The Evenhill

My room was spotlessly clean and had an extremely comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious, one of the nicest I’d eaten for a while. Evening meals were equally as nice. All the staff were very pleasant. I can thoroughly recommend The Evenhill. It is excellent value.

We stayed for one night while visiting family. The room was situated on the ground floor next to car park. While curtains open there was not much privacy. Inside the room was comfortable enough. The pub / restaurant is ok. Food average. Had this been rated 2 star and much cheaper we wouldn’t have minded. It also seemed very understaffed though the staff that were available were friendly.

Stayed two nights for work. Very clean and good facilities. Great bath and shower. Even better was the food in the restaurant. Was steak night, could not fault anything. Staff were lovely. Rate was very reasonable to say breakfast was included and full english was amazing. Down again in a few weeks will stay again if available.

Deciding at the last minute that a breather down at the coast would be just right after four days of window fitting and decluttering, we went in search of suitably cheap but cheerful accommodation online. After pages of varyingly priced rooms scattered across North and East Kent,The Evenhill stood out with its incredible price and its location, so we took a punt. And what a great decision that was. Ideally placed in the heart of the countryside but perfectly positioned for our travels to Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Herne Bay, Whitstable and Canterbury, it served as a great base of operations. The room was modest but had everything that was required for our stay, with marvellous views, and an excellent bath which was perfect for the end of a hard day’s taking in the sights, particularly with the recent change in the weather. Impeccably clean on arrival and clearly vacuumed and tidied during our day out, the service here was second to none. Staff were friendly and genuinely went out of their way to make sure our stay was just right, even when we turned up at the literal last minute for dinner. That, by the way, was excellent, as was the breakfast which we managed in our first morning there, though was a bridge too far from the comfortable bed the next day. It is worth saying that we did notice the walls were rather thin when our neighbouring guests started raising their voices in a rather colourful altercation, and that MIGHT be an issue for some (and therefore might remove a point from my rating)but it was just as we were leaving and so for ourselves it was an absolutely first class experience, and for the value it provided I have no hesitation in giving those 5 stars.

We had a lovely time in this clean and well run hotel cum restaurant. The accommodation was clean and the room had everything that you would need for your holiday or days away. Aircon, heating, wifh towels so soft that you could sleep in them. The breakfast service was wonderful and beautifully cooked. Being only 3 miles from Canterbury and all its history Evenhill is ideal travelling in Kent.

We booked a table for a birthday celebration meal. Booking was easy. Warm welcome, no rushing us to the table. We were told were the table was and able to get drinks first and wait for the family to all arrive and then we went to the table when we were ready. The building is really interesting it’s very old with lots of beams and on different levels. Our table was on the upper floor, we were given an area where we could all be together and not inconvenience anyone else. The service was great, we had lots of different requests and she didn’t mind at all, she noted it all down and remembered when she served who wanted what. The food was delicious and cooked exactly to each of our requirements. There was plenty of choices from traditional steaks and burgers to a wonderful vegetarian Brie Wellington. Something for everyone. We didn’t stay overnight as we are fairly local, but all of us said we enjoyed it so much a stay would be good. Highly recommended.

We booked a weekend break, spur of the moment thing. Found that the main building was a reconstructed building, partly consisting of three former cottages and a proper pub. Accommodation wss in a purpose-built block at the rear. Plenty of parking and bus stops outside to Canterbury and Ramsgate. We discovered food portions are best described as "generous": Shepherd Neame beers on hand pump plus other beers, ciders, wine, available. The restaurant is located in the old bit: wobbly floors, beams, old fireplaces, very atmospheric. Here, too, an interesting, well-received menu judging by repeat local customers. Finally, a word about the staff. We found them helpful, cheerful and very fit! Must have been all the stairs they have to run up and down. I noticed they happily served a family with a dog in the bar. I would assume this is where any less able guests would be accommodated. It was a most enjoyable break. Thank you.

I booked this hotel on and not knowing where it was but close to Canterbury. We were greeted in the bar on arrival where we signed in quickly and was led by a lovely chap across to the room. As a former hotelier of 20 years I really appreciated that hospitality. The rooms are in an adjoining building and are quiet which is something as you are close to the A28. The rooms are well appointed with plenty of tea and coffee which put many hotels to shame. The room had everything you could want which includes PowerPoint for your laptop of phones. Bathroom was spacious bath is a nice feature and the room is clean comfortable bed and crisp white sheets. There is nothing negative at this place so give it a go as we will definitely come back. Well done owners of the hotel.

Perfect location to take the Channel tunnel, excellent and friendly staff, lovely breakfast and nice dinner as well. Very clean and easy parking. As we were coming back from Manchester and stayed for one night to take the train back to Calais, we didn't have the chance to visit the area, which I believe is really nice. I wish I had more time...
