House keeping not up to scratch, had to call to get room cleaned as late at 13:30 even though we had left the room at 08:00. When room was eventually done it wasn't cleaned properly- had to call for house keeping again! Receptionist not very friendly and accomodating on check out.

We came here after a long haul flight from the U.S.. I booked Genesis because I knew we would all want to spread out and relax. Genesis did not disappoint. After a slight hiccup on checking in (at first they weren't sure they had a room for us...a bit nerve wracking after a long 20 hour flight) but once they got it sorted all was well. Room was spacious and clean. The building has two grocery stores, a restaurant and pizza place. We did not have to leave to go anywhere else for food which was nice. We flew out of J'burg the next day. We stayed here again before our flight back to the states. No issues checking in this time, great parking, again having grocery stores right there was very nice. They were also very nice in letting me mail some purchases I made on our trip to the hotel and they held them for me until our return trip. Make sure, if you drive, you have a gps to direct you. Hotel is in the "Jewish" section of J'burg and not close to the highway. Plan at least 20 minutes to airport.

My family and I spent six night at the Genesis All Suite Hotel in between travels during our recent holiday. The hotel is situated in a shopping centre with easy access to two supermarkets and other facilities, which is very convenient. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in a three-bedroom suite, which was very comfortable and clean. Very comfortable beds. The hotel offers complimentary wifi. The only downside is that each bedroom is only fitted with a blind, which allows the outside lights to shine through and makes the room light not allowing for darkness. One of the bedrooms has a glass window situated next to the lounge area and does not have any blinds so if people are sitting in the lounge with the lights on then the bedroom is very bright. It would be advisable to put blackout curtains on all the windows. The hotel offers free parking facilities, which is nice, however, the parking location was not explained and caused difficulties in finding the correct parking garage. After asking at the reception one of the porters got in the car to show mw where the parking garage was which was very friendly of him. The suites are not very cheap and it would be advisable to include breakfast in the price as the breakfast prices are not cheap. All in all a nice stay and highly recommended.

We stayed 5 days at this fine hotel. Big apartment with a lovely view towards the east. Cleaning and room service - perfect. The reception was a little "slow" and the only reason that Genesis dont get top marks.

Okay so I am sorry to leave an average review as the hotel room was really good. It was spacious. Two rooms, two bathrooms, family room, balcony, and kitchenette. Very clean. And I have no complaints there. And the bell man who helped us with luggage was awesome also. But the front desk staff (both at check-in and check-out) left a lot to be desired. Maybe because Johburg is rough around the edges and people are on edge all the time so it bleeds over into the psyche as we experienced a huge difference in customer service from Cape Town to Johburg but this was an important issue. We arrived at the hotel at check-in after a long flight with a toddler and had to wait a significant amount of time in the parking garage before someone would come and let us into the property. Then once we are at check-in we didnt really get any smiles or any pleasantries. But what really bugged me personally was that there was a playground right across the street from the hotel. I asked the front desk if it was safe to take my child there and without hesitation she said yes. Yet, all 2 days we were there I didnt see one single kid playing there and constantly saw adult males sitting their in groups just lurking. Now maybe I was being paranoid but after I observed it for 2 days I was so glad my son just crashed the first day because I was totally going to take him there right after check-in. There were quite a few houses around the area so you would think if it was safe there would have been at least one kid that would have come there with their parents but no one showed up. In addition, when we asked the front desk for nearby restaurant recommendations, they didnt really cared enough to help us and just named some area or street name. Moreover, they never told us that I don't think it is smart to go to a nearby restaurant at this time around this area. I say that because it was 7pm in the evening and we went to a place about 2kms away to pickup food and we didnt even see a single car or pedestrian outside. Even the person at the restaurant told us to quickly go back to the hotel and not to stop at any traffic lights etc. I know, I know Johburg isnt considered a safe city but at 7pm if I am asking front desk for nearby food recommendations a bit of advice would have been appreciated. We know that violent crime is high in Johburg so we know how to take common sense measures but didnt realize that at 7pm this hustling busling area would be a ghost town even to drive 2kms away. Lastly, at checkout the hotel's system was down so the key to go up to the suites was not working but this hotel checks the rooms before checking you out. So the lady at the front desk was having an argument with her colleague in her own language while we are checking out on why the system is not working and why he should figure out a way to go check the room etc. Very unprofessional. So while the room was great, I believe these things matter. I was just there for a short stay to catch my international flight and in the future I recommend paying the extra money and staying at the airport Intercontinental hotel. Jo'hburg is not the place to experiment with.

I was very satisfied with our stay. It is near the Netcare Linksfield hospital where my daughter had an operation. Staff is friendly and helpfull. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The 2 bedroom suite is perfect for a family.

There were 7 of us family members needed a place to stay for one night that was convenient to the airport. This 4 bed suite was absolutely outstanding. It was perfect and such incredible value for money. The restaurant downstairs served one of the best steaks we had had in a long time and breakfast was just perfect. Thank you. I cannot fault your staff at all, the booking process tho was painful.

This hotel is situated about 30 minutes from the airport, in Johannesburg. It's about 10-15 minutes by car to the main shopping areas of Sandton, Rosebank, Atholl, etc. The hotel is situated in a 7-story building, the tallest in the area, so you have great views. Rooms are great, clean, and bright. There is free (and good) Wi-Fi in the whole complex, two supermarkets, and a coffee shop. The hotel itself has a great grill house which serves three meals and snacks, outstanding food and very reasonable. They have just added a pizza bar as well. Larry the manager, and his staff, are superb. Local friends and family of mine make this a regular destination when they eat out. There is underfloor heating for winter, and recently air conditioning for summer. South Africa has electricity issues, and there are sometimes blackouts, but the whole complex has a generator which kicks in and you don't notice when power goes down. It's a great place to stay! The hotel is not centrally located, but there's no real "central" Johannesburg.

We stayed at the hotel in the northeastern suburbs of Johannesburg, for one night, after arriving on an international flight late at night. The hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the airport, attached to a suburban shopping center. The accommodation and the staff were amazing. Great check-in experience. Spacious luxurious 4 bedroom suite. When we checked out, we left a couple of items in the room, in error. Came back 3 days later, and they had our items set aside for us.

Spent a night at the Genesis Hotel straight from the airport, the hotel was of a good standard, clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and checking in and out was good. The location is a bit quiet, but within the hotel complex you have access to shops and a coffee shop which was good. We ate in the Bistro attached to the hotel in the evening, whilst the menu was basic the food we had was very good and good value. Overall I would recommend the hotel, its good value and good all round.
