Well trained staff throughout the hotel. Excellent dinner but breakfast below par. £12 charge for parking car on some rough ground which purported to be a car park was rather excessive. The hotel is in an excellent location.
I was lucky to be upgraded to one of the top end rooms and it was lovely. The bed was very comfortable and there was a sofa and comfy arm chair for relaxing in. The coffee bags provided in the room were much appreciated and a big improvement on instant coffee. The highlight was breakfast with some lovely hot dishes available cooked to order. The buffet selection is not huge but there is plenty and everything I tried was very good.
We stayed at the abode on the 18th June 2017 Wonderful greeting on arrival very helpful gentleman on reception room lovely and clean, before dinner had relaxing drink in champagne bar meal was well presented and extremely tasty staff again very professional ,breakfast enough variety to choose from. Very enjoyable stay. Thank you the abode
We had a reservation for 4: 2 adults + 2 children. Although we made a reservation weeks ago, we arrived late at night and was nothing done at our room. The person at the front desk wasn´t very friendly.
Stayed on Saturday night after watching a show at the Marlowe Theater, which is only a few minutes walk from the the hotel. We stayed in room 114 which is fine, but no view as all you see from the window is the roof oposite. The room was was clean and the bed comfortable. But had no mini-bar which would have been nice. Overall a nice room, but over priced for what you get. The price is more or less the price of a good 4 star in London. We did not eat in the hotel, but did have a couple of bottles of Cristal champagne in the bar which was very pleasant. The bar staff was very good and they looked after us in a professional and polite manner.
This hotel takes pride and place in the centre of Canterbury. We visited Canterbury to see the show Running Wild at the theatre which is a short stroll from the Abode. The staff in the restaurants were good with a high level of customer service. The room which was over £400 for the one night fell short! It was very underwhelming and we felt disappointed. The pre theatre dinner was of a good standard and the breakfast excellent. The reason for the rating is for the location and I suppose that's what you are paying for! I would return to the Abode if visiting Canterbury again but I think they need to offer a little more room luxury for the prices they charge.
Very helpful and friendly staff members, nice, comfortable and clean room and very nice en-suite. Sound proofing not good and back rooms can be noisy because of groups of young people drinking at tables which looked as though they were sitting outside the back of pubs. Also, an unattractive view but that is to be expected whilst staying at an hotel situated in the heart of the city. I thought the room was pricey and was amazed it didn't include the cost of breakfast. I was surprised to find kettle etc in the wardrobe and milk left not too generous.
Have stayed here numerous times. Always an enjoyable weekend. We were given an amazing room upgrade upon arrival to a most enviable King room. The food was outstanding in the county restaurant and the champagne bar served great cocktails. Will definitely be back.
An excellent location. You literally step out of the hotel into the pedestrianised streets of Canterbury. Staff very helpful and friendly. There is a hotel car park for guests only on a first come first serve basis. It is £12 per 24hours, which I thought was a bit cheeky! We had a lovely big room, and very comfy beds!
The Abode is situated in the best possible location in Canterbury, in the center, excellent view of the Abbey, all the shops, restaurants and pubs in walking distance. Best service, great staff ! and provides elevator, air condition and room service, as all other close by establishments do not. My little problem ..or what would make it the best was , that, as a woman, I would appreciate a shower with hose.
