Pro: a lovely kitchen. Close to groceries. Traffic is terrible. Con: NO management on-site help (it's complicated: Unit 115 had NO beach or ocean view. View was parking lot or pool/hedge/next resort.AC in 1 /2 bedrooms; take out your own trash. Noise from above unit. We tried to change unit. Hawaiian Beach Vacations did not handle reservation; sub-let to another realtor. If we had a problem(Oh, let me count the ways!), we were directed to another easing group, who knew nothing about our situation. Because of med. emergency, we had to leave a week early. No reimbursement. Stay elsewhere.
Still have to check in at resort office next to Bullshed restaurant but check in process went smoother this year (thank you, Brian). We loved the ground floor with a view up north along the coast and nice air circulation from the trade winds. Clean, updated unit with efficient washer & dryer - previous guests even left us laundry soap and lots of pool toys in the closet (we did not use). Beds, pillows & bedding were really good quality. Endangered monk seal showed up on our 3rd day on beach right off our condos. Pool wasn't too noisy (except for a couple unsupervised kids screaming and running around a couple afternoons. If you insist on bringing children, PLEASE teach them courtesy for others and how to follow rules... or better yet, take them to the beach to play). Had first row seats for the Wolf Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse right out over the ocean! Was fun to experience it with nice folks from the other units. Only drawback is this room cost more than past years and included in cost was supposed to be one extra housekeeping at midpoint of our stay. They asked us to specify the date we wanted this -- and then- they never showed up! We needed toilet tissue, clean bath towels and paper towels (even though only 2 of us in a unit designed for 4)... had to call the office and finally they sent someone over late in the afternoon to take care of it. Would stay in this unit again - one of our favorites. we also liked the reserved parking spot that came with the room package.
We stayed in building B, which is behind building A, so no view of the ocean. Condo we rented was average, walls and mouldings could use a good scrub. Had most things we needed. Washer and dryer would have been nice (there’s hook ups for them in the bathroom). Some beach chairs that fold up and have straps to carry would be great too. The beach out front is terrible. I wouldn’t swim there, but there’s lots close by. The pools were really great, clean and quiet. 2 large BBQs for us to use. We had our own assigned parking which was good. Game room for everyone was good - ping pong, tv, couches, bathroom.
Nice property right on the beach. Close to grocery stores and restaurants. Two pools and a game room were nice. This is a condo without daily maid services. Would recommend. Very close to quaint Kasparov town.
We booked this as a blind deal through Hotwire and were not informed upfront about the cleaning fee ($120 for just 2 nights). Also check-in was not on-site but at neighboring sister property. That aside, the condo itself was quite comfortable and located in a very nice neighborhood with nice beaches and shops within walking distance. All the amenities including a good sized kitchen with utensils were available for us to prepare our own meals. There are swimming pools on-site and a small beach behind the resort. Overall, good choice but for the ridiculous cleaning fee.
My husband and I are currently staying in unit 204. The unit is a clean, well maintained one bedroom unit, with an office area that can be closed off and used as a second bedroom. The unit is comfortable and well appointed. There is an elevator at the back of the property where you park. On the right side of the building on the ground floor is a BBQ area. We had a nice ocean and pool view. We were on the right hand side of the building. The lanai does not get sun during the day. The beach is not accessible from the property but a short walk next allows you to access sand. Across the street you can find grocery stores, restaurants, etc.. This unit has laundry and free wifi. I would recommend this unit.
This is a condo rental, it is clean, and pretty well appointed. However, one great BIG thing you MUST know if you rent it! There is no office or check in desk on property!! You must go a block down to the ISO to check in. If we had arrived late at night we would have been sleeping in our rental car. We asked a housekeeping staff member where we go to check in. She was very nice to let us know what we needed to do. It is in a fairly convenient location, beach is NOT for swimming there. There was no hot water on our second day, and of course....you have to go a block down to the ISO....They also charge a HUGE cleaning fee that is not disclosed when you reserve.
Showed up after dark, very poor signage. When we arrived we drove around the “parking lot” looking for the office to check in. I had to ask someone standing in the parking lot on his phone where to check in, he stated he was having the same problem. Had to call a bunch of numbers before I reached a person only to discover we had to check in aba completely different property, were then told we had to pay a $125 cleaning fee (What!?) and then basically told good luck finding parking as there wasn’t any reserved for this condo, we May need to park at a neighbouring property. We managed to find acceptable parking and check open our condo... clean, decently update and thankful initially that it was on the first floor since there are no elevators. As the evening went on the noise became more apparent, from the highway traffic and the drunks stumbling home. I would not stay here again or recommend it.
We rented a ground-floor unit, but all were full when we checked in so we were stuck on the 3rd floor. No elevator. He is 76 with COPD and a bad hip. Not fun carrying our luggage up and down those stairs. Disposal didn't work, lights and fans worked sporadically, and no air conditioning. We had no idea how to check in because nobody told us to go to a building two blocks away for that. The gas was siphoned out of our rental car on day 2, so not the best area. Shopping was close, bed was comfortable, beach was inaccessible, service was poor, as was the overall quality of the unit. Expensive for what we got. Keep looking!
We booked at this hotel via AmericanAirlines 'powered by' booking.com. Got confirmation and booking was complete. A few days later, I got an email stating that the hotel would like to cancel the reservation at no charge. 'Would like.' So I said, 'No' because I felt it was a good price at a decent place and good location in the island. Fast forward... 5 days before we leave for Kauai, my family and I are excited. I call Kauai Kailani to learn where I can get the keys for room #218. The guy that answers tells me there is no booking for 218. We go back and forth and he keeps telling me that there are no booking for us. I'm floored and fired up at this point. I was trying to get clarification if only my booking was canceled or everyone's was canceled, but could not get it out of him. At this point there were no reason arguing with this man as he was useless, so I turn my focus into finding a room for my 2 children, wife, my mom and I. Fortunately - I was able to score an even better place for an even better price last minute on the next day. A BLESSING IN DISGUISE. But I still cant help think.. what if I never called them. I would have never known my 'booking' was canceled and we would show up and have no place to stay. what a nightmare. Shame on AA and Booking.com for doing business with shady hotels and shame on them for not doing their part to notify us that booking was canceled. Be clear that you want to cancel the reservation, don't make it an option. I do not recommend booking here. You can imagine why. If you have, call and follow up immediately. Good luck.
