Decent hotel that has a bit of an old world charm about it. Rooms are reasonable and quiet (clearly had new doors and frames fitted to achieve this). They are not modern however with red marble floors and lots of brown Formica style drawers and closets. The rooms are not fancy but do the job. The Central Cafe however feels steeped in history with stories within the walls to be told. I had dinner when a jazz band played and it was excellent. The music was great and the crowd was into it, applauding regularly and thoroughly enjoying the performance. A perfect fit for the “bygone era” that the cafe seems to represent. Overall, a really enjoyable experience. It’s a kind of what you make if it hotel.

To start with the positives, the service was great and the location was walking distance to the old town. I also thought their top floor spa and deck were really cool. Other than this, I did not love this hotel. The design of the hotel space including the lobby and room felt very basic sort of 70s feel. The historic cafe felt historic and grand but that style did not continue to the hotel itself. The room was basic with a bathroom very small with a bad plastic shower. I went in October so I had to keep the window open to stay cool, but then my sleep was disrupted from loud people on the street.

We loved our large loft room and the central location of the hotel. We would definitely stay again. Being an older building, the soundproofing is really bad, having to lock the door with a physical key from the inside when returning and the outside when leaving was a hassle, and the shower water pressure could be improved. But having said that, the spaciousness of the room we had, the view, and the service were great. The beds were also very comfortable.

Loved the location - the beds and rooms were extremely spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is fantastic (hot and cold options). Only critique is the shower does not have a door so you either flood the entire bathroom or have the pressure SO LOW that you think the shampoo will never wash out. But overall, absolutely would stay again - excellent staff, rooms and location
