I believe these condos are privately owned, so some details will vary, especially in terms of what sort of extras are provided, and how easy the owner/agent is to deal with. That said, our experience in K301 was superb. A well appointed, spacious 1 bedroom with vaulted ceilings, facing the ocean (read "quiet"). We especially appreciated that the kitchen had a few basics on hand - salt, sugar, oil, a few spices, as well as all the regular implements. Many condos we have stayed at you know the cleaning staff removes all these various useful goodies on turnover, and it's just annoying to buy only to use 10% and leave it. The bed and sleeper sofa were very comfortable, the bathrooms roomy and luxurious feeling, and the kitchen small but efficient and fully functional. We prefer to eat in for breakfast, and about half our dinners, and this worked out perfectly. The grounds are pretty and uncrowded, with a pool and BBQ for common use. Either we were especially lucky, or they go out of their way to keep the property quiet, so it was very relaxing. No annoying conversations you cannot escape going on and on. Easy walk to a secluded beach, with equipment rentals, and chaise longues for the guests of the condos. The beach is in a protected bay, and has without a doubt the best snorkelling I have ever experienced - better than diving. You're not allowed to feed the fish, so they don't swarm you, rather they just go about their business. More varieties than I've seen in one place, and quite good sized adults. There is a lot of coral in the bay, so you can just float out and feel like you're inside a tropical aquarium. I'm already looking forward to coming back.
We stayed in condo A204. we had 5 adults (2 couples and a single). The spacious condo with stunning views over the ancient fishponds and ocean was perfect for us. We all had comfortable rooms and ensuites. We cooked all our own meals so the kitchen was great. We used the pool. Only a few minutes walk from our condo and their were turtles basking on the beach. We snorkelled, walked and sat on the lanai having cocktails watching the sunset. It was a ten minute walk to foodtown. The only thing is it would have been good to have some foldup chairs and snorkel gear available for use at the beach. The wifi was excellent. The renovations at the mauna lani hotel were going on while we were visiting and we were concerned that the noise would detract from our stay. It wasnt an issue at all - the gardeners and lawnmowers at mauna lani being louder and more disruptive. This was a fantastic place for our family to stay. The location to local activities such as puako ramp for diving and manta snorkel trips was great, hapuna and other beaches a short drive away. we loved 49 black sand beach as well.
This was our second time staying at The Terrace Condos. This time, we were lucky enough to rent H302 privately. All I can say about this condo is WOW! It is one of the best places we have ever stayed. The view is outstanding and everything about the actual condo is first rate. I'm taking one star off the complex due to the noise level from the pool. Since we had been there before, I knew the pool was a quiet zone with signs posted that kids should not be running around screaming and jumping in the pool. Well, that was NOT the case for a full week while we were there. We were unlucky enough to be there at the same time as several large families that would take over the pool each day and at least 8 kids would run around, yell and do cannonballs. We just left the pool area since it was so noisy. I did complain to management but I don't think they did anything about it. Unless management decides to make renters adhere to the rules, we won't be coming back, maybe we'll try The Point condos instead. Note to people who plan on staying here with kids, take them to the beach club where they can run around and be kids. The pool is SUPPOSED to be a quiet, relaxing place.
We rented a 2 bdr condo for a week at Mauna Lani terrace in September 2017 and had an amazing stay. The unit was very spacious. It looked like they had not remodeled it in a while, but it looked great and I wouldn't change a thing about it. We had an ocean view overlooking the ponds and watched fish jump out of the water and gorgeous sunset every evening. The grounds are very nice too, with many trails by the ancient ponds. This resort doesn't seem touristy at all. Every day we walked with our infant son to a pretty little beach at Makaiwa bay, which has some great snorkeling. Also, as a Mauna Lani guest you get to use the lounge chairs at the beach, but don't forget to bring that beach club pass. One minor annoyance that we experienced is that despite multiple "no smoking" signs on the premises, we saw, on a few occasions, workers smoking when we walked by. They should've been informed about the "no smoking policy" at the resort either by the owners of the condo or the property management. Overall, we are very happy with our one week stay at Mauna Lani Terrace and would like to come back some time in the future.
The Big Island is our favorite Hawaiian Island and Mauna Lani Terrace Condominiums are our favorite place to stay. We like having a full kitchen, laundry facilities, a living room, porch, bedroom, 2 baths, view of fish ponds and ocean, and access to a great snorkeling beach. Groceries, great restaurants, coffee plantation tours, and interesting explorations (Hilo) are close by. Please keep them well-maintained because we want to come back soon!
We couldn’t have been more impressed..Condo J104 was over the top, beautiful. We loved EVERYTHING about that place. As the owners of our own Vacation Rental Beach House, we know how much work and constant attention it takes to keep a home of this caliber up, fully stocked & updated. The owners and management team have done an amazing job. I could write more, but you should really go experience mauna lani terrace condo #J-104 for yourself.
You are definitely paying for the view and not much else. The condo has not been updated at all. They claim to have new stainless steel appliances, however, a knob on the stove is broken off and why wouldn't you buy appliances that match?! The carpet is very industrial and not comfortable for bare feet. We found 2 rather large cockroaches crawling around in the condo!!! And ANTS...wow...no matter what, do not leave anything on the kitchen counters!!! We had to throw food that was still in the original package in the garbage because the ants got in it. We have stayed here before and thought it was very comfortable with no issues, however, this second time it was very disappointing. It would be nice if the management company would spend some money to upgrade the condo....also make sure you check to make sure the doors are locked as the patio doors were not locked when we arrived. Housekeeping doesn't do much except change the sheets and take your towels...most likely will not return.
Rodents in walls scratching and screaming all night. Management said it was part of nature. The views are spectacular and the beach an easy walk with good snorkeling. They said they are working on fixing that problem. I don't know if it is every building, but this wasn't the vacation we were hoping for.
We rented a unit through Kona Coast property management LLC. When we arrived in the unit, there was a rat trap in the living room of the condo. Last night at 4AM we were woken up by some animal clawing the inside of the bathroom wall. We called the management company. We were told the owner would not allow the wall to be opened, and that all of the units had rat traps in them because of the rat problem they have in the units here. They told us to call back if there is a problem tonight. Can you believe this? We were up from 4AM until we left to play golf. They sent someone over and they told us the owner wouldn't allow the wall to be opened, there was no noise when they were here. The guy said if it was something nesting it would probably start clawing again around the same time. Can't wait to find out what happens at 4AM to come. Rent through this company at your own risk. By the way, we spoke to other renters, there are no rat traps in their units.
We stayed at Mauna Lani Terrace 301E for five nights in December. The condo was clean, the bed very comfortable and the view is spectacular. The beach is beautiful, although you need to get there early in the day to get a chair. The pool has plenty of room. We spent a lot of time sight-seeing so didn't get much time to relax and enjoy the resort. It took me a couple of days to figure out some of the walking paths. The map we were given at check-in seemed like a copy of a copy, and hard to read. But that is minor and our stay was great. We will return if we have a chance.
