What a great and fun idea for wannabe campers like me! I suppose I thought it would be a little less like camping (somehow thought there'd be electricity since there is plumbing) but that didn't really matter (they offered power blocks to charge phones, offered lights, etc). We loved the concept and had a great night sleep (Star Gazer tent is the way to go). The staff were all very nice and helpful. The outside deck had a gorgeous view of Mt Rushmore (very cool to see all lit up at night). The bummer was it rained (long and hard) which combined with not being able to have your car near the tent resulted in our being reliant on the staff to assist with shuttling us to/from the dining / main room and the cancellation of the many cool things they offer like free s'mores, outdoor music, etc. Overall the tent was clean and a very cool experience. It would have been perfect - even at this price point - if the weather had cooperated.
The stars at night were wonderful and we had deer right up to our door. The bathroom was fairly clean, but there were hairs all over the sink and the toilet was not as clean as I would have liked. Overall, being out in nature was great and the view of Mt Rushmore was exceptional.
Liked how close to nature you feel. You can see the sunrise from the property.
This was absolutely amazing! We had the best time. So clean and friendly. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. I could go on forever about how much we loved this place! We also enjoyed having a view of Mt Rushmore while we relax in the common area.
It is a tent with a bed inside. The tent is too close to each other, there is not much privacy. I think it is convenient for people who want to experience camping. I think it is over charged for the room.
quiet, except it stormed and rained on us but added to the experience.
Great location with a (long) view of Mt. Rushmore. Lovely outdoor deck with live music and great meals available on-site, including great vegan options. Wonderful easy hiking trail on-site. Lots of amenities, including bonfire, bags, grills, picnic tables.
Was looking forward to this stay. Got a Stargazer tent. Seeing thousands of stars from your super comfy and warm bed is an experience you should try once. Didn't need to use the stove for heat even with the temperatures going to down the mid-50s, as the bed was warm. Worth the extra money for the bathroom in the tent. Staff is super friendly and frequently asking if you need any assistance, while you're in the Main Camp Tent during dinner time. The scenery is amazing and seeing Mount Rushmore light up at night was a treat.
Under Canvas is a fun and unique way to stay. The staff was kind and helpful and the facility had the feel of an upscale hotel. We had an excellent camping experience and look forward to staying again.
The entire experience was excellent and exceeded our expectations. Had a little trouble with the firewood provided but the tent, staff and accommodations were top notch and the views were incredible. Can’t wait to come back!
We were met in the car park by one of the staff, who showed us around and escorted us to our tent. The staff maintained that level of attentiveness and friendliness during our whole stay. The tent was wonderful and luxurious! The dining room patio has a great view of Mount Rushmore. The food was lovely. All in all I loved the experience and hope I get to go back one day.
