We booked online before we reached Copacabana, and were happy to find it located next to where the bus dropped us off. However, the hotel was practically empty (one other room was booked), and the beds were not comfortable. We asked to change our pillows, which did not seem to help. In order to make the mattress more comfortable, we took the bedspread off and put it under us to try to add cushioning to the hard mattress. Breakfast was not bad (better than some we've had in Bolivia), and the staff member was nice. We found the room quiet at night except for the stray dogs which were fighting in the street below us (though the hotel has no way to control that). There are other hotels in town which offer nicer rooms, so my suggestion would be to keep looking, if you want a good night's sleep.
We had a room overlooking Lake Titicaca. the rooms are very spacious. the floors are thing between rooms, but the building is quiet at night. (unless it is festival in the town) the staff are so helpful and very nice. minimal English spoken, but we figured everything out with a translator app. Wifi was in and out depending on how many people were using it
It seemed like a fairly nice place; clean and located a short walk to the beach and center of town. The room had a comfortable bed and a great view, with a small balcony. However, they had advertised in-room wifi, which is something I need, and, as it turns out, the only wifi signal is located in a small area, in the lobby. I know traveling can be hit & miss, at times, so I figured I would just check out and into someplace that better fit my needs. The owner/clerk did not want me to leave, and refused to bring my baggage down. I had to wrestle it down myself, from 3 floors up, and with my medical issues. (which I told him about) He tried to charge me for my entire booking, instead of one night, then attempted a rip-off, on the exchange rates. His final affront was refusing to give me change, for the money I had given him. Fortunately, only a few Bolivano's, but it's the principle. It's a shame. It is a very quaint looking place, and seems quite nice, but with those kind of business practices, who needs it?
We stayed here for one night when we arrived from Isla del Sol and wanted to leave for La Paz in the morning. The place was completely empty, we were the only guests. On the door it said: free wifi and 24h hot water. However, when we came back from dinner in the evening the wifi didn't work and when I asked to turn it on they asked: "when do you want it, toninght or tomorrow morning?". Apperently you have to choose. In the morning there was no hot water and when I asked they needed to turn it on which took an hour to heat up. The breakfast was slow (although we already told them the day before we needed to take the bus at 9 and wanted breakfast at 8). In the end we didn't have a chance to shower and missed half our breakfast. The wooden floors are extremely creaky!
quiet and nice hostel. We chose a top floor room which was very quiet, spacious but wifi was only available in reception area. Breakfast was good but quite small to feed two people. Hot water 24/7 and fairly good pressure even in top floor. Wooden floors creakedbut because we were on top floor the other guests didn't disturb us.
Horrible experience, the staff is really mean, service horrible and rooms average. We got at breakfast 8h55 and the manager reffused to serve it with very bad manners as they would close at 9h00. By the way, the wif-i did not work.
We stayed here based on LP guidance but without checking tripadvisor. Agree with most other reviews below. Owners are certainly not friendly and wouldn't give us an extra blanket whilst it was pretty cold at night. They are also away probably 50% of the time. The place is incredibly noisy and the floors are very squeaky. Rooms are spacious but showers are no good. Only hot water for a few hours at night and not in the morning. Beds are ok. Breakfast is fine too. All in all I think there are better options in town. We left after 1 night and stayed at a way nicer place.
Very basic accommodations. I think we went during a slow time because I only saw one other guest there. The whole time we felt like we were an inconvenience to the staff. They were super unhelpful and unfriendly. The morning we had to catch the boat to Isla de Sol we came down for breakfast at 7:30 (they say breakfast starts at 7) and we woke them up. It was weird because we had come down for breakfast the morning before and we told them we were taking the 8:30 boat, so it shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise. The guy then obviously left for the store to get breakfast supplies. The breakfast was okay; stale bread, jam, fruit juice, eggs, tea/coffee. We barely made our boat on time. They let us store our bags there while we were at the island, which was nice. When we got back he offered to sell us a bus ticket to La Paz, which turns out was about double what it should have been. Like many places, the bathroom had a pretty strong sewer smell and we had to keep the door closed. We’ve been in worse places for sure, but if you stay here, just go with low expectations.
We stayed in here in a very quiet time, so the price was very cheap. We seemed to be the only people in the hotel, but we never saw the staff, they seemed to be tucked away in their room. Hot water was a bit hit and miss but mostly good but the wifi is terrible. Rooms are freezing and beds / pillows leave a lot to be desired, but overall you can make do. Breakfast was basic which was fine, wait staff were grumpy! Was fine to stay for a few nights but have heard of better places!
This is going to be a rant, but I would hope you heed some advice from this, stay somewhere else. We had a 5 day reservation, but only stayed 3. They say they only have water from morning till 11, then 5pm till late, which was untrue, we tried to get a hot shower at 9 am, nope. We were trying all day, finally around 10 pm, we got some hot water. They say Breakfast included, but the second day, they said they didn't want to that day and there was no breakfast. The third day, same water issue, but now no electricity and wifi. Guy whos supposed to be at the reception, but instead just stays in his room all day, says the entire city has none. We went next door to the mirador and they had electricty, hot water and wifi with 1/2 the price and lake view TO TAKE AWAY from this, go to the mirador next door, or even the hostel diagonal from this place. Half the price, lake view, and has electricity, wifi, hot water and breakfast. It seems like it used to be nice at one point, but changed mgmt and now is the worst place Ive stayed during my 6 month trip.
