We stayed here for the Xterra race this past month. We found the condo to be spacious enough for 2 couples and the decorating was tasteful. The patio was amazing with a view of the 10th fairway so we could sit & watch golfers while enjoying our happy hour drinks. The pool was very nice to go for a swim and cool off. We were able to walk back and forth on race day so didn't have to worry about parking or any of those logistics. Despite being fully booked up, the resort was very quiet, we didn't hear any sounds between units and we visited with other people on the next patio. We also spent the day after the race playing golf on the bay course, which was fun. We stayed here before and liked it so it was an easy choice to come back again. There are many stairs going down to the unit so if you have trouble with stairs, these condos would have to be checked out further.
What a vast and breath-taking establishment. With 3 different types of accomodation on one resort, three beaches, a golf course, and many restaurants, what more do you want? We woke up every morning to an ocean view and watched the whales play. Every beach, though on the resort, has public access, so either walk down or take the shuttle because parking is limited during peak season. The beaches all have showers to wash your feet. If you want more privacy, the villas, have a small private pool. You just need to code to enter. Make sure you go down to the Burger Shack on the beach at the Ritz Carlton for ice cream floats. Also, the sushi place, Sansei, has 20% off before 6 pm and it gets busy fast.
My family stayed here during at the beginning of July 2016. In short our stay was smooth and memorable. Location: Location was easy to find using the GPS driving map feature on my phone. I would recommend you have an idea of where you are driving as the Kapalua area has several streets that you can miss while you enjoy the scenery and make your way around. If you stop by the Honolua Store you can easily make your way back to the correct street by driving behind the store and up to the street for the right turn. At that point go straight. The Unit: The space in the unit is very well utilized. Upon entering you are greeted to a tiled entryway. To your right a carpeted living room with 2 reclining chairs and 1 sofa bed couch. Just beyond the living room, the dining room and very well furnished kitchen. To the left of the entryway, a door leads to the first bathroom/washer dryer area. This was a nice area as you can do laundry and not have to pack as many clothes. Laundry detergent was provided and we took full advantage of the washer/dryer half way through our trip. Another sliding door in the same bathroom led to the master bath with stand up shower. There was another door that led to the Master Bedroom. All in all -- the space is well utilized and was easily a space that I could see myself living in permanently. So the best part of this unit for me was the lanai area off the living and dining room. Two sliding glass doors led to the lanai that had 2 2-person breakfast tables and 2 rattan-like seats that my family took advantage of every morning for breakfast. The view is spectacular and is a joy to wake up to every morning. See my pictures attached of the unit and lanai. Just beautiful. The Kitchen: I kept this separate from the unit review as I was thoroughly impressed with the kitchen appliances and equipment. I am Asian. I eat rice. This may be normal for Vacation Rentals however I was thoroughly surprised to find a rice cooker. Kudos to the owners. I was half expecting to cook my rice out of a pot which I can do but was thrilled to have a rice cooker. For those using a rice cooker and now knowing how to measure the rice for the lines inside of the rice pot -- a "rice cup" is 3/4 of an actual cup of rice when measured. So the line marked #2 is 1.5 cups of rice when measured in the standard measuring cups. A refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, oven...all pots and pans, cooking utensils, forks spoons were all located in the kitchen. We had every appliance and cooking utensil necessary to cook. Dish sponge and dish washing liquid was provided. A dish washer for those that want to use one was also handy -- complete with the dish washer detergent. There were plenty of cups, glasses, champagne glasses to use. Buy some wine and use the wine glasses on the lanai at night. Super awesome to look at the stars at night when there are no lights with a glass of wine in hand. For those wanting to BBQ, the grill is located in the pool area. The pool closes at 8PM. Beach Items in the Lanai: For those first timers staying here this particular Lanai has a closet that has plenty of beach related gear you can borrow. There were 3-4 Beach chairs (with the backpack straps for easy traveling). There were 2 styrofoam chests, sand toys for the kids (at least 2 sets), 1 neon pink and 1 neon green blow up pool mat/rafts and other assorted swimming items. I think I saw some swim fins and at least 1 snorkeling set. Borrow the items and go down to Kapalua beach each morning. Other items to note: - Walking each morning was a great experience. Get out each morning if you can and join the numerous walkers in Kapalua. - Kapalua Beach is a short drive (about 4 minutes away) just past Merrimans restaurant parking. Get down to Kapalua Beach before 800 for "sure" parking in the parking lot. There are about 18-25 parking spots right next to the beach entry. Outside of the parking area you park on the street and other various spots. I did see some folks parking at the Kapalua Tennis club in the tree area and walking in. Not sure if that was permitted however that is what some folks were doing. - Kapalua Coastal Trail - The Coastal Trail is within walking distance of the Golf Villas. I guesstimated .50 miles from the Unit. One end of the Coastal Trail starts at Kapalua Beach and is a good hike to various locations and 3 beaches that I am aware of. Wear a good pair of shoes. Be prepared for spits of rain and/or a nice wetting from heavier showers every once in a while. The views are spectacular. Bring a camera and do not forget the sunscreen. - Honolua Store (ABC Store) - This is a general market store in Kapalua that has many of the daily things you need (milk, bread, fruit, souvenirs, sunscreen). They also have a kitchen in the back area that has breakfast and lunch at decent prices. - There is a shuttle that we did not use however it is available. I believe the paperwork said you can call for the shuttle and it would be at your doorstep within 10-15 minutes. I did see the shuttle picking up people. The shuttle does bring you to places around Kapalua for free. - Golf at Kapalua Bay Course - There were golf specials for staying in the Villas. I play golf however I did not play a round during my stay (I should have). There are also afternoon rates that were very competitive with other courses around Maui. Next time I stay here I am playing a round in the afternoon. Overall experience -- The Unit itself was such a pleasure to come back to every night after a day on the beach or driving around Maui. This place felt like home. I plan on coming back here again and hopefully the unit or another unit within the Golf Villas will be available. Aloha and Mahalo Platinum Vacations - Kapalua Golf Villas. My family is happy to add you to our Ohana!
