Altstadt Hotel Krone Luzern3.0 out of 5.0

The Hotel Krone is an unassuming hotel right in the middle of Old Towm. There are numerous shops and restaurants in close walking distance. You are a 2-3 minute walk to restaurants, the w wooden bridge and the Lake.. The room was very comfortable with views onto the square. Breakfast was included,, and although cold, had enough choices to satisfy most. Although the hotel did not have a concierge, the staff was very knowledgeable in local sites. Definitely would stay there again.
Location, location, location. The hotel itself is nothing special. But it's clean and the staff is friendly. We were supposed to be at Hotel Le Stelle but they moved us to this one, which was actually better. And we had a terrace all to ourselves. No need to eat breakfast here... there are so many delicious bakeries in the city.
We stayed here on out last trip to Lucerne and were put in an apartment that was very nice, will appointed, modern conveniences and very roomy. It had no elevator but luckily we were on the first floor And only had to walk up one flight. The biggest issue was parking. They charged 27£ per day for the car but it is about the only option. They were quick to get the car when we needed it. Breakfast is included and is nice but not outstanding. We are going back in week or so and will stay again. Can't go wrong here. Right in the middle of shopping and many restaurants.
I came with my family of 4 and the hotel exceeded all expectations. We booked 2 double rooms but one of our rooms was upgraded to a 4-pax room, giving us so much more space. There is a good quality coffee machine in each room, and the bathroom is spotless. Beds are most comfortable and soft. Best part was the location. Would come again!
While the hotel on the outside was beautiful, the construction going on behind it was awful! While I understand that these things do go on and it can't be avoided by the hotel or other businesses around it, paying what I did for a night I should have been advised that it was going on OR we should have had a room at the front of the hotel. In addition to the price of staying for the night, we had to pay to park our car and breakfast was another 19 Swiss francs. So it was not an inexpensive night and it should have been a lot more comfortable and quiet than it was. We arrived later in the afternoon to the construction noise and then the hotel lost electricity for a brief period. Promptly at 7AM the next morning we woke to construction vehicles beeping and constant "banging", literally right outside our window. I did discuss it with the clerk when we checked out and was advised that they had no control over it and there was nothing to be done about it. I suspect if I had told him I couldn't pay my bill, there was nothing I could do about it, there would have been an issue. While the clerk was very nice, the hotel was not willing to compensate us in any way for the inconvenience and aggravation and was not at all understanding of our disappointment.
Good location, comfortable room (not too small) and clean bathroom, helpful staff, good view from the window. I would like to stay in Krone if I came back here. Deposit box, mini bar, refrigerator, wide screan TV, fan, internet, also provided. Suitable for family and children, and handicap persons. No Air conditioner. Maybe not suitable for summer holiday. A fan all in
The hotel is a short walk from the train station. Located in the heart of the square, it is very convenient. The room was clean, basic, and don't let the hallways scare you. VERY basic, but rooms are decent. The street work noise was unbearable. They drilled all day long and started again around 7 AM which was not conducive to sleeping in. It was SO loud, it was hard to hear yourself even with windows closed, which was rough with no AC. Maybe a heads up on their website would have been nice regarding the noise. Know it isn't the hotels fault. Before booking, make sure you are not facing the street where they are doing all the work. Otherwise, a lovely stay. Friendly staff.
We chose this hotel because of the location, and were not disappointed. But the room was very small (the door to the room had to have a doorstop so it wouldn't hit my nightstand) and the hallways gave one the feeling that you are staying in a hospital. Staff was not friendly and there is no air conditioning. But the room was spotlessly clean and we appreciated being able to look out on the old market square and the fountain.
Hotel Krone Luzern is situated in a beautiful old square and is a short walk to the river. I found it easy to walk to the different sites I wanted to see. The staff I dealt with were friendly, especially the people working in the breakfast room. The views from the upper floor looking out onto the city are phenomenal. I found my bed to be comfortable, the tv was large and there was enough closet space to unpack all of my belongings.
Stayed here for 2 nights in early July. There is a lot to like about this hotel and probably doing other times of the year it is a great hotel, but one big issue that prevents me from rating this higher for our stay during the summer is no AC. To be fair, I'll spell out the like and dislikes: What we liked: Location: generally a quiet square (which was good as we had to keep the windows open all night), very close to Chapel bridge and numerous restaurants. Breakfast: pleasant room, and outside dining in the square - really liked the muesli and service was professional and prompt Front Desk: friendly staff The room: Quad - comfortable beds and I thought decent size for Europe. Quads are generally hard to find so we didn't have much choice of hotels and based on prior reviews seemed a great choice. What we didn't like: No AC: Now I realize many hotels in Europe don't have AC and for most of the year it's not necessary. In many older hotels I can also understand not having it, but in a hotel that has been restored/renovated (very nicely)But it was mid 80s in July and was just too hot to be comfortable. The hotel did provide a fan but at a 7" diameter it really does not do much to help. To the hotel: please buy larger fans for the rooms. Luckily, the square was fairly quiet and we were able to leave the windows open all night. Verdict: Unless AC issue is addressed, skip in summer for a place with AC but a solid place to stay during the rest of year.
