We made our way from Dublin to Killarney with several overnight stops along the way. The Arbutus Hotel was wonderful and we wish we'd had more time in Killarney. The hotel was perfectly located so we could walk to shopping and pubs. Rooms well-appointed and modern. Lovely bar and lobby and breakfast.

My wife and I took a short break in Killarney (3 days) and we stayed at the Arbutus Hotel. The location is excellent, close to the center of the town and a very short walk to the main street with its excellent choice of shops, pubs & restaurants. The hotel style is best described as "old world", with chandeliers, wall to wall carpet, big old arm chairs etc. The rooms have a real key to open them. Do you remember keys, those metal things you put into locks and not some some plastic card :-). However not to be confused with being old, the hotel is fresh, well maintained and spotless. The room was also of high quality and the bathroom was fresh, large and airy. Breakfast was included and followed the same old world charm theme, with breakfast made to order. There was a really nice menu to choose from and breakfast was served quickly & was delicious. Free WiFi is also included and worked well, including in the room. Also in the room was tea & coffee facilities and in the reception there is a really nice bar, perfect for a quick drink before going out or for a late night tipple before bed. A tip for anyone driving, beside the hotel there is a park & pay area. It cost €1 per hour between the hours of 8.30 to 18.30 and is free to park there at night. You can also pay in advance, so if you park at 18.31 and pay €1, you can park there until 9.30 the next morning (or until 10.30 if you pay €2). So you don't have to rush down in the morning. Also if you want to park up the car for the day and take a tour for example, just up the road (~100m or so) there is an all day car park for just €3. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, they are a credit to the hotel and I can't say enough nice things about them. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely return myself in the future.

Had an old world charm.Great place to take a break and watch Killarney go by. it was within walking distance to all Killarney had to offer. We had dinner twice in the hotel and not disappointed either time. Great pub located right in the hotel.

We arrived early evening, weather was a bit chilly, lovely fire and warm welcome from Ina made up for the weather. We were offered complementary tea and homemade ginger cake when we had settled in which was much appreciated. Ina Michelle and Katie were professional, friendly, informative and nothing too much trouble for them. Our large ensuite room on the first floor although dated was comfortable, very clean and felt very homely. I would have liked a chest of drawers for my smaller items, especially as we had a seven night stay. The room was facing the main street, and although it was an extremely busy weekend we were not disturbed by noise of any discreption. The home cooked breakfast was second to none and Betty our main waitress did not have to be reminded how I liked my eggs and toast cooked. I was not made to feel I was been nuisance for wanting something a little different as can sometimes happen even in 5* hotels. Well done Betty. We had a wonderful holiday and would definitely recommend this Hotel.

This hotel was awesome, it felt like home. Everyone was especially kind and generous. We were there for the 4th of July thinking it would be just another day since we weren't in the states. BUT it wasn't, they decorated and had a parade and truly made us feel welcomed.

Great location for Killarney town itself and a base for some touring. Facilities were excellent for us with the highlight being enjoying a good pint by the fireplace while one of the frequent showers had the tourists in Killrney scampering for shelter. Trip suggestions by the staff were spot on and we were sorry to leave.

This is a lovely old style Irish hotel. We got a very warm welcome at reception and were offered tea/coffee on arrival. In fact tea/coffee was offered many times as we passed by reception during our stay. Our room was clean and spacious will full bath and shower facilities. The hotel generally was very clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast was delicious and there a great choice of hot food. There was also a a wide range of fruit, cereals, bread and scones to suit all tastes. The location was great, within walking distance from the train station, restaurants, pubs etc. Overall a very pleasant experience.

This is an older hotel. The Lobby and Restaurant have been updated and is attractive. The Room I stayed is older , but Adequate. The Shower is Small and was hard to adjust the Head since it was up very high. Our room on the Front was very Noisy.. The weekend we where there was a Banking Holiday, so everyone seemed to celebrate over the Weekend till 3 AM. Hard to sleep with all the Noise. The Staff was great. The Breakfast was Excellent. The Pub was adjacent to the lobby and had entertainment over the Weekend. Easy Walking Distance to restaurants and Shopping.

Everyone made us feel very welcome :) the breakfast wait staff were especially helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and spacious and the bath products smelled fantastic! Wish I would've asked where to buy them! Would definitely stay again, the location was perfect...So many pubs and shops nearby :)

At reception we were warmly welcomed and offered tea or coffee and cake, which was appreciated after our journey. Car parking was explained, the hotel has no car park but there are plenty of options around the area. The room was quiet and cosy and the bed comfortable. So far things were good. Breakfast in the morning was a let down. Fresh orange juice would have been nice instead of the watered down concentrate. The cooked breakfast needs to improve. Bacon, sausages and black pudding were, should I say, not great. The chef tried but could only work with what they were given. On the second morning I had boiled eggs, which were perfectly soft. The hotel is in a great location and maybe doesn't need to provide a better quality of breakfast to attract customers. It's a shame, if we visit Killarney again we will be staying in another hotel.
