The Club House Hotel

The staff was both friendly and helpful; the breakfast great, and the location very good. However, the Club House Hotel is a bit difficult to assign a grade because there are two basic sections to it. The quaint front building(s) 200 or so years old, and the back, newer - think 20th century - tired annex where I was assigned. I did not see the rooms in the older section, but expect they have more quaintness than the annex's tired ones.

Stayed here on business as I have many times before but not for five years. Amazingly the staff remembered me. The hotel is well over 200 years old with all the charm and quirkiness this gives with none of the plain, blank, posh prison style of a modern concrete hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent, made with quality ingredients. The price is superb for the standards the Club House offers. It may be another five years but I will be back.

In the center of Kilkenny, walking distance from everything and the staff are wonderful. Was in a "newer" annex out back on the 2nd floor. Not "old and quaint", just "older and a bit shabby." Parking can be difficult to find as it is out back too and shared with other businesses on a side street.

This is a old hotel and I had the impression that, they are making some modifications but, it is not ready. The room was good, good bed, tv, good space, the breakfast was included (irish breakfast, juice, cereal...), very good staff and perfect location, howerver my room was smelling paint, the shower was not good (pressure and temperature).

I recently stayed in this hotel, found the location excellent, room was reasonably cleaned but found hairs in the sink and shower room. I also found the room cold and would have appreciated heating. Bed comfortable

Lovely place to stop about 5 minutes from the city. The restaurant was really lovely the staff at the Club House were really friendly and the breakfasts and evening meal were brill would stay here again not a place for people who find it a struggle of getting upstairs because it is an enlisted building which means they can't put lifts in.

Myself and 3 other friends visited the Victors Restaurant at the Club House Hotel today. To be greeted with a smile and pleasant manner by Caroline was so welcoming . We were giving our Menus and some time to read and to decide what we wanted for our lunch and then Caroline returned to take our order. Within minutes we had our food. On return to collect or place we were asked were everything to our satisfaction. Our plates were then taken along with our Dessert orders. And again to our satisfaction we had our desserts within seconds. I personally watched Caroline dealing with other guests that were sitting for lunch and I have to say she is a credit to your business. It would be great to see more people in restaurants around kilkenny.

Simple, clean room in a creaky old building. Very pleasant staff. Breakfast was hot and filling. I don't understand the negative reviews here. We paid $90 US for a one night stay and thought we got more than our money's worth.

As we needed a night away we headed to Kilkenny to the clubhouse hotel. The hotel is very badly in need of renovation and looks like it is in the process as we spotted a painter doing up a room. It’s a lovely only hotel and has so much potential if it was refurbished. The flowery carpets and terrible decor let it down. Our room was painted from head to toe in a kind of magnolia even the bathroom but it was clean, note not soundproof!, and did the job for one night. We had dinner which we couldn’t fault, lovely. The breakfast was poor, no self service hot buffet though as waitress took our order which we don’t mind only my poached eggs were over cooked and my hubby ordered the full irish and got one sausage 2 bacon one over cooked egg a very small portion of mushrooms and a half of a piece of black pudding! there were 3 staff so don’t know why and the wait was 30 minutes. The staff were very nice though and as it was only the one night and we did get a deal online we didn’t really mind, but we won’t be going back unless it’s had an overhaul.

Stayed at this hotel 13th -16th oct and have to admit my first impression was'nt very good.It clearly needs updating of the bedrooms and hallways although the rooms were cleaned every day and towels were replaced everyday also. The hotel is very well located in the town with easy access to all nearby pubs/restaurants and sights. The breakfast was as good as any that I have had in any 3 or 4 star hotels anywhere in Ireland or Europe. The bar/dining area was very much by the locals which is always a good sign and again the bar food was reasonably priced with a selection to suit most people. We had a couple of decent meals and even changing some items on the menu was'nt a problem. I would go back again if i'm in Kilkenny in the future.