My husband and I stayed at one of the platinum golf villas in early May and found the villa to be very clean and comfortable with a super view over the 10th hole of the Bay Course with distant view of the ocean, very pleasant to enjoy a meal or evening cocktail on the large lanai. The villa has been extremely well updated with great kitchen with all possible appliances. The main bathroom has a large walkin shower. Great linen is supplied (also lovely towels for the pool or beach). The bed is very comfortable. The owners have not skimped on anything....just walkin and enjoy your visit. Location is perfect for golfing, beach, dining (several wonderful restaurants close by). Only one small warning for people who like to sleepin... the golf course maintenance staff use extremely loud machines very early each morning (not an issue for us)... We visited for 10 days and would have enjoyed staying longer ... perhaps next time we visit from Australia ... certainly we will be using the services of Kapalua Platinum Villas for our next holiday.
Kapalua Golf Villas far exceeded my expectations and we hope to revisit this wonderful place again and again. We stayed 9 nights and it was perfect. We stayed in Villa 11, P3-4 which consists of two very large bedrooms (1 being the master suite the other can be either another Queen Bed or sleep 3 very comfortably) our kids slept very comfortably in the two single beds, 2 stunning bathrooms, Huge Washing Machine and Dryer both new, great kitchen dining living area and a view looking up the pristine and lush fairways to the mountains above or down and out across the fairway eyes drawn down to the bays of Napili and Kapalua. As we were holidaying in January it was nothing to see whales jumping and frolicking in that same bay and all around the coast line, you can be walking back from Honolao Store with your morning coffee watching two or three whales out in the bay. Or having to remember to keep your eyes on the windy roads as other members of the family point out the numerous whales jumping at the side of you just below the cliffs. The coast line coves and bays around Kapalua Villa are all within walking distance and we spent many hours snorkeling, paddle boarding and boogie boarding at these bays often staying until after the sun had kissed the ocean, then slowly meandering our way back up through the tennis club and pineapple grill to our Villa. The snorkelling is very safe and excellent in Kapalua Bay and for surfing you can surf around a couple of bays close but we preferred to go for a quick 20 minute drive down to Lahaina and surf down on the Harbour Wall Break. Surf breaks around Kapalua and further North are for experienced surfers only. We enjoyed the SUP Boards which you can hire down at Kapalua Bay Beach Front Kiosk to the North of the Beach. Anyway if you want a real relax in paradise you cant beat this place.
This place is totally BUFF.You will feel like you are a 1% ter.beautiful views great people and an amazing maitanence staff.you will be high as a kite here.theres great beaches to drink on and make sweet love
The condos here are beautiful. The views, grounds, beaches, and walking path are everything that you can imagine for a visit to Maui. I do recommend that you get a unit with central air conditioning. The portable units we had were loud and made rooms very humid. I definitely would consider this property again.
Part of me wants to keep the review to myself because I just love Kapalua villas... Platinum ,6 star, and more space than you need..the views don't get any better.. watch the whales jumping from your patio each unit has at least 2 patios.. Perfect for sunsets and Kapalua spa is a great way to start off your day. whether you're cooking in your own villa or dining at one of the many great restaurants..you will still be in paradise!! Aloha
I traveled to Kapalua in March 2013 with a family that included three generations and a toddler. The home we rented was very spacious and exceptionally well-appointed. We had an incredible infinity pool perched on the hillside above the golf course and overlooking the ocean below. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the house came with most everything we needed, although the kitchen supplies were a little light. We enjoyed splashing in the pool, watching the sunset, and cruising around Lahaina. Kapalua is very lux. Because of the child, we cooked most dinners at the house and ate most lunches out. A store is a quick drive away. Although we didn't golf, we enjoyed hiking and beaching within the Kapalua development. Great family adventure.
The fairway villa was very clean and well maintained. It appears that the villa has seen a major refreshment. Every kitchen item was in the cabinets. The walk in shower was clean and well designed. The living room and dining area were nicely decorated. The patio was large, fully equipped with lounge chairs, dining table and a great view of several holes on the Bay course. The TV in the living room and bedroom was new. Ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom were stylish and functional. The small guest bedroom was adequate for one person. The fridge had ice and water dispensers. A washer and dryer was also in the villa.
