Pretty old building and rooms but clean and reasonably priced however the smell of marijuana in the hallway was very overwhelming. Overall no issues for one night stay.
Overall quality was low, it seems to be a housing solution for those less fortunate which is fine but the smell and run down nature of the place was a little off putting.
We were upgraded to a family suite for some reason and we loved it. Very generous space, fully equipped kitchenette and very clean. Very quiet, comfortable and peaceful. Would stay there again for a longer time- awesome place as a base to explore this beautiful area.
The Lake Cowichan Lodge is an older but clean and comfortable hotel. The room I rented consisted of a suite with a separate bedroom and had a kitchenette with a full size fridge and stove. I would recommend the LCL to any price conscious traveller.
