Overnight stay on business. Location is great and the gym and pool is a plus. If you go swimming bring a swimming cap or be prepared to buy one. Room was large and ok, slightly tatty but nothing serious. Staff very friendly and helpful

Stayed for 2 nights on a rare weekend away without the kids and was quite disappointed at the standard of accommodation at the Kilkenny Ormonde. My wife booked the trip, direct with the hotel and based on its location and some of the reviews I expected more. Before we arrived I ordered a bottle of sparkling wine for our room - it was obviously brought out off the shelf moments before check in as was warm with no ice to even attempt cool it. We had a corner room on the 3rd floor which was adequate, very dated but reasonably comfortable. The windows had been left open so we put the cold down to this. We headed out soon afterwards and on return that night the room was freezing. There was no aircon but a radiator so my wife rang reception to find out how to heat up the room - you can't was the reply - its centrally controlled. We both had colds the following week - just saying. One of the staff in the spa asked her about it the next morning - she was the third guest in the spa that morning to complain about the cold (and this was at 10:30) The bathroom was very dated, tiled shelves not fitting etc but I could get over that if the room was comfortable which it wasn't. The following morning, after a very poor breakfast offering we used the leisure centre. This was the highlight of the stay. My wife had a spa treatment while I used the gym and sauna - both really big by hotel standards and an excellent way to start the day. Location is what the hotel has going for it. Within a few minutes walk of the heart of Kilkenny and a car park across the road with plenty of parking. €5 a night parking was good value for the central location. Tried the bar that evening but was left 10 minutes to be served as no bar man on (he had gone off to get wine to restock the fridge) 2 drinks here then left as too cold to stay there. Breakfast on our second morning was again poor, had to hunt down someone to get us tea or coffee as was not offered. Ordered Eggs Benedict which came made with a rasher rather than Canadian bacon - would like to think it was the chefs twist on it but know it was a money scrimping idea. Again the standard of the breakfast was very poor. Wasn't asked about our stay at check out which was telling. In summary, we paid €190 a night for an average room with a poor breakfast in a great location. I get you're paying for the convenience but the offering was disappointing.

Great location right in the centre of the city. Spacious rooms and good selection for breakfast. Staff both at reception and at breakfast very friendly and helpful. Great water pressure in the shower - it certainly woke me up! Would recommend it to anyone.

A lovely hotel. Great big spacious room. staff really lovely and helpful. Bar area is a little too small though. breakfast is lovely and the staff at breakfast were very attentive. My husband hurt this knee earlier in the day and the lady at reception kindly gave him a ice back which was a really nice gesture.

Kilkenny Ormonde is a centrally located hotel adjacent to the castle and High Street! It has a leisure centre and an all you can eat buffet breakfast, making it great value at €75 per couple! They also provide information on attractions for tourists and run many conferences, weddings and functions! Great for big groups!

The Kilkenny Ormonde hotel is a really nice hotel. The staff are friendly and make you feel like you’re one of the family. Not something that you experience in many hotels. However the room I was in was large and tidy but had a hard uncomfortable mattress, the bathroom was ok but the shower didn’t have a great pressure to it. Don’t know if I’d stay here again

Not a 4 stars hotel anymore. Used to be maybe. Saving heating energy and when you call the reception because you are getting cold. They just answer heating will come me back in 2 hours due to programmation. Bathroom are old and a lot of maintenance need to be done. Disappointed.

Lovely family celebration at Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. The staff were friendly, kind and accommodating of our large group (including small children). The food at the family meal wasn't the best, we have a lot of vegetarians and vegans in our group and despite ringing ahead there wasn't much thought into providing anything suitable. However we understand that a lot of hotels are still getting used to the idea of vegetarians, particularly vegans so I imagine this will improve in time. The facilities are great with an excellent spa and a great swimming pool. The location in the city centre across from the castle park was brilliant. So easy to stroll into the city or go across to the castle park.

This hotel was beautiful and very comfortable. We we’re on a tour bus and the walk to town was a little too far for us to walk at night in the rain. The breakfast at the restaurant was very good with lots of selections.

Was here for Kilkenomics brunch .... was also here last year for same function. They haven't improved their breakfast service (for conventions - not regular breakfast) .... It was no surprise how many were coming for brunch.... yet, long, long, long lines ... Orange juice dispenser, slow dribble, caused long delays. Only one station for food ... On our table, (we are not in food service), but we couldn't help wondering / talking about it ! Why, oh why, don't they just put the juice on the table, and set up 3 service stations or bring food out earlier ... surely, can't be that hard ? Still this year, at least there looked like there was enough food..... last year, I was at the end of the queue, and ended up with just toast .... The alternative brunch at Langton's sounds as tho' it was heaps better !!! .... next year .....
