Typical Japanese OK hotel. clean but so tiny room and has no place to unpack our luggage. if short stay and less luggage , maybe . They have a public bath but this can only accommodate five or less. It is ok hotel no complaints except the price. Not just here but all over kyoto all over priced. We paid more than $220 for a room. That is insane for such small room. If it is other city, it will be less than $100 if it is a room like this. You can stay at the RITZ in osaka if you are paying that much. Stay in osaka and save money and take a train to kyoto. That would make more sense if you do not mind spending 30min to kyoto (15min if u take bullet train). Also Avoid any weekend , too many people . you go Osaka during the weekend and come to kyoto during the weekday.
We stayed 3 nights at this wonderful little hotel in Kyoto. Location is perfect, tucked in quiet small road but not far from the main road and within walking distance to restaurants, shops and some tourist attractions. Lobby is not big but nice with comfortable sitting area facing lovely little garden. Bedroom is decent size for Japanese standard and super clean. Breakfast was interesting spread of Japanese selection. We enjoyed it very much. Guests were mostly Japanese. So it was quite and peaceful. Highly recommend.
This hotel is well located in central Kyoto, very handy for shops and restaurants and a good base to visit the main tourist attractions in Kyoto. The room itself was very small with no view but was clean and it didn't both us too much as we were mainly out and about most days. It was fine for a 3-day stay. The zen garden in reception area was lovely, reception staff were also very helpful and efficient in checking us in. I would recommend going to the Iyemon restaurant which is right next door to the hotel which had excellent green tea inspired dishes including green tea beer!
love their family room for four which was well maintained and a nice size for japan standard. the in house onsen was small but zen looking out the little garden. location is fantastic within walking distance to both big local markets and a few mins to the jr and many great restaurant nearby. we stayed during the gion festival so it was really nice to walk around hotel with beautiful historic floata and street events.
We stayed 4 nights at this hotel. We booked very late and consequently had a small twin bedded room on the 3rd floor. The room was clean but dark and not helped by the dark decorations and furnishings. The staff were really helpful and pleasant and made our stay enjoyable. For example we had very heavy rain due to a nearby typhoon and were met at the door with towels as we were completely soaked. The buffet breakfasts were excellent. A huge range of mainly Japanese but some western foods which changed slightly each day. The breakfast was one of the best on our 3 week tour of Japan. We ate dinner in the restaurant once. Good food and well presented although quite pricey. I would definitely stay there again but book early to get a more spacious room on a higher floor.
The hotel is clean, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable of the area, they can make great recommendations. Location is great 3 minutes walk to the train station and close to other attractions. Room is small but it has all the things you need. Breakfast is very good.
Pleasant stay at Mitsui Garden Hotel Sanjio. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Though not completely fluent in the English language ,the staff tried their best to understand and help. Rooms were huge for a deluxe triple room. Beds were comfortable. Could open 3 luggages. Only the toilet was very small. Convenient as hotel is located near the train station. Many small quaint shops around.
Great hotel with wonderful service, a beautiful lobby with a garden and good breakfast buffet. It has an onsen that makes it a great experience. Centrally located and a ten-minute walk from the market. I highly recommend it
Positives: friendly staff, reception looks great with a view of a nice japanese garden. Well located in the center of Kyoto. Negatives: tiny, claustrophobic room. Absolutely no view (or horrible view). Poor breakfast. Room cleaning wasn't very good, trash was left in the room.
We found the hotel perfect for the 4 of us. Easy to go shopping, sightseeing and get a taxi back. Coffee shop across the road. Laundry - same day service. Quick breakfast to start your day. Staff do try very hard to please. Public jacuzzi where woman bath with older family members and babies - I felt very at home and comfortable. Rooms are tight for space - but it's Japan so to be expected. Recommended
