Murphy's of Killarney has the feel of an old gold-rush hotel in the California mountains. The rooms and appointments are simple, but it is OK. We liked the Irish breakfast every morning, and the trad music playing in the bar. The WiFi is not so good, but they have a lounge on the 1st floor which has best reception. An amazingly good restaurant is housed on the 2nd floor — Lord Kenmare's — but that the subject of another review. Since it was our honeymoon, they sent up champagne — very nice!
We were very impressed with our rooms and the full Irish Breakfast served daily at Murphy's Guesthouse. Carrie was wonderful and friendly each morning at breakfast and brought a smile to our days in Killarney! The hotel staff was great! The rooms were clean and quiet, the location was ideal, and the price was very affordable! Murphy's Bar also adjoins the Guesthouse and is filled with lively music and fun for everyone! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Murphy's Guesthouse and will stay here again!
We recently stayed at Murphy's during a trip to Ireland. Our room was very clean and quiet, and included breakfast in the attached pub. The guest house also has an elevator which made it easy to haul our luggage to our room. The staff could not have been nicer - especially friendly and helpful. Great traditional music in the pub at night too! We'd definitely stay here again.
The Women of Worcester, ten of us, stayed at Murphy's Guest House for four nights. Each morning we were greeted by Carrie and the waitstaff who made our breakfast enjoyable. They reserved our seating, were prompt with our orders and very personable, so friendly and warm. They offered suggestions for places to visit and ensured we were well served. We were thrilled with their service and advice. We loved the location, enjoyed the staff in the breakfast room and pub and found the rooms to be clean and comfortable. A great value! Thank you to Carrie and all the other staff who made our stay so memorable! Would definitely staff at Murphy's again...
We stayed one night and it was a great stop. The staff were awesome and the rooms were comfortable, clean and a great value. Breakfast was included in the bar area and there were so many choices including full Irish.
we stayed in murphy's on a Sunday night got a lovely room in the front as requested we had a lovely dinner in the bar The bar staff were very friendly and helpful The girl at reception was very polite and friendly We had a great breakfast with as much food as we could eat with the waitress asking us a few times if we were ok for everything We really enjoyed our stay in the centre of Killarney and hope to go back there again
Had a great stay in this old Hotel right in the heart of Killarney, very friendly staff and a warm friendly atmosphere in the pub. The room was a little small but comfortable and clean. We managed to park on the street right across from our room so that was good. The breakfast was really good. I would recommend Murphy's to anyone. Not only that but my Grandfathers name was Murphy, so I bagged a nice Murphy's bar Tee shirt !!
My family and I stayed 1 night during Christmas week and were able to have dinner in the pub, later listen to traditional Irish music and then go up to bed. It made it all so easy. i was concerned as to whether the rooms would be quiet but it was very quiet and we had a nice stay in what you would consider a basic room with a comfortable bed. There is a basic breakfast included in the pub. The staff was helpful to us as the airlines had lost our luggage. We would stay here again.
Lovely place -right in centre of town -great staff - lovely atmosphere. We had a really big comfortable rooms - ready when we got there and no hurry with the check out. (it was after noon when we checked out). They have really good food in the bar - at reasonable prices - and we had a great formal dinner upstairs in Lord Kenmare's Restaurant - and the prices there are very reasonable too. There are two car parks within 3 minutes of Murphys - for a couple of euros you can park all day. Killarney Golf Club is just 8 minutes by car and everywhere else you walk because you are right in the middle of the action - mostly you remember the friendly helpful people you who work and run Murphys. I'll be back! PJ John Eamon and Martin
This Pub and Guesthouse was one of the highlights of our trip. The rooms were very comfortable and clean at a great price. The atmosphere in the pub was cozy including a fireplace. Great breakfast to start the day. Excellent live regional music along with an Irish pub dinner menu. There is a dinner house as well. All the staff were very cheerful and helpful. Very popular spot. Good deal for the money. Will definitely stay there again.
