Istanbul is a fabulous city. Fabulous people, fabulous food, fabulous everything. We loved our holiday. Except for this hotel. The breakfasts were good, the bed was comfy but the room was pokey and dark and the staff's attitude seemed begrudging. The water went off for some hours every mid-morning; not a problem had we been warned but we weren't and they were unapologetic. The various functions on the shower barely worked and there was a huge hole in the corner of the bathroom wall which let in noises from the next room. Most worryingly though, I found water dripping from the ceiling onto my head as I sat on the loo on the last day! My impressions of this hotel would, however, have been so much more favourable had the (all male) lobby staff only smiled and made us feel as if we were welcome!
We were 4 people and the suite we were given had 2 rooms but they were extremely tight. I seem to remember more roomy hotels on previous visits to the city but it has been a long time now. The decorations were heavily brocaded and perhaps traditional. The breakfast area was near the check in and it was a dark space, I did not find it relaxing to eat there. But location, location, location! We had 20 hours in the city and hit the ground running. We were able to log 20,000+ steps on the 7 hour endurance march that I inflicted on my husband and kids. Everything was easily reachable on foot from this hotel. We were the only people in the hotel when we stayed and the staff said that tourism is suffering this summer. It is a shame as Istanbul is still an awesome city!
Hotel is located in the old city of sultanahmet so it's walking distance to main attractions such as blue mosque, hagia sophia, etc. That's the best part. When we arrived at the hotel, the AC was not working in the entire hotel. It took them a day to fix this issue. Worst part is we were not told of this when checking in. 3 days later same issue happened again and it took them again a day to fix. On our last day the water was not running, took them 6 hours to fix that. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was below average. Stay at Lady Diana hotel right across, it seems to be much better.
Aaaah... Istanbul... so colourful, magical, enchanting, aromatic, noicy, alive, unique! The location of the hotel is perfect. You go out and in not more than three minutes, you`ll see the Blue Mosque and square, leading to Aya Sofia. We went with two friends, so we booked a family room, which is actually two rooms connected with a door. The rooms are clean and nice, decorated in typical Turkish style. They are a bit small, but the space is more than enough. We are not staying in the rooms, right?! The breakfast was great! There is a small buffet, prepared near the lobby of the hotel. If the weather is nice, you could even use the terrace, where you could prepare for your day and all the things you want to see in this amazing city. The stuff is very helpful and polite. They speak very good english and will assist you, if needed.
Amazing facilities, impressive bedroom views and delicious breakfast plus lovely staff and perfect location for a reasonable price. We have indeed enjoyed our stay at Lausos Hotel and would definitely stay there again if we ever come back to this beaufitul city. The place is very clean and looked after. 1000%recommended
Hotel nearby Istanbul's historical places such as Blue mosque, Topkapi palace, Grand Bazaar, Hagia Sofia & Hipodrome. For those who would like to go to Thaksim, Sultanahmet train station is just nearby the hotel. Easy to get food, there's a lot of restaurants nearby. Staff are helpful but room is too small, same menu for breakfast everyday & no complimentary drinks.
We had a great stay, booked by our travel agent. There's only one reception staff that can speak good english and he is very helpful, name is Harun. Location near the Hagia Sofya, Topkapi Palace & Tram station at the back of the hotel. Near the Sultanahmet area and restaurant is just nearby. Breakfast included, however they never change the menu. Menu is same for the past three days we were there. Room was small. BTW our room was enough to fit our own things. There is no complimentary tea or coffee provided. Overall, it is worth of stay for those who not really spend a lot of time in the room.
The staff was great here and the room was really clean and accommodating. However, it is up a steep hill, so beware. Fine for the physically able but not so fine for the physically challenged. And the location meant taxi drivers WAY overcharged for the return trip from down the hill. Breakfast (included) was quite diverse and the Turkish coffee delicious. But the coffee machine broke down as did the computer, so was unable to print out boarding passes at the hotel. The free wifi was fairly reliable though.
We had a terrific weekend visit to Istanbul! We arrived on an early flight but our room was ready and we were kindly welcomed. The staff, especially Mehmet, were so helpful as this was our first visit to the city. The room was clean and had a great view of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. We will definitely stay again if we ever return to the city.
This was a return visit for us and I have to say it is great to see some wonderful things in life don't change. From the hospitality of the staff, cleanliness of the rooms, outstanding breakfast and afternoon snacks it is an exceptional experience. We will revisit again soon!
