Istanbul Marriott Hotel Asia5.0 out of 5.0

We had a phenomenal one night stay here. The food and the service were excellent. Betuhan at the front desk was especially helpful and friendly. The room was a great value for the price. The only reason this is not a 5/5 review is due to some cleanliness issues in the room upon check-in. But please don't let that stop you from staying here. I highly recommend it.
We spent two nights here. You get standard Marriott fare, ie large, clean, well equipped rooms; nice bathrooms; very good food; and excellent service. You cannot go wrong with this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would return any time. Commendable!
I usually stay at SPG properties but decided to give this marriott a try. Booked with points and had a flight delay. Contacted the hotel multiple times and was told not to worry but when i checked in the reservation was no active. They told me i got an upgrade but my room is old and the internet does not work. I ask for the premium internet and was quoted a 9 Eur fee .This is the first time i go to a hotel and they ask me to pay for the internet. Really a bad start. Tried to call to speak to a manager and they say told me he was busy and there were no other rooms available so i have no other options than to stay. Never again
We spent 3 nights there. Friendly staff, clean lobby and rooms. Unfortunately all pools except the indoor pool were closed - the indoor pool urgently needs renovation, the Jacuzzi was cold. Also outside it looked not like the Marriott standard we are used to (see picture from my room attached). There is room for improvement.
This is one of the better Marriott hotels that I have stayed in. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast buffet was great with plenty of choice. The bedrooms are very comfortable with all expected features. The bed was very comfy. The only issue ( which is not the hotels fault) is the noise from traffic on the surrounding roads where drivers insist on constantly beeping their horns!
More than you need for a business trip to the Asian side of Istambul, room are large, the gym is one of the best in the region and the staff is really friendly and helpful and breakfast menu is good, what else you need?
I’m a marriot platinum member and a very very fussy one so usually I don’t write reviews because I am very critical and sometimes think that perhaps my standards are too high and that maybe it is unfair to expect my standards to be the norm but this hotel proved me wrong!! First time In Istanbul, I travel regularly about 12 present care trips a year of more internationally so I think I’ve seen it all. I had a horrid night the previous day at another major chain and was happy to check out hoping for something better at Marriott. This hotel outperformed all my expectations s. First the staff. I don’t know if it’s the Middle East culture of hospitality but these staff where unbelieveble. Firstly I was upgraded as per platinum guest to the executive floor. I was given a double upgrade because it was my friends 60th birthday. The room itself was immaculate. It was cleaned to check in standard every single day. I never saw the cleaner it was as if they knew exactly when you left and as soon as you went out they cleaned the room to perfection and “disappeared”. They would fold neatly anything you left out into a perfect pile and they turned down both beds every night without fail and closed the blinds. They had a fantastic array of toiletries which they changed every day for the six days I stayed there which included everything you could think of from bath salts, bath foam, comb, toothbrush set, mouthwash the works! There was a shuttle to take you to the nearest shuttle available anytime and everything I asked for I received within Thirty minutes even a pair of scissors to do some sewing. Nothing was too much and if you asked any staff for anything they would immediately drop whatever they weee doing and accomplish your task and then return to their work. The executive lounge was fantastic and open till midnight. We did not order any food for six days because between the excellent breakfast buffet (which varied daily) and the lounge we were fully fed. The lounge had a full range of soft and hot drinks and cocktails and all other wines and stuff and desserts and hot meals. It was on the 22nd floor which gave a lovely view of the Asian side of Istanbul. When the staff do not understand you eg non doeaking staff they “rush”to get the nearest English speaking staff to assist you. I remember trying to get a waiter to understand that I wanted some butter with my bread bun (there was none on the menu but I was getting used to getting away with murder by now). I kept trying to explain but he kept broke no Nig something different. Then all of a sudden he brings a tablet and asks me to type in the item in English he presses a button and it translates to Turkish he smiles and dashed off to bring me a whole plate of butter for my one bread roll. Every evening after that day till I left as soon as I walked in he came to my table greeted me and brought me a dish of butter! The other exec waiter knew I always ordered a cappachino with my afternoon snack and as soon as I walked in he would confirm and bring it over. Every single day of my stay was pampering Nig and more pampering. Nothing was too much and they were constantly smiling and EAGER to help. I had the opportunity to use their spa. It was a bit on the high side but the treatments were heavenly and very professionally done. I was bent on having the hamman and experience before I left and they did an excellent job. The reception