This gem of a B&B is just outside of town, in an authentic neighborhood, but so close to town you won’t feel too removed. The house is to DIE for—so chic, stylish, and open. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the common areas cool and enticing. The bonus is, of course, the hosts, who are so genuine and friendly, you’ll feel so welcome and cared for. And they know all the good spots and places to eat. I’ll definitely be back!

After spending my 50th birthday at the most spectacular beach on the planet (Balandra) this was the place we chose to lay our heads. Unfortunately, Niurka was away during our visit, but Mike cooked us the most amazing meal. The best meal we had in our 6 days in Baja. We ran out before breakfast, which I really regret, because this guy is a genius in the kitchen. No telling what we missed! Also, we really enjoyed their dog, as we were sure missing our 2 boys. She is a lovely dog. In the lead up to our visit, Mike was incredibly helpful with recommendations and very patient with all my questions. During our stay we told him we'd been very disappointed at a place we'd been at 2 nights before as they had canceled my husbands scheduled fishing trip without telling us. He told us where to go and who to ask for and we had a wonderful fishing trip. Our room was very private, and very, very clean. Also super funky. There was lots of comfy outdoor areas for me to smoke. It is a bit of the beaten path, and not very close to the main drag in La Paz, but this was exactly what we were looking for!

Our recent stay at Casa Xochitl was everything we expected and more. There is a small sandy road to get to it, but once you are inside, it’s an oasis. It is a tranquil, peaceful place with a beautiful garden. The personal touches of the owners, Michael and Niurka, are delightful, from the colorful paintings to the unique wall decorations speak to the uniqueness of this Casa. We had rented a car and Michael had patiently answered my queries regarding directions and travel information. The room we stayed in was wonderful with the palapa ceiling and with simple, elegant, Mexican touches. The bed was very comfortable. The room and the bathroom were very clean. The breakfast was filling and delicious with a treat of freshly squeezed OJ. This stay is more memorable than staying in a 5 star touristy hotel. We look forward to returning to Casa Xochitl and recommend it to our friends and family. Niurka and Michael are wonderful hosts.

We so enjoyed our recent stay at Casa Xochitl! Michael and Niurka, along with their sweet pup Bully, are wonderful hosts. They have crafted such a gorgeous space that we found it difficult to venture away! The house is about 10 minutes by car from the Malecon in La Paz, which was perfect as we found La Paz itself somewhat lacking in charm. The attention to craftsmanship is evident throughout, and makes one feel transported to Old Mexico. We slept wonderfully- the bed was very nicely appointed and extremely comfortable, but light sleepers may want to bring earplugs or request a fan from Michael, as the neighborhood roosters like to make their presence known. Niurka's meals are prepared con amor y sazon, and were the best of our entire trip. Her nogada and pipian sauces were absolutely delectable. Seriously, no exaggeration, don't bother going out to eat. Sunset from the hammock deck with a tray of Victoria con limon, sal, y Huichol is also not to be missed! We will certainly return next time in Baja, and hope to bone up on our spanish with Niurka before using Michael's insight to plot out a road trip up the coast.
