The views of the ocean, the access to a long and truly beautiful beach with such soft sand and stunning sunsets, a great pool that is the perfect temperature and size, and the quiet location of Beyond Resort make it a lovely place to relax for a few days. The room was comfortable because of the easy to control AC, the blackout curtains, inclusion of robes, beach towels, a bag to take to the beach, and the nice bed with high quality bedding. The fruit platter and the personalized welcome upon arrival into the room made the stay even nicer. The room was always very clean each day because of the impeccable housekeeping. Given the cost of the stay, the resort could supply more drinking water in the room without charging 10 bhat per bottle beyond the two that are provided. The bathroom, while of a good size, needs some refreshing to resolve all of the discolored tile on the floor and the peeling paint on the walls. The breakfast buffet is large, with many food options, most of which were Thai. Adding a few more Western options would make it even more appealing to a wider array of guests. The spa services are wonderful - during the stay, we really enjoyed the amazing oil massages that were easy to book and so well done. Thank you!
The hotel did not have options for food. There is only one restaurant on site and there were not a lot of food or drink options. Also got a feeling that they reuse food not completely eaten by guests to serve other guests.
Staff was terrific. They were very responsive. And most of the staff spoke English. If there was a problem, it seemed rough around the edges. For example, the stairs to our room had was a trip hazard. It could also use a fresh coat of paint in many areas. However, it is a place I could recommend. You just have to look out for some of the rough spots.
We were looking for a quiet hotel next to the beach and this was perfect. I would strongly recommend paying a bit more and staying in an ocean view room. When we arrived, we immediately upgraded because coming this far we wanted to enjoy the beachfront location. When checking in the lobby was at taste of what the views would be. The other rooms are down a path and felt isolated. Our new room was perfect. The Breakfast was varied but not spectacular. Going with my teen son though, we always left satisfied. There we plenty of beach beds and the private beach was clean and without hawkers. We tried restaurants within walking distance but the hotel restaurant had live music at night and with the sound of the ocean was worth it. The prices, if you order reasonably, we're not much more than the local tourist spots. Drinks while laying out are quite expensive though. A 2 minute walk along the beach and there are less expensive small cafes in the sand. We were there 5 days and didn't see the need to go into the 'strip of Ao Nong'. I didn't get a massage but would recommend checking out the many parlours both on the beach and street. They are about a quarter of the price of the hotel. We like to try new places but would definitely come back if we had the opportunity.
