Built in 1672 using stones salvaged from Cromwell’s fort, this unique townhouse has a rich story to tell. Once a safe haven for Jacobites fleeing the Battle of Culloden, it’s now a welcoming, family-friendly home - fully equipped and ready for your Highland adventure. Whether you’re here for a cosy city break or to explore the wider Highlands, Jacobite’s Retreat is the perfect base, with Loch Ness, the NC500 and countless iconic sights within easy reach.

Just a two-minute stroll from the River Ness, you’ll be spoiled for choice with local cafés, wine bars, whisky-tasting spots and independent shops right on your doorstep. Inverness train and bus stations are only 3–5 minutes away on foot, offering easy connections to Inverness Airport and beyond.

Clean. Comfortable beds and linens. A unique stay in an old home, nicely updated on the inside. Location is fantastic. Easy walk to many restaurants and pubs. Just one block from the River front with nice walks up and down the River with beautiful views. Some happy noise as people returned from being out for the evening - not bothersome

Nothing Better than Jacobite's Retreat!

I cannot say enough good things about this property and the owners. They are so responsive. They allowed us to checkin early. They communicated with us on two separate occasions. We messed up the hot water unit, and were so patient and helpful getting it restored. We were a lot to deal with and they helped us around every corner. The location could not be better.
