Spent 9 days at Hotel Krone while exploring the Lake Lucerne area. The Hotel is a 10min walk from the train station. ( Note if you walk along the river and take the third bridge, that cars drive over, you will have minimal cobblestones to drag your bag over) The Hotel is situated in a lovely quiet cobblestone courtyard, which our room looked out over. The room was a good sized and the bathroom was small, as all European places are, but it was perfectly adequate. The bed was great and with the blackout curtains we had great sleeps. We had a coffee making facilities which we used to make tea in the room. ( we purchased our own tea bags) Breakfast included a good selection of cold items. We booked our room online direct and received a two day free travel pass for anywhere around the lake area. A fantastic deal to travel up to Mt Pilatus and Mt Titlis at no cost - we loved this offering. ( note we also got free local bus passes for the duration of our stay) Would recommend this Hotel.
Well located in old town. Got a surprising early check in for my family with 2 kids after long travel. Just amazed when reception staff offered the room when we were very preparing to leave the baggage. Front desk staff were very helpful. Decent breakfast. Easy access to train station-scenic walk for 10 mins.
Picked this hotel just on its location, in the Altstadt of Luzern. You have to take a little care driving there because you drive on a walking only zone. This hotel is really excellent. It is clean, modern, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We had a little problem in one of our rooms late at night, and the manager on duty immediately helped us move to a different room. We were very impressed with the service and the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was also just great. I liked the location, right in the old part of the city...it was so convenient to walk from this hotel. We used their valet parking, which was very convenient. I'll definitely stay here again!
Hotel Krone surprised us in a good way. It had a tiny no-frills reception area but the rooms themselves were equipped more like a 4 star rather than a 3 star hotel. Rooms were quite small but had comfortable beds and pillows, crisp linen, a coffee machine, and a huge flat screen TV. The bathroom was small too but not excessively tiny. It was still big enough for one person to move comfortably around in. Continental breakfast buffet at the hotel was okay. The only downside was noise levels from within the hotel (probably due to the large open tiled stairway and public areas). We were on the 1st floor and could hear noises from the breakfast room in the floor below, doors shutting in the floors above and inconsiderate guests talking/laughing noisily as they used the stairs at night. It wasn't awful but it was noticeable. Plusses = excellent location, great staff, creature comforts you wouldn't ordinarily expect in a 3 star hotel. Minus = noise issues. If this is not too big a deal-breaker for you, then Hotel Krone is extremely good value in Altstadt. I would be happy to return here again.
We really enjoyed staying here and wish it was for more than 1 night. The breakfast buffet had enough to keep us full through the day. The room was large, clean and had a very comfortable bed. The staff on reception were exceptionally helpful and made our arrival easy with plenty of advise on where to go and what to see.
We were so pleasantly surprised to find the apartment we'd booked was recently renovated, very modern, clean and HUGE! We stayed in the Cocoon Apartment on the first floor in the old Guild buildings across the road from the actual hotel (managed by Altstadt Krone). The bedroom is huge with a lovely view of a quiet and quaint street below. The kitchenette is a perfect size with a nice dining table enough for four. The bathroom is very big, shower is massive, and the heat and pressure is fantastic. The buffet breakfast is included, mostly cold offerings and toast, very simple but fine. The hotel is very easy to walk to from Luzern Bahnhof (the main station). It's beautifully placed for wandering the Old Town, right outside the Kappelbrucke, a 15 minute walk to the Lion Monument, and very close to so many wonderful restaurants and the water. One of our favourite hotels we've ever stayed at.. we'd be back in a flash but it books out fast (and we got a very good-value deal) !!
My husband and I stayed here in December. Our room was very nice and nicely decorated. We had a room over looking the street. It was Christmas market so getting to the hotel was a bit of a problem. Breakfast was included and was nice. This hotel is right in the middle of old town area. Walking to the wooden bridges and other sites were right out your door. We walked to the boats on Lake Lucerne and took the trip to Rigi. First a boat ride, then train to the top of the mountain, then cable tram car back down. It's about $95 a person but better have a min of four hours. There is a charge for parking around $29.
An enjoyable stay at a conveniently located hotel. The in-room coffee was a very nice amenity. The room was spacious, had a well stocked minibar and room safe. A cold buffet breakfast was provided. Modern furnishing make up the room attire.
Situated on a courtyard that is set back from the river, this is a beautiful hotel that we highly recommend. We could check in a little earlier than planned and were allocated a room with a mountain view. The room was spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay, including disposable coffee cups if you want to take a hot drink out with you. The staff here are friendly and helpful. The breakfast room is cosy and well laid out; a lovely selection of fruit, meat, cheese, bread and pastries that will set you up for the day. Plenty of cafes, restaurants & shops within short walking distance.
My wife and I stayed here for two nights in June we had a very nice room with a mini bar and modern clean bathroom. The room was very clean with plenty of space and serviced each day. There was an elevator which was good if you have heavy luggage. The hotel is a short walk from the train station not to far away about ten minutes. All the staff were very helpful and polite giving us directions, information and weather updates. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very nice. Also we had a good nights sleep with no noise or disturbance. We found the hotel was good value for money and would stay here again.
