We had a group of friends traveling through for one night but this was the worst place we've ever stayed. Nasty dirty furniture in the rooms and everything looks old. We were afraid to be outside because of people we assume were other guests that were approaching some of our friends wanting drugs. Hookers knocking on doors at night. Just a nasty place! Don't even trust the breakfast food. Just don't go near this place.
When you pull up looks can be deceiving! My family and I got in our room and the ceiling had 2 patches where the spray on "popcorn" texture was missing and there were hole. Then you look at the comforter and it looks as though it has seen better days! The bed was like sleeping on a hard trampoline. When you walk around in the room barefooted the bottom of your feet end up black. GROSS! The pools is shared with the hotel next door and someone staying in a room by the pool had an "odor" coming from their nonsmoking room. Within the first 30 min I highly considered going down the street to the Cabot!
Even though the people working here are friendly and attentive, the place is run down and could really use some sprucing up. Shabby is what it is. Thin towels, worn rugs and upholstery, and no newspaper offered in the morning. A quick in and out is all you'dwant. Smells like smoke in too many areas. The elevator needs cleaning big time.
Had it not been so late when I checked in, I would have left. I asked for a non smoking room, but the bedspread had burn holes and the room smelled like smoke. The only clean things in the room were the sheets and towels. When I pulled the knob to get in the shower, I thought the spigot was going to come out of the walk. The shower curtain had mold at the bottom, the coffee maker had toothpaste spit on the canister and the side of the brewing unit, the plug belonging to the hairdryer was filthy, so I used my own. I don't think the carpet had ever been vacuumed, under the sink vanity. The frigid and microwave were too grubby to touch, let alone use. I've stayed in many Quality Inns and this one could be the worst one yet. The breakfast was decent although they ran out of eggs for the group behind me. The hotel staff was lovely. I have only one star because of the rundown filthy conditions. The place needs a good power wash, paint and some deep cleaning. Check out the picture of the light switch and outlets.. Notice the XL sticker! It was included in the room, no extra charge!
I am a Diamond Elite member with Choice Hotels as I travel all over the continental US for work and I think it is a wonderful rewards program so I try to make a point to stay in their hotels. This one I can honestly say, will never see me again. I saw an old review about people selling drugs out of here and laughed, but then someone was knocking on my door at 2:30AM looking to make a "purchase" but they had the wrong room! Place was quite dirty (stains on a lot of stuff, sticky furniture, food crumbs on floor, etc.) breakfast items were about 25% stocked (and I was there before 7:30AM each day, they just didn't have the stuff to put out) and every day I came in from work my lights and TV were on and I made sure I turned it all off each day. To be honest, it is livable for a guy who is only there for a short period at night such as myself, but to speak in basic terms it is a dump overall. You can do a lot better in the area for $15 more a night. I had never tried it, but now I have and I just cant recommend it.
This hotel leaves a lot to be desired. There is junk (broken lamps, nasty soiled chairs, etc.) in the hallways which wouldn't be a big deal if the hotel was under remodeling but this hotel leaves you feeling like a hoarder is running the place. The room smelled gross which we believe could have been coming from the rotting food we found behind the refrigerator. The bed linens were ripped in places, lamp shades were cracked and broken in places, and the shower curtain (which was supposed to be the kind that bows out) was broken and hanging upside down so that the curtain only shut half way. BUT THE WORST was the roaches! I killed one that night on top of the microwave and the next morning my husband had to kill a big one walking along the shower wall. I will never sleep here again! I would rather sleep in my car. I have no idea how the breakfast is because I refused to eat anything coming out of that hotel. Spend the extra $20 and stay somewhere else.
First impressions are important so as we rode into the parking lot, it was a cause to pause....deserted Shoneys in front and deserted building on the side. Parkinking lot needs repairs all throughout. Checkin was quick, clerk friendly. Lobby beautifully decorated for breast cancer awareness month and spacious breakfast room. Our room 112 is average for motel. Did not have coffee maker, but did have cups. Did not have ice bucket. When asked at front desk, told that room doesn't have coffee maker and works get us icebucket, which they did. I/c worked great. We had double beds, mine was fine, husband did said his wasn't. In the morning, we noticed we didn't have a bath mat, but did have 3 towel sets, so used a towel. Breakfast was wonderful with fresh eggs and sausage, waffles, yogert and cereal. Other things available too. Saving grace... The price was great, member of Choice Hotels $51. There was a working elevator with carts available. First floor icemaker was not working. We did find ice at connected motel which shares pool with this hotel. Noise was at a minimum. There is a newly remodeled Wendy's on other side of deserted building, easy walk. Hilton is across the street. May stay here again, if in the area and if it's for one night....
For 12 years I have been coming again and again to the Quality Inn North whenever I am in town, Overall, it is the best value in town with all the amenities of a high-priced hotel. It's an older property so if you're looking for an immaculate new room you might try the Hilton right across the street at three times the price. However, the owner Sam takes pride in his place and keeps it clean. For families traveling on a budget, this hotel is well -patrolled by Ridgeland Police. Never have I seen any illegal activity and I feel completely safe at all times here.
We stayed overnight here for a night as we were passing through on a road trip. Found the hotel online for $70 and called the front desk and got $60 + tax. For $65 a night we had an acceptable large room, king size bed, and breakfast in the morning. The hotel and area felt safe. There is nothing to complain about for $65.
1. Greeted by a musty smell when I walked in the door. 2. Carpet felt gross underfoot (maybe that's why the smell). 3. Moldy Shower Curtain. 4. No fan in bathroom. 5. Ceiling looked like it was gonna cave in (bad patch work). 6. Old pillows needed to be replaced about 100 guests ago. The room seemed otherwise clean enough but I will not stay there again on my next visit to Ridgeland.
