I came back to Axor suites during Christmas vacation after a very pleasant stay in the summer. Its a shame to say that after just four months the standard of service had dropped significantly. Firstly, the rooms are not well maintained there were water marks along the walls with paint peeling off. Secondly, the wifi was unreliable and worked only on my iphone so my laptop was of little use. Thirdly, customer service was slow and staff were not always able to follow instructions. Despite changing rooms twice there were insects in the room which returned a few hours after fleeting. The pressure of the shower head in the bathroom was weak so showering took longer than needed. Then there was an odor coming from the bathroom, it smelt like sewage. The continental breakfast is for one person per room (If two people check into a room, just one of them will be eligible for the breakfast) The breakfast was also inconsistent with ingredients served. Housekeeping was neglected, I had to chase staff up just to have my room cleaned- something which I feel should be done on a daily basis as standard. When It was finally cleaned the bedding was not changed and the room was not mopped. Finally the noise from the corridors... the doors are not sound proof so you we heard everything from cleaners vacuuming to baby crying and some other distant inappropriate moans. I managed all these things for a good five nights, after which I checked out. If you are thinking of staying in axor suites make sure 1) you have ear plugs 2) you have a wifi data pack 3) dont wait until you are hungry before you order food 4) don't mind sharing your room with a few bugs,,,
I stayed at Axor suites for my final week in Lagos. The hotel is not very large but the rooms are decent sized, my room which was a standard felt more like a studio apartment than a room (minus a kitchenette) The bed was king size with soft bedding, the room was equipped with a good size desk mini fridge and flat screen TV. I also had a Large wardrobe, chest of draws and two bedside tables so there was plenty of storage space. The room was well lit and the air-con worked perfectly. The staff are professional and very helpful they do their jobs the way they should and don't expect tips. The Wifi here was a good speed and reliable I would skype and Facetime relatives in the UK twice daily without any connection issues. I would definitely stay here again 8/10 Downers; -Doors are not sound proof so noise from corridors can sometimes be heard. -When ordering food from the restaurant it seems only African cuisine is available. -The shower/toilet water appears to have a slight yellowish tone, i guess this has something to do with the toilet cleaner. It also has a strong chlorine scent which some people may not like. -Exact location cannot be found on all GPS so with Uber I had to describe the exact location of the hotel to the driver.
I spent 2 weeks in Lagos in August 2015. One week was spent here. This is located on a street that adjoins the Lekki Conservation centre. What was Excellent: The staff were very friendly and very quick to fix any issues. Case in point, the AC in my room was dripping water, I reported it and went for a walk. By the time I returned, problem was resolved. They also have same day laundry service at no extra charge. The external sit-out area was pretty nice as well. The wi-fi connection was fast and surprisingly consistent so I got quite a bit of work done. What was good: The food was ok, a bit pricey for the environment. Only African dishes are available. There is also complimentary breakfast, which consisted of tea and toast with a sausage. The room was comfortable. What needs to improve: -The water was too heavily chlorinated and yellowish in colour. They need to invest in a much better treatment plant. -You can hear literally everything going on in the adjoining rooms and on the corridors from your room. I had to sleep with earplugs most nights. The music from the sit-out could be heard all the way to the second floor where I was, and on some days it went on throughout the day. Needless to say, this is not an environment you can relax or work quietly in. I specifically asked about this before checking in and was assured it was a quiet hotel.....this was not my experience. -Mid way through my stay, I was asked to pay all my outstanding bills . When I expressed surprise and asked why, I was told this was a management directive. This is at variance with every other hotel I have stayed in worldwide where you pay you bills at checkout. I made the payment but found the request puzzling. They said you need to pay cash for all meals,so be advised. A notice to that effect should be available at check-in. -There are no readily available taxis close to the hotel and they do not possess an extensive directory you can use. This is especially inconvenient as the hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the main road.
Recently stayed here in March for 4 nights during a visit with my girlfriend. Staff incredibly friendly, professional and courtious. Room was cleaned every day without fail. Minor issues with lack of TV stations and basic bathrooms but for a newly opened hotel teething problems are to be expected. For the price we paid I was highly satisfied. Due to the location not being ideal for us we decided to check out. However, the staff were desperate for us to stay and offered to buy in food to my liking and to provide us with a driver to get us to certain places. We resisted their offer but were very impressed with their efforts. Overall, very happy with stay, and would definitely recommend.
