Location is great. Close to the subway and malls. It is also close to the avenue of the stars, walking distance (10mins walk). There is 2 elevator servicing the 14F located on different side of the building. It has a max capacity of 7 people so large group would need to take multiple trips or take both elevator simultaneously. The room is clean, towels are being change daily but coffee cups (glass) are not getting wash. They leave it on the table (we leave it empty and obviously used). There are 2 times that we enter the room with it smelling like a cigarette. We assume that the person who cleaned it just went for the smoke and the smell stays after cleaning the room. It is the most logically idea we have. There is an exhaust fan installed in the room so we were able to remove the smell right away. The guesthouse has multiple rooms in it. We occupied 2 rooms with 4pax capacity each (we are a group of 7). Since, we occupied 2 rooms there are times the we goes in and out of our rooms specially when we were packing our luggage’s going back home. Someone called us in about it. Since the door makes noise when closing it (it is around 8am). Check in and check out process is easy. We came in more than 1 hour early for the check in but the owner or receptionist told us to wait for 10 mins and we can go to our rooms. Check out, they told us to leave the room keys in the reception table if they are not around. They ask for my passport for check in process (reservation is under my name)

Very clean, excellent location

Best thing about this hotel is that it is VERY clean and the staff are really lovely. The location is excellent, near bus route (really easy and cheap to get to and from airport) and metro. Air conditioning works brilliantly. Rooms are very small but fine for a few nights. Would recommend.

Exactly what I wanted and expected...room was tiny, perfect for one peron, and very clean. Check in was easy. It was hard to find if you don't know how Hong Kong addresses work, but easy otherwise. It was a little noisy but not bad. Great location, great value for the price. There was a safe in the room, and overall it felt safe and secure. I would book again.

Right place for the right price

Great place for the price. Basic place to stay, no windows in my room. Fantastic location right in the heart of Nathan road. Hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Would stay again.

The destination is better than the journey

As is normal in this area the hotels are small and tucked together in the upper levels of the buildings with a busy street bazaar below. Once you get past the incessant requests to buy this or that copy watch or have clothing tailored for you it is an adventurous trip up an elevator with some sketchy looking folks to get to the 14th floor. The good news is that there are a lot of cameras and I would think that it is fairly safe, although intimidating. Once you reach the room the staff is very friendly and will get you checked in very quickly. The room was nice and clean from the bedding to the floors to the shower / bathroom. In this sort of place that is by far the most important part. Space is at a premium in Hong Kong so don't expect a lot of free space. Overall I would stay at the Modern Hotel again, it is a great value in the midst of a happening TST locale.

Short stay in TST

Ground floor design is similar to TST Chung King Mansion. Do not expect a locked door with a phone outside to call as a 24hr check in. Nevertheless, the slept receptionist responded very quicky and friendly. Air conditioning is a bit noisy. 11am check out is a bit earlier than usual.

The staff make an average place a great place

I've stayed three days at Modern Hotel in HK. My plane was delayed and I managed to check in after midnight without having to pay extra fees. The building is not very nice and the first impression you'd get is that you've ended in bad place, nothing further from the truth: the hotel inside has nothing to do with the building. The room wasn't that big but immediately I felt that it was very clean and had everything I needed to spend the night in a pleasant way. In the end, the staff was always very kind and also asked me to change my room when a bigger one became available. I would surely go back there.
