in the area. We enjoyed dinner with soup and what I think was salmon but they called it something else...the waiters were hard working, friendly and efficient. Breakfast had good choices and was enjoyed with a great view as the sun was rising over the lake. Our room had a lake view but not sure all have. The hotel is a bit out of the way thus know that when you are booking.