staff helped with my sightseeing trips and were always on hand for any advice that we needed. Usually when you write a review you can single out exceptional staff but believe me in this hotel every single individual was incredible!!! All the activities were on the European side (old Istanbul) so I had quickly realised that most tourists were on that side and this place was frequented by business people mostly. I had initially purposed to book a hotel on the European side next time but by the time I was very sadly packing to leave I knew that as long as I or anyone I knew was coming to Istanbul it would be at the MARRIOTT ASIA HOTEL. Of course they gave me a wake up call and 4.30am for my 5.30am departure to the airport and took the liberty of packing a take-away breakfast for me since the breakfast buffet commenced at 6.30am and they did not want me to leave hungry! So a big thank you to ; 1. Halon the manager who checked me in! ( I was grumpy irritated and on edge after my previous lousy night at a competing chain when I had not slept) I was shocked by his professionalism throughout. He was dignified, polite and carried himself so well I was forced to calm down and then he checked me in quickly and into a superior room so that was immediately relaxed. 2. Barbados - the duty manager always helpful. I had called him the previous night in my misery trying to ensure that this new hotel would be better than the one I was in where I could not sleep nor flush the toilet. He assured me he would try his best to get me the best room possible at check in and he did. 3. Ezgi- on reception, always trying her best to be helpful while staying professional 4. Oya- in the spa ; great lady ,Oya and her girls nearly pampered us to death in the spa with their VIP Spa t treatment. I for one felt like a princess when I finished. 5. Murat Kurti “the smoking waiter” when I was trying to ask someone for his name I told her the waiter that is always smiling, they immediately knew who it was. 6. Mirat- I think this was the disappearing angel who did my room every day. I wish I had known before check out that it was the saw person. Thank you mirat you are a wonder I owe you a box of chocs next time i am in turkey.
I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights visiting from the UK on Business. I’m a regular Marriott visitor, but I have to say that I booked this hotel because a colleague was staying here. Overall, it lives up to the Marriott brand. The rooms are clean with a great bathroom and ‘bathroom condiments’. In the room I had there was a king size room, desk, comfy chair, iron & board and mini bar. There were also two bottles of complimentary water which was renewed daily, which was a welcomed touch. The gym is on the third floor, which was very good. It wasn’t a token effort, it had many running machines, rowing machines, free weights and weight machines and was spread over about 4 or five different rooms. I didn’t have time to try the indoor pool, steam room or sauna, but they looked as you’d expect. There is also an Executive Lounge, but not being a Gold member at the moment I didn’t visit- but these are great for free food and drink if you have the status or want to pay extra for. Breakfast was everything you would expect with the food ranging continental, cooked, cereals, patisserie, etc. Most travellers should have no issues here. For evening meal you have the hotel ‘Orange’ restaurant which offered great food for reasonable prices and to a greater degree of finer dining standard. I’d recommend the lentil soup for 16L and the somewhat spicy beef penne pasta for about 44L. They also serve alcohol (remember Turkey is predominantly a Muslim country, although they are a very accepting country, which is the great appeal for Turkey) a bottle of reasonable wine costs 130L. A draught beer cost 26L. Outside the hotel there are 2 other restaurants I tried and was very happy with. Go out and left down the pavement about 100 metres there is a nice restaurant with an open air seating area which serves good Turkish food and alcohol and if you cross the road here travelling further down, just past the fuel garage there was another restaurant which serves great Turkish food, but no alcohol (but well worth a visit). Other advice: You need a Visa to enter Turkey but you can buy this at the airport just before Passport Control for $20.50, although they didn’t openly check this (the machine I got it from didn’t provide a receipt), but I wouldn’t risk not getting one!! Transfer from Ataturk Airport to this hotel can vary. Getting one from the many firms at the airport cost a colleague €80 (415L). I got a pre-booked transfer for €50(250L). However, for the return I booked a taxi through the hotel reception for 130L which was added to my hotel bill. Might be worth asking if hotel could get you a taxi if possible for the inbound trip, or use this fact of it costing only 130L when haggling your transfer. I travelled at peak time and it took 2 hours, but at 4-5am with no traffic it took only 40mins. Most taxis I took seemed to be billed on time, not distance, and the traffic can be extreme during the day. I hope you find this all helpful.
The rooms are big, spacious and comfy! The staff is always smiling and helpful. Good breakfast and we even got a coffee to go while checking out early! The only thing which I can complain about is the WiFi. In the rooms it’s not that strong and sometimes you have no internet.
Great hotel. Conventional bar/lounge. Very nice breakfast with a lot of choice. I spent few days for a recent business trip: good stay... even if rooms are a little bit "oldschool" for me. Waiters helpful.
