Got a great last minute deal on Orbitz. For $55 (plus taxes) I got a very clean large room, large shower, fridge, microwave, water heater (for coffee or noodles/ramen), breakfast (coffee/tea, cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast), decent internet. The property is well maintained and pleasant. Other motels in this area, which I've stayed at, can seem sketchy and I would hesitate to return.

Our check in and check out was very easy. The hotel was clean but a little dated. It was very close to everything and very convenient.

Parking and customer service was my number one issue. The place is in a great location...walking distance to just about anything in downtown...about 2 blocks away from the Heavenly gondola. However, parking is a problem. There are only 6 parking spaces for a 20+ room hotel, and about half of them are on a slanted slope so we woke up one morning to 2 cars that slid down and hit the cars parked next to it. I understand that this is due to the weather but at the same time there are other hotels that have an adequate amount of parking and aren't that much more expensive. The walls are also really thin, I mean so thin that you can hear the people in the room below you having a normal conversation. We brought our own towels and the cleaning lady took ours and then later denied it when I asked her to give them back. When we were checking in, the man at the front desk was making fun and talking about other guests at the hotel which is really unprofessional. When I asked about the parking situation the other front desk guy very rudely said, "you can figure it out, parking is first come first served." Obviously if I was Tahoe and could figure it out on my own then I would not have asked him for help. It wasn't until much later that another person told to me to go park at the casinos. The rooms were large, the shower water was hot enough for me, and they gave a french press with coffee which was nice. I would however never recommend this place to anyone I know nor will I return here.

I was on the first floor and I had very noisy people above me.

The room was only cleaned when requested. Continental breakfast was weak Few outlets in the room made working on my computer and charging the phone a challenge. There was no desk. Refrigerator small and had courtesy items I never use in it. That said the desk staff was friendly and helpful

Hotel was okay. Probably wouldn't stay here again. Rooms were extremely hot no a/c. Pool out of order

The hotel room was great, comfortable. We were not in the room except to sleep and freshen up. It was just a short walk to the main strip, great location.

Amazing Location & Beautiful Room. With The Best Bathroom

When we checked into the hotel we were greeted by Ann who was so friendly and helpful with questions. Our room was very clean, with fridge and microwave and coffee for the morning. They offered pastry breads and oatmeal in the morning. The pool had plenty of sun in the afternoon. There was a gas firepit poolside that was a nice touch. On the second floor there was a large outdoor sitting area that was perfect in the morning for reading the paper and drinking coffee. The beach and downtown casino area were all within close walking range. We went to see a concert at Harvey's outdoor venue, and loved that we didn't have to drive. We also took the Gondola up to Heavenly. The ride was a fun experience. I would stay at Avalon Hotel again in a heartbeat. So much better and personable than the larger hotels!!!

Within walking distance from the casinos. Quiet street & quiet surroundings Clean room / very pleasant staff excellent value

First time at this hotel. Within walking distant to Casinos. Very comfortable, Stone shower. Very quiet. Will return next ime in the area. A nice surprise and a good value.

The Hotel is very well mantained. It is obvious there has been a recent redue for the property; that is a very positive thing. There are touches which make the stay very inviting.. warm cider, a small but adequate shop for snacks and beverages. The comp breakfast, though, a little limited in choices, had all the nutrious picks! Location.. close to Tahoe's main calling cards.. stateline and its' activities, and the close to ski lifts.. water.. well, the lake is not right at you rfootsteps.. but there is an adequate pool, and hot tub! And then there are the comp bikes.. It was a very plesant stay!

The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable and cozy after a long week at work, Surrounded by beautiful pines trees that made you feel relaxed as soon as you arrived. The pool was clean and heated which made it a great way to spend the evening even after going to the beach all day which is only a couple of blocks away. The hotel is walking distance to plenty of places to eat and shop. We would definitely stay there again.

The walls are paper thin so it was very noisy. The room was nice & location ok but too noisy. We were able to bring our dog though. The only day that we tried to eat the breakfast, the oatmeal was terrible. So overall not bad really just don't plan on sleeping much.

Nicely updated hotel in a great location. Walking distance to the Heavenly gondola, shops, casinos, etc. Walls are thin and if the hotel gets full it gets a bit noisy. Overall nice place, will stay here again.

The Avalon Lodge was perfect for our 3 day stay in S. Lake Tahoe! The best part about this place was definitely the beds! Their Queen pillow top mattresses and cozy comforters made for a good night's sleep! Our updated room was on the second floor of the lodge and included modern furnishings and 2 Queen beds, clean linens, a small fridge, fireplace heater (with a thermostat) and a nice bathroom with a beautiful stone shower (no tub). A complimentary continental breakfast is also served until about 10am. We had looked at several different hotel/lodge options and this was the best option for us! The only drawback about this place is the noise level. The walls are pretty thin and those folks checking out early were lugging their suitcases across the walkway and down the stairs and it was pretty loud. Also, the children running across the walkway woke me up at an early hour. Staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely book here again.. if only to sleep in those comfy beds again!

This place has minimal upgrades, no telephone in the room, flat pillows, the bathroom has no counter space just a stand alone sink, shower is on the same level as the bathroom floor with no borders, the worst part about this lodge is that the walls and ceilings are paper thin. The hotel is poorly insulated both for weather and noise. Anything on the first floor is a nightmare, it seems as if horses gallop above your head anytime some walks on the second floor. Not worth the money...

also close enough to downtown to walk around (unless it is very cold). But overall, they paid attention to small detail and make the best of a old lodge look updated. Clean and comfortable enough, Definitely better than many cheap motel/hotel alternatives. Friendly staffs as well.

This was our first trip with our 3-year-old dog, the first time he had ever been in a hotel. The staff was amazing, very accommodating, there was a puppy-basket in the room, and they worked their cleaning and fixing around him! ;>) And he didn't woof TOO much for his first time! We hung out in the lobby while they cleaned the room the second day, and the staff just LOVED on him! Beds were comfy, bath amenities were amazing, and puppy even had his own sheet so he could sleep on either bed! Will definitely be coming back here.
