We really loved our time at the batik hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the manager JoLynn who recommended all the best spots to try the local food. She also helped us to visit the national parks and sights by explaining the best way to get around. The hotel is very central, 5min walk to the waterfront, surrounded by hawker centres and cafes, and next door to the Top Spot food Centre (if you love fresh seafood and busy local ambience). The room was clean and comfortable and they even had local Sarawak plunger coffee in the room. The shower was amazing! We can highly recommend this hotel.

There are really a lot of good things to say about this hotel. First, it is well located in the city. The building and the rooms are beautifully designed. Also, the nice bar is well supplied. We stayed twice for one night and they kindly kept our luggage while we were on a two days tour. Accessible by elevator, on the upper floors, we had rooms with a small balcony, overlooking the nice courtyard at the back. The staff are really very friendly, warm welcome with drinks and cake, and showed a genuine interest in our plans, offering their good advice. The pleasant rooms are very relaxing, spacious, bright, clean, very well equipped, comfortable beds. Very good quality tea and coffee is provided in the small kitchen of the room. Bathrooms are also very nice, a perfect rain-shower after being in the jungle. Our continental breakfasts were good. The best hotel experience and hospitality we had during our three weeks holidays in Malaysia.

My wife had planned the trip to Kuching and was looking for something a little different from the mainstream hotel chains. For me, her husband, a hotel is just a place to shower, plan, sleep and store stuff, and It provided all those functions perfectly for us. The outstanding, Boutique aspect, was the people. We were spoilt rotten and made feel like family. The team, we’d especially like to thank Joelle & Jacqueline and friends, for providing us with experiences that we’d never anticipated and are not in any tourist brochures. This service is not something we’d experienced in any other hotel, big or small, in our time travelling. Regards the room, it was large, comfortable, quirky and quiet. Sure, there were some things that need a little work, but give me a room in any hotel and I will find something. But to their credit, nothing was too much trouble, e.g. the safe didn't work but this was fixed within minutes. Great location when it came to food, funky bars, the river front and the touristy type attractions. We are hoping we can return in the near future, catch up, and experience more of what Sarawak has to offer. Well done team.

I stayed here many months ago while travelling with group of delegate for international summit of peace . This hotel provided me with very very very excellent service though I stayed only for few days only. The hotel staffs provided me info about places to eat, to go, and to relax. The night manager Muis (?) was very helpful . i dont forget the other staff member who helped me carried my luggage. No other small hotel could have this kind of service. However , few things to highlight: pros: 1. creative lobby design. 2. in-house bar with good whiskies. 3. excellent backview. 4. good Swedish restaurant. 5. Excellent location. cons: 1. Very bad tv channel for the price . It doesn't even have basic channels. 2. Noisy on the street side. 3. Noisy and leaked aircond. 4. broken shower tab. 5. refrigerator was not functional 6. Bad wifi signal 7. The furnitures looks like it going to collapse anytime soon. Overall 4 stars

I booked this hotel for my parents-in-law and sisters-in-law who were in Kuching to attend my wedding. They loved the hospitality shown by the staff, especially Jo-Lynn, who hung out with my sisters-in-law and even brought them to Bako for seafood. My family loved the location, which is walking distance to a lot of eateries and Main Bazaar/Carpenter Street. When they were not eating, they enjoyed hanging out at the hotel. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. They had trouble with the lights initially, but managed to work it out. They had a great experience at Batik and will definitely choose Batik again the next time they visit Kuching!

The hotel is in a very very good location. Located at the end of a 1km row shop houses in the middle of city. Very close to the Cat Statue, which is meant that the older malls were near. Good local supermarket about 50 metres away too. The nearest food outlet is a local coffee shop about 20 metres away with good kolo mee in the day and roast meats and cooked dishes in the evening. The ever so popular Top Spot is around the corner too. One can tell that a lot of heart went into the design and setup of the hotel, however, both software and hardware appears to have deteriorated over time. The basic concept was really really good and the level of details was excellent, the welcome reception (Sarawakian welcome rice-wine and cake) was beautiful, the hotel provides a carefully self-curated walking map of the city, coffee in room was a french press with Sarawakian coffee grinds. The breakfast was a mix of freshly cooked eggs and toasts and a small spread of cereal. It looked simple yet fulfilling (*note, looked). There's a nice day bed lounging area for you to read a book or do research for the following day. What I found lacking is really follow up and maintenance of the initial standards set. The aircon was rattling, the nice old wooden features in the bathroom needed some refresh. Bathrooms needs alot more lights too.The lighting in the room was well designed, but really, only about 70% of lighting features worked (fluorescent lights and bulbs blown here and there), which resulted in poor lighting in the room. My biggest problem was with the breakfast. 1 minute after the commencement of breakfast service, the coffee on the warmer was cold, not room temperature, but cold. Granted the warmer could have broke down on the very morning, but surely, you can't brew fresh coffee cold. 99% of fresh coffee machines in the world produce hot coffee. There are cold brewers out there, but that was probably not intended as the jar was eventually placed on a warmer. Also, the museli in the jar was stale, soft and flat. Breakfast was a total shame. I walked out of the hotel, and went for kolo mee and warm coffee, which totally saved the day. I really hope the owners of the hotel can do something about the current state of things, it is a really nice hotel, the fixes are easy. If one asks if I'll stay there again, I'm really not sure, it's leaning more towards a "no"...

Very impressed with this hotel - located close to the city centre sights, couldn't fault the room, staff were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgable. Would certainly stay here again if visiting Kuching.

Stayed for a couple of nights and could not fault the staff for their attention to our needs, breakfast and flexibility during our stay however it is also important to note what you are actually getting when staying at BB. We had a room facing the street and the noise is quite loud, scooters, music, people etc till well into the early hours, the pipes in the bathroom dripped constantly and the aircon was very noisy so all added to relatively disturbed sleep. The above said if you consider this to be a UK equivalent of a 2 star hotel then you will be ok, the room was spacious, the tiled floor a tad slippery when coming out of the shower and the paintwork etc. Needing a bit of touching up but as said the staff were very friendly.

Lovely hotel, kind staff, good location. On arrivel welcomed with ricewine and delicious chocolate cake. Staff will give you tips on where to go and eat (Top spot!). Pleasant backyard. Highly recommended!

I spent 4D3N at Batik Boutique for business. The hotel was beautiful (rich in Malaysian culture), comfortable and relaxing. I fell in love with the lemongrass scented ORGANIC bath gel & shampoo from Tanamera. It gave me that spa pampering I needed after a long and tiring day out on business. The staff went above and beyond, the management were very involved in guest communication and very helpful in helping us get around. The hotel is also greatly situated in the city, with THE BEST seafood in town just behind the hotel (great for bringing clients there) & experiencing local dishes like Hinava & Ayam Pansuh. Thanks for the recommendation Batik Boutique, you made it a great and pleasant trip. I will definitely be coming back if I'm ever in Kuching again.
