Beautiful lodging, thoughtful and friendly staff. A dream in the Irish countryside!

Marian the receptionist and Josephine who took over our breakfast service were both wonderful !!! Our room was lovely and the Elemis products and nice hairdryer were a plus 🤗. The sitting rooms and atrium were all beautiful and relaxing.A guest sat down and played the baby grand piano which was a nice surprise. The cellar bar was non descript but our server was very nice. Menus were a bit lacking and we ended up elsewhere for dinner. Breakfast was a bit odd with our 1st server... 1 slice of french toast cut into quarters and 1 sausage was a bit sparse compared to any B&B in Ireland, never mind a manor house hotel the quality of Cathernane House. When asked for a second sausage the server said she would have to charge for the sausage... we said then charge for the sausage (which they didn't do) but that seemed rather nuts considering the full Irish conisted of 2 sausage, bacon erc...and the french toadt was 1 sluce wth one sausage !!! Overall the setting and the property were lovely and the staff mentioned were outstandung... 2 others could use some additional hospitality training, but, maybe the ladies were having an off day, so they shall remain nameless 😉

LOVED the great rooms and fireplaces. Mulled wine in crystal punch bowls - divine. Rooms themselves were average and chilly but worth the stay for the grounds and common areas alone. Staff is friendly and helpful and the porridge (yes really) was FANTASTIC.

The hotel has recently been purchased; its website is gorgeous! However, its appointments are in need of upgrade. We had heard that some of the (more expensive) rooms (We had deluxe double booked.) had been redone, but ours, while very large, was in need of refurbishment. The upholstery was stained and ripped; the wallpaper, too, was faded and patched, while the bathroom's more modern fixtures of hair dryer and fan were not working effectively. The historic manor home is beautifully set. Upon arrival, via the rutted drive, we were greeted by scaffolding outside our room and an apology note in the room -- no other consideration offered. The staff appeared hard working, helpful, and polite. The breakfasts were wonderful. Finally, this manor house may offer a lot of charm to ALL of its guests once the condition of the rooms has been addressed.

We had a wonderful time here! Very spacious room with absolutely gorgeous view - wide open meadows. Large window in room. The only thing that I didn't like is the weird smell/fragrance in room. And the beds could be improved. But the beautiful views, very cozy lobby and several living rooms to hand around. A huge sun room with very nice decor. Wide open meadows to walk around, very quiet and getaway from all feeling, there's even a swing under a tree!! And staff is super friendly and courteous. Their breakfast was good. Pancakes were just heavenly!

the staff was wonderful helpful friendly and accommodating. they went out of there way to make me feel welcome, and educate on the town and history of the beautiful manor house. one day on my stay i found a lost dog. they moved me to a room so i could keep him over night and they helped me find the ark animal shelter (who it turns out were looking for the dog). my point is they were accommodating to a very unusual request. not a complaint of mind but may be important to others the internet was unreliable in my room so i hung out down stairs in the library or entry room by the fire place to do my internet needs- this was fine because it allowed me to interact w other guests but i know some really prefer the privacy of their own rooms

This is such a gorgeous property - it is truly a manor house and the staff do make you feel not just like a guest, but as a guest of the manor. The room was well appointed with a comfortable bed and a great bathroom, but the highlight of the building is the old woodwork and decor. The staff are truly exceptional and went out of their way to make us comfortable and happy.
