I know the work men and woman are good here but the hotel is very very very basic and uncomfortable. We did not pay large amounts of money but the basic needs are never given here. The big big problem is the room. Basic and poor room. The bed tempered me when I was in Army. The smell in the room and the heat without air conditioning was very bad. Next time maybe we stay in a tent and save the money for some thing else. Internet? NO Internet. One email one hour to send.
We absolutely loved our trip to Holbox in February; the island is active without being crowded and there were plenty of opportunities for quiet contemplation. Villas Delfines was a beautiful cluster of palapas steps from the warm and shallow ocean. The rooms were comfortable and very clean and we felt virtuous as a result of the solar hot water and composting toilets (not smelly!) The breakfast was good, but somewhat bread-heavy; I usually supplemented with eggs and fruit. The only black mark was that the pool was closed for the first day and a half of our visit, which was a near tragedy to our 9 yo. The hotel staff were apologetic, but we were a little bummed. Otherwise, it was a perfect spot to stay and we will return soon!
I can absolutely say that I will be returning to Holbox island, its unique and beautiful, the water is crystal clear, and i mean completely transparent and beautiful. The people everywhere that we went to were friendly, on the streets, in the restaurants, we got along very well. On the other hand, I was a bit cautious of the hotel when my partner booked it, the comments from guests seemed good enough, but the photos I wasnt so keen on. As I suspected, the hotel is very very simple, the basic necessities are covered style. Our room was basic, the breakfast included was even more basic, they have environmental conserving policies with solar panels and water heaters that we praise, but that dont deliver as we thought they would.
We spent a couple of days visiting Holbox and stayed at Villas Delfines. It is a really eco-hotel, but with all the comforts. the grounds are lovely, birds and lizards sunbathing in the pool in the early morning and lovely hammocks and parasols to lounge in before a dip in the crystal clear sea. Ricky at reception was super helpful and accommodating. He gave us great tips for dinner (el crustaceo cascarudo, a bit out of the touristic square) and was always quick to resolve any problems we had (like the extra person who came with us last minute and we hadn't counted in our original booking) overall a great stay in holbox and villas Delfines
You just get the bare necessities here. A room with a bed, a shower and a basic breakfast in the morning. Did not like the eco-toilet situation! Thought I'd embrace the idea but just felt too primitive to me. The beach was the saving grace and my boyfriend and I had a relaxing time just chilling and enjoying some time together. Staff are friendly enough but in retrospect I would have booked somewhere more sophisticated had I realized just what it was like here.
The bungalows are well equipped, privately spaced in a tropical garden. good restaurant run by an italian chef & nice and helpful staff. Very close to the beach, great and strong cocktails and a clean pool. Very recommendable!
Still a little shell shocked over this place. Forget comfort when you check in here. It's super basic and not very clean. Uncomfortable for the entire week we were here. Beach is great but as far as accommodation goes this place is a bad excuse for a hotel. Staff not very sympathetic either.
In this hotel there is no smile or saying hello and you just get a key and that is the best service they offer. The reception workers are more spending time on phone than giving use full information for guests. The rooms are clean but basic and old. Pay more and next time will be staying in a better hotel.
Loved the idea of the eco hotel but the hotel needs a lot of TLC. Our bed was very uncomfortable and gave my partner bad back. Staff play the cool friendly characters but we didn't go there to make friends, instead we expected quality service. The breakfast was nothing as expected and it was more like a limited version of a B&B.
Great pool, superb beach, lovely people. Nice airy rooms. Very clean and nice no-flush eco toilets! Ask for the front desk to have someone turn on the boiler for your hot shower, otherwise, a bit cool.
