But this place deserves it. It's on the very west side of town, on "Andy Devine Avenue" (remember that squeaky-voiced character actor who was Roy Rogers's "Cookie" sidekick in a number of movies). It's right off the Interstate but is als part of old Route 66, the longest stretch of which in Arizona stretches north from here to towns such as Hackberry and Peach Springs before looping down to join I-40 quite a ways east of here. Worth taking for old times' sake if you're not in a hurry. But back to the hotel: It's bright, clean, and comfy. Breakfast is better than expected for this chain. The staff is warm and friendly. It has a large porte cochere — helpful on Arizona's 100-degree days. And a personal check mark for us — it has 3 hard-rubber-wheel luggage carts, important for those like us who have a ton of stuff to bring in; air-filled tires are often underfilled and sag under the weight. Nice play to stay.
What a great hotel. From check in to breakfast. The staff are help full and friendly. The rooms are a decent size and the beds are comfy. The rooms have a small fridge to put you drinks in. The spa is the nice and warm and perfect for soaking in after a long day out and about. My boys loved the heated pool. Breakfast was filling and had a reasonable selection. We would stay here again if in the USA
The A/C worked twice the shut off during the night and never would come back on, it’s really nice to be able to sleep without being a ball of sweat The breakfast yuk, the pancake Machine doesn’t work, some weird gravy two biscuits and a orange Yep This is my last stay at a Holiday Inn and I’m a rewards member Sticking with Marriott from now on Oh and we are on the third floor and the floor has several lumps in it How can that be
Stopped here overnight on a recent road trip. This Holiday Inn Express falls short of others in that room furnishings are a little tired and not plush, but otherwise a good place to stay. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful and came up with a good suggestion of where to dine nearby. I experienced some minor room issues and staff very quickly came to my aid and solved it. The included breakfast meal is good and plentiful. I will be staying here again in the future. Considering what's available for motel accommodations in the area, this is probably a good choice.
Very nice hotel, clean and great location, staff was excelent. The only negative thing is the pancake machine was broken. I am not sure why they are getting rid of the waffle making machines and replacing them with these pancake machines that don't work. This is the second H.I.E. we have stayed at lately that the pancake machine was broken.
We arrived in around 9 in the evening and check-in was fairly efficient. The receptionist checked us into the second floor king suite and explained the amenities. We headed to the second floor where we were overcome by the smell of cigarettes and marijuana. We returned to the front desk and the receptionist moved us to the 3rd floor and said they were trying to hunt down the person who was smoking in the non-smoking rooms. The smell was so overwhelming that it was billowing into the rooms themselves along the 2nd floor. The third floor was fine. The room was extremely spacious and clean. It left something to be desired aesthetically, but it met our needs for the night. Breakfast was decent and the dining area was very clean.
The entire staff was incredibly nice. Everyone wanted to help you. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. It is definitely time to update the decor and bring in more comfortable furnishings. The hot breakfast buffet was excellent.
Easy on/off from RT 40. The room was huge with a couch, table & chairs, sitting chair, lg fridge & microwave. Everything was clean & somewhat updated. There was a terrible TV system, TV very small & needed two remotes to use it....one for on/off & volume with the 2nd for changing the channels. Breakfast was the usual HIE fare. My biggest problem with this location is I had originally only booked 1 day but then a day or two before I decided to add another day through the hotel itself.....no problem they said except when I got the bill they had increased my original day cost from $121 to $135 plus the added day at $145. Of course, do not have a problem with the additional day but do with the increas of the original as I kept the same day.
Stayed 2 nights while passing thru to Grand Canyon. Very nice and clean. Room was great. Breakfast was pretty good . Pool and hot tub were nice. A little pricey compared to the Choice Hotels we normally stay at, but overall comparable amenities. Would stay again.
Remodeled rooms from original, typical floor plan and amenities, located along historic Route 66. Friendly staff, ease of reservation. Definitely in our top 20 of Holiday Inn Express facilities, and we average about 10 or more a year for past 7 years, and are on a 21 day trip through Midwest to Old West (Colorado, Nebraska, California, Arizona and New Mexico). National IGH needs to reply and fix items listed for staff and facilities instead of having the hotel owner submit canned remarks to our critiques. There is not enough continuity in cleaning crews, and the pancake machines are always broken or breaking in over 90% of the facility’s we stayed in past five years. We specifically pick IGH for price, continuity, location and more modern than most other chain hotels. Thanks
