First, I had an overall pleasant stay here. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean, and the few other guests there at the time were fun to talk to. Second, I was able to use buses to get around to a certain extent, which was a big moneysaver as opposed to car rental or Uber. You can get here from the airport in an hour and twenty minutes with one change at the Indy central terminal, so long as you don't mind the rather torn-down look of the other bus patrons. It cost $1.75 for each bus separately. Third, a few things at this hostel surprised me. I followed self check-in instructions that were emailed to me as best as I could, but I didn't need the keypad combination because the door was unlocked. Further, there was no lock at all on the room of the female-only dorm. And there was no hand soap in the upstairs two bathrooms. One of the other girls bought some for one of them. Meanwhile, nobody had left a towel for me, and nobody showed up even to require me to finish paying until the morning the next day. I didn't know he was an employee because he never identified himself as such and was just sitting on the couch using his phone. I finally figured it out and asked him if he wanted to charge my money and if they had any towels. The owners showed up later to do some work on the property, and I mentioned the lack of hand soap. They went out on other errands and came back, but by the time I left the next day there was still no hand soap.
Nothing fancy, but very friendly people and a comfortable environment. It was definitely worth the price.
Respectful really and quiet when sleeping would recommend to anyone coming to Indianapolis IN needs a place to stay for a good price
The Indy Hostel really felt like home. The urban neighborhood felt quiet with a city pulse that was just the right speed. The staff was warm and friendly the hostel was clean and spacious. It's nice to share with fellow travelers now and then as opposed to a formal environment.
Hostels are not our cup of tea. Key code on house but no locks on bedroom or SHARED bathroom. Was an experience I will not do again. Was not located in a very good neiborhood. Had to park on the street and was not very comfy with that.
Not treated very well. Just not my kind of situation.
Compared to hostels I've visited in Europe, this was cleaner and less crowded. Rooms were spacious. Water pressure was good.
The staff that works at the Indy Hostel are warm and friendly. The owner is super nice.

First of all thanks for staying with us. We have adjusted our lock situation by replacing with new hardware. We do have soap for the dishwasher, the kitchen sink, and our laundry. I am sorry we didn't get the soap for the bathroom replaced for you. Safe travels and hope you come back soon.
