It’s a basic hotel with one queen and three singles for the family. Room comes with continental breakfast served from 6:00am to 9:00am (but in low season, it ends at 8:30am!!). Bedding are dated but the sheets are clean. Towels were limited to two for a family of 4 for the three night stay. You can request for more from reception though and this seems to be the normal for most hotels in NT for environmental reasons. The free wifi which comes with being an Accor member is pitiful. Decor are a bit dated. Anyway, this place is probably the better one in the area and having the car parked right out front is definitely convenient! All in all, not bad value for money.
Great Break away.from the norm. The only let down was no open onsite restaurant. How ever it was wet season. The on site mangers were very friendly and assisted with creating an awesome BBQ. Very much appreciated. Pool was a favorite.
With very little to choose from in Katherine for family hotel accommodation, this was the only option I could see. Ibis Styles [Accore group] have taken this 'motel establishment' over in recent years and has done a little face lift to make it less tired and more accommodating. So I went with the brand. As with all Ibis Styles, you get a standard offering around the 2/3 star level. Somewhere behind the Mercure Crocodile hotel in Kakadu if you want a comparative. Not a huge amount of difference in it though. Mercure probably gives you a much better restaurant [really good food in Kakadu] and slightly better rooms and reception area. Compared to Ibis Styles Canberra [a solid 3 star] though, Katherine Ibis Styles was a 2 star at best. This is not to say that is was bad...it just wasn't special. All the basics are available for those on a road trip. The pool and gardens are well maintained and the restaurant offering for breakfast is basic but good [included in the room rate]. Wifi is available and there is an evening bar and restaurant [didn't eat there for dinner or lunch though] I got 2 queen rooms. Generally the rooms were clean - appeared to have new floor coverings. A fridge was available and tea making facilities. Aircon worked well [much needed]. I felt the rooms could do with an in room safe to keep valuables. Room furniture was pretty basic and maybe a little more attention needs to be paid to cupboards if Ibis want people to stay longer than 1 or 2 nights. The bed comfort was adequate and the sheets and pillows seemed fresh and were good to sleep on after a long day on the road. The bathrooms while not totally awful need an upgrade. At least a replacement of all the basics to bring it into the modern age. Service (Reception / Restaurant) - friendly and efficient Location - good location to get to the caves, Nitmiluk, local restaurants [not too many to choose from] and to pass by to other destinations [e.g. towards Alice Springs]. If I was going to Katherine again as a couple, I would probably do a significant upgrade to Cicada Lodge (a Luxury Eco-Resort) in Nitmiluk. Otherwise Ibis styles is more than adequate for the average family top end tour.
Our room was spacious, clean, excellent air conditioner. Manager was extremely helpful and attentive to ensure our stay was comfortable over the Christmas period. With the majority of businesses er. Closed within the town.
We stayed one night while on a group tour & going on beautiful Katherine Gorge river. We knew not to expect too much but of our 30 nights in Australia, this has to be the noisiest. The fridge made a noise, the room was shabby, it was brick primitive interior & basic. We de used to eat there- only other choice without transport would be supermarket food in room. I had salmon which was okay but nothing special but my husband ordered chicken which when it came had clearly been cooked before. It was hard on the outside & not edible. He complained & was not charged. If there is an alternative- then take it- otherwise get food before arriving.
I stayed here for 2 nights. I was in Katherine for work. To be honest I wasn’t a big fan of the hotel. The rooms were spacious and functional and would comfortably fit a family of 5 (1 queen bed, 1 single bed and 1 set of bunk beds). The pool was good. Staff were lovely. Hotel grounds were beautiful. What let it down was the cleanliness of the rooms and the restaurant food. Although my sheets and floors were clean, the whole room needed a deep clean. There was grime and dirt on the walls from visitors past. I spent 2 nights with a very vocal cricket behind my bed. The buffet dinner was a disorganised affair. Pick a theme people. You can’t have scolloped potatoes, mango chicken, baked ham and beef and black bean sauce in the same buffet! I’m sure there rules about such practices. It’s a shame because it has the potential to be fantastic.
Rooms are small and pokey, dark and dismal. The hotel complex is of a 1970's utilitarian design, reminicent of Army barracks units, which is a real shame as there is more than enough land to make a really nice hotel. We had to keep our curtains closed (no natural light) as the rooms directly faced each other over a carpark. Some net curtains on the window would have helped to let some light in and give some sort of sense of privacy. The housekeeping staff really didn't want to be there. They never left the full complement of towels and toiletries and when we asked at Reception for items it did seem to be a bit too much trouble for them. Having asked for two bath towels we were later (2 hours later and at the third attempt) given one bath mat and one handtowel. Having said that, one or two of the reception staff were pleasant and seemed to want to be helpful. The pool would also be a concern for me as there was no shade whatsoever and anyone in the pool would be in full sun. That probably explains why nobody used the pool in the 3 days we were there.
lovely clean fresh roomy accommodation, attentive staff., lovely setting very well kept and presented. Good food in the restaurant, very well priced for the level in f accomodation. Would be very happy to stay again
Hotel was ok, what we expected for the Ibis brand, we had a continental breakfast included which was ok, fresh food and good service in the morning (on our final day). The real let down here was the service of our room and cleanliness. Initial room cleanliness was poor, there were a number of dried spills on the carpet that we noticed on check in. Also, we were not provided with enough towels for the amount of guests booked. House-keeping was poor or lazy, our towels were not replaced despite leaving two on the floor and it seemed all the house-keeper had time for was making two beds, the bathroom, toilet etc were not cleaned. It was really disappointing.
I stayed here for work, on arrival check in wasn't until 2pm, which sometimes there's not much they can do. I needed to freshen up after a flight and the hot weather and go to work. So I used the bathroom in the reception area. So disappointing there wasn't a mirror and the sink did not look clean. Reception area does look nice and then it's very substandard elsewhere. The restaurant had closed also so I couldn't get a coffee at around 10am. I ended up putting on my make up in the car. The room had a sliding door and as I entered the curtain was all stained, so was the carpet and then the bath mat towel.....dark and dingy room with old decor from the 70's. It did not seem clean. The room was super hot with no air conditioning turned on. The wall was brick with lots of crevases for spiders. I found a dead huntsman in my room and as I have a terrible fear, I felt so unsettled and couldn't sleep. I woke up with a migraine. The restaurant was better with nice food and very friendly staff. This is the hotels only saving grace! The staff could not have been nicer, I probably seemed highly strung but I really could not relax in this place. I always stay in Accor properties around the world, it's pity that they would let this property be so run down. The manager there is superb and made my stay more bearable. Sorry to leave a bad review but Accor, you're charging enough per night where is the standard?!
