Stayed at the Abode on Monday, what a comfortable and room, love the furniture a fittings - very classy. Also stayed here in a Most Enviable room last month, which was a fantastic room and bathroom. The reception staff are so friendly and helpful, they really make a difference and help make the whole experience enjoyable. Brilliant location too.
Just returned from two days in Canterbury. Picked this hotel because of its' central location. Paid over £400 for two days. First night no sleep due to noisy neighbours in adjoining room. Little response or understanding from hotel staff. When asked if we had enjoyed our stay I explained our experience and then was promptly charged additional £27 for our parking. A small acknowledgement would have gone a long way. Pity. Wrote to the hotel following our trip but email was ignored. Pity. Won't be recommending.
Everything was absolutely splendid....from the ceremony to the evening party, not forgetting the really delicious wedding 'breakfast'/lunch, which was heavenly. The staff were so kind, helpful and went 'the extra mile'.
Wonderful stay, Wonderful rooms, wonderful staff. What more do you want, book now! We love this hotel. We have stayed here over 20 times & every time has been perfect. Restaurant is outstanding & we have been spoilt recently in Italy with food! Coming back to Abode soon!!!!
The room had a 'view' onto an internal shaft, possibly a service area with accompanying mechanical noise disturbance - although that may have been from the lift right outside the door. More serious was the dodgy wiring affecting the bed side lamp. When brought to the hotel's attention, they advised that their maintenance team was unavailable on a Sunday and hoped it was ok. I asked them to at least disconnect the lamp. After some umming and ahhing, they suggested we move rooms. That all took a good few hours to resolve on our single full day in Canterbury. There was no suggestion of an apology or (part) refund. Our room, and indeed the whole experience, was dismal and expensive - very far from the promised 'Enviable'!
The Sunday night dinner, bed & breakfast package was amazing value and at no time did we feel that we were treated any differently to the 'a la carte' guests. The restaurant was top quality but what makes this hotel so special is the staff.
I stayed in a suite for 2 nights. Overall I was happy- good food/drinks/service and the suite was enormous with an outside terrace which was great. However it was let down severely by cleanliness. The table in the living area was dirty (see pictures). I complained to reception and was told it'd be cleaned the next day. But it wasn't cleaned. At reception on check out I mentioned it again to a different person who was aware and said she'd told housekeeping to sort it. For the high price I paid for a luxury room, it was absolutely unacceptable. For that reason I won't ever be going back to this hotel.
I cannot find anything negative to say! I rung the hotel to help me find the car park, I got lost! There was a diversion & road closed off & I got stuck in the one way system. The receptionist RICKY said "stay where you are, I'll come & get you" He was with me within 5 minutes & got in my car & gave me directions to the car park & then offered to carry my bags for me. In my 48 years of life I have never come across such outstanding service. I've stayed in some excellent hotels in Dubai, Qatar & London but have never seen service like this! The room was outstanding too. Exceptionally clean, very modern & the pillows/mattress were perfect ( I had a super king sized bed ) There is high quality tea/coffee making facilities inc hot chocolate. Complimentary premium biscuits. There's a safe, iron & board plus a hairdryer. WIFI was strong enough to stream films on with no buffing or glitches. Complimentary bath items were also of high quality. Temp control AC in the room. My stay in Canterbury was beautiful & I will never stay anywhere else when in Canterbury. Abode is my new Abode when away from home!
The hotel was lovely and there is not a single thing to fault. We were greeted by a very polite receptionist and lucky to be upgraded to the Enviable room. This lovely room had the most amazing view of the high street outside. The bed was huge. The hotel was clean, well equipped and stylish. We had breakfast in the County resturant, which was a lovely experience. There was car parking nearby.
A one night stay at Abode is definitely not long enough. A great treat....so central we could walk everywhere we wanted. The staff are very friendly and make sure that everything goes well. Room was fantastic. We will be visiting Abode very soon.
