Truly grand. Liked everything. Sent us on a bad tour, but made up for it with a complimentary private tour in a hotel car with complimentary cold water and cold towel.

A beautiful hotel in a crowded and hot city. A real oasis. Great servce and excellent food.

The Oberoi Grand in Kolkata (known to the local cab drivers are 'The Grand Hotel' -- mention 'Oberoi' and they seem to get very confused) is a fantastic property in Esplanade that puts you within walking distance of New Market, Park Street, the Victoria Memorial, and all the rest of the Kolkata chaos. However, it does this while maintaining itself as a an oasis in the mayhem -- once you step inside, you don't hear the noise from the street and the pool area is a mini paradise in the city. The rooms are historic but well appointed, with wifi and power points easily available. Breakfast is also phenomenal, and the buffet has such a spread of Indian and Continental options that you won't even need to eat lunch. Particularly amazing, however, is the staff, from Farzana at the front desk to Richard who is managing the show. Everyone from the security at the gate to the runners bringing your food is geared towards ensuring your luxuriously royal stay at the hotel. We have been returning every year for the past four years just to see them, and it has been worth the flight for every visit.

Room was good but no ironing board or iron. Breakfast had limited choices can be comparative with other 5 stars hotel. Bathroom needed up grading. customer service was ok , not outstanding or excellent.

From airport pick-up to airport drop-off, was a lovely experience. Reception (Aditya) was perfection, as was my time by the pool (in a palm tree lined courtyard). Food is good, rooms are spacious and nice, and the staff is very polite and accommodating.

Excellent hotel. Impeccable service. Highly recommend it.

What a wonderful first class hotel. The staff went out of their way to meet and exceed all expectations.

It is a very nice hotel for India. In this city a nice hotel is hard to come by. Some things are a little dated and the room smelled a little musty. The gym was nice though and the staff was great.
