The hotel was clean, and we were given a complimentary room upgrade. Breakfast was good. The area around the hotel is full of attractions and busy streets with a lively, energetic vibe, especially for young people. The hotel design is nice, although it used to be better in the past. Parking is very difficult to find, and even taxis can only wait a few seconds for you because the area is so crowded. The staff were helpful, but their service could have been more professional.

Quirky industrial style hotel

Arrived slightly early so accepted the wait for a room. Returning some 2 hours later and into the check-in hours, room still not ready. A further 15 minutes wait. When allocated room was informed we’d been upgraded. Nice surprise. Getting into the room - can’t understand what the upgrade was. Nice size room, but dusty and slight smell of drain. Strange set-up to the bathroom where you need to pass through the shower to get to the loo. Comfortable bed. One TV channel in English which played the same news report on a loop for the couple of days we were there, really ridiculous. The key card indicated 24/7 room service which led us to believe we could order a meal at round midnight when we came to the room. Well- surprise- there’s 4 DRINKS on room service and NO food. Complained- and response was- order from outside. What the heck! Really unacceptable/ then state you’ve got no room service! Staff at front desk were friendly, which was a saving grace. Restaurant for breakfast was cozy and nice selection on offer including great omelettes. Very busy side street on which the entrance is daily had rubbish piled high- awful to have to trudge past it to get to the door. Surely this garbage can be moved away from the area, poor reflection on Hotel The Public. So - in summary- this can ge a great little place if little changes can be made. Location is just a minute from Istiklal Street, which is awesome.

I really enjoyed my stay! The location was perfect — very central and easily accessible to all the main attractions in Istanbul, whether on foot or by public transport. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything I needed. A special shoutout to Emin, Mert, and Nihat — they truly went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their kindness and professionalism made a big difference. The price was also very reasonable for the quality of service and location, which made the experience even better. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Istanbul, and I’d happily stay here again!

Noisy hotel

Rooms although a good design are very tired and need a face lift. Shower head in my room needs a proper clean and descale. Breakfast is very average at best. Staff helpful at reception. The nearby nightclub is very noisy with thumping music making sleep difficult!

PROS -Hotel is nicely decorated, they gave us a beverage upon check-in and communication was great between us and the hotel -Rooftop room was spacious and we surprisingly never hit our heads on any beams -Great location for shopping CONS -Bed was supposed to be a king, but it was not. It was bigger than a queen but it was an odd size. -Bathroom/shower area was VERY small. Could barely turn around inside the bathroom. Water leaked out from the shower into the toilet area. Detachable shower head was broken and had a leak between the handle and where the hose connected so it never worked. Smallest bathroom I've ever seen -Hotel did arrange our airport transfers but never let us know that it would need to be cash only when departing for our outbound flight the next morning. They did work with us but it would have been great to know this in advance since our transportation leaving for the airport was at 5 AM. -NOISE! Noise from the street below continued well into the night and this was on a weekday. It was mostly music from somewhere on the street (we were on the 5th floor) and it did keep me up throughout the night. -Rooftop terrace doesn't have too great of a view, but I expected that. The tiles could be cleaner out there.

I didn’t receive an upgrade because I don’t believe I was told about it in advance. So when I had the chance to check in early in a standard rate room I took it. Not know I was upgraded. Same with the wine. It was in the room but I wasn’t told it was for me. I thought I had to pay for it if I wanted it. It’s nice but you should let people know.

The day before arriving they switch our rooms to a building down the street with no lobby. They said the rooms we had booked had no windows, so while the new rooms had a window with a decent view, we were no longer in the hotel and had no lobby or facilities.

Amazing experience staying at Hotel The Public! The service was amazing, and they have a great breakfast offering. The location is perfect and a short walk from Taksim square. My recent stay at a purported 4-star hotel was nothing short of disappointing. I had booked a room measuring 22 sq. meters with a king-size bed, only to be assigned a significantly smaller room with a troublesome column obstructing the space. To make matters worse, the king-size bed advertised turned out to be a queen-sized one, and the hotel's explanation that this was a "mistake". Despite acknowledging their "mistake" the hotel agreed only to change the room, maintaining the queen-sized bed. Both rooms I occupied were dimly lit and fell short on cleanliness, with noticeable cobwebs in various corners. The second room presented additional issues, as it suffered from inadequate drainage in the shower, causing water to pool and making access to the toilet a soggy ordeal. The ill-fitting glass door separating the shower from the toilet exacerbated the problem, resulting in more water spilling into the toilet area. Towels provided were showing signs of wear, and bathroom storage space was lacking. Breakfast was another letdown, missing pastries and charging extra for fresh juice. In summary, this hotel failed to live up to its 4-star billing. I strongly advise considering alternative accommodations if possible. The experience was marred by false advertising, cramped and poorly maintained rooms, substandard cleanliness, and a lackluster breakfast. It was a far cry from the expected comforts of a 4-star hotel.
