It's a lovely hotel couldn't fault it only thing is that there u will need to get a taxi to the town there is load of parking on site. Breakfast was lovely and staff staff really do go out of there way for you. The rooms where huge bathroom was a bit small lol but I would still return soon.
Hotel was clean and staff was courteous and very helpful. When we checked in the gentlemen at the counter gave us an early check in and directions to the town and the tower. He sold us on breakfast which we were not planning on but were happy to eat there. The food was great! It's a buffet style meal done quite well. Eggs were delicious! Thank you.
Visited this hotel at the end of April for a quick weekend break. When we arrived we barely looked at the room, I threw my clothes on the bed and we went straight out for the day. When we arrived back to the hotel around 9 to get ready to go out that night I noticed an ant on my hand. Thought nothing of it and flicked it away. Then we stared noticing a couple more so I used my phone light to search where they were coming from and found a crumpled biscuit at the floor beside my bedside locker covered in ants! That's when we started noticing a couple of dead ones on the bed and one or two live ones. I was disgusted as my clothes had been sat there all day. We rang down to reception and were told to come down to get a new room. Got given two new cards without even getting an apology or an explanation. As we only had one night we didn't want to spend the night thinking about it so accepted that. The other room in fairness was nice and clean. The issue was when we rang the next day to complain and wonder why we weren't offered so much as an apology we were told we needed photo evidence of the ants!! The complaint or incident should have been logged as soon as it happened and it's disgraceful that you would need photo evidence of something so serious happening in a hotel room! The manager and the cleaners clearly would have noticed them as soon as they checked the room. Not happy with how the situation was handled what so ever! Won't be back and would advise anyone to check rooms thoroughly before staying.
I'm giving it five stars because it does what a hotel should do; it's clean, beds are comfortable, staff is friendly. We arrived early they got us a room as soon as available. The staff was so friendly and very informative.
Stayed for one night. First the positives, clean room, nice bathrooms, friendly service and a very good breakfast buffet. Property is a little far from the center of town but no issue if you have a car. WIFI was slow and intermittent. The only negative is that the bar in right in front of the lobby. We returned from having dinner around 10pm (Sunday Apr 30), the entrance to the lobby was literally a smoke cloud due to the amount of people smoking outside, once past that you were greeted by a group of drunken people...nothing wrong with that but not the impression you want in my opinion.
First, I had occasion to stay in three different hotels in Kilkenny in a recent fortnight, (one 4 star, one 2 star and this 3 star) and was so impressed by this one that I thought I'd add it to my TA page. It is some years since I previously stayed here, and, certainly having no bad memories of that visit, and given that it's been refurbished in the meantime, I saw no reason not to book again. So, before typing this, I read the Terrible & Poor reviews. I don't see the point in reading how wonderful a place is, I make my mind up on the poor reviews, odd as that may seem. And, I have to say that, with the exception of noise in the corridors late at night, now that would drive me mad too, the other negative comments were fairly trivial and were excellently responded to by the Manager & the Operations Manager. Further to the hard working hospitality worker's tirade, I too am a hospitality worker of some 30+ years, having owned and run my own bars & restaurants, and yes, I do agree that being in the business, one often does turn a blind eye to poor shortcomings. But, in this instance, the management clearly refuted the complaints, fairly. In any case, I'm staying again this weekend. Our last visit was superb. The receptionist caught my eye and welcomed me the second I crossed the threshold. The barmaid, Nicola, (Nicole, maybe) was friendly and attentive, and with a touch of polish, would be even better. She is an asset to this hotel, they should be careful that she's not poached. The room was more than adequate. Clean, functional and with a well equipped bathroom. We had dinner on one night as we had travelled a distance. The catch of the day & steak were both pronounced excellent. The only quibbles, personal mind, would be the amount of diced salad on both plates. Far too much. Plus, the good wine ordered and poured, was not the grape as per the winelist - but, it still went down well! Nicola was on duty at dinner, as well as at breakfast next morning! Superwoman. Incidentally, there were pyjama'd children running up & down the corridor, through the restaurant. No one got hurt, nothing broken, just the nice atmosphere with the sound of their laughter! And, the breakfast at The Aspect was, without doubt, the tastiest breakfast of the three hotels we stayed in. We are looking forward to staying again.
First the good points , lovely friendly an helpful staff . Small but enjoyable choice for breakfast. Our room was small and overly heated, not the most comfortable bed and lots of noise from doors banging in the corridors outside our room , bathrooms average. The hotel is located quite a way out of town
We decided to try the Aspect for food as we were staying around the corner from it and we were glad we did. the food was so nice we went back the following night. the cottage pie was absolutely gorgeous and a decent size. the staff (Ian) was a gentleman and so were the waitresses. they accommodated for the kids very well where most restaurants don`t they just had you a kids menu but the Aspect gave us what we ordered which wasn't on the menu. lovely setting and nice overall.
Stayed March 31, 2017 Was in Kilkenny for a short period of time, upon arriving and freshening up, we approached the desk clerk for direction to downtown and parking. Was surprised how close the hotel was to the center of things. He told us of a parking lot that leaved the gate open after 6PM and sure enough we were able to wander the streets, eat dinner at Kyetelers and shop a little more afterwards. Hotel was clean and comfortable - breakfast was extensive, and if there was something that you needed that they didn't have on the buffet all you had to do was ask!! Sort stay, but enjoyable.
Stayed here with friends, we were visiting kilkenny for the weekend. We ended up having an early night due to a long day of sightseeing in the wonderful city...unfortunately there seemed to be an issue with the pipes as every so often a loud sound like a fog horn would wake us up for around 20 minutes at a time throughout the night. This happened 5-6 times. Also there were groups of lads and girls running up and down the corridors but the porter couldn't stop them though he tried - we could hear him pleading with them to be quiet. The room was also roasting! ! No temp gauge that we could see. The residents bar is very disappointing. The good points were the staff were friendly enough and the breakfast was good. But man, I didn't sleep a wink.
