I stayed at the Sonesta Essential in Plainfield (Indianapolis area) for 4 nights, and unfortunately the experience was very poor. During my entire stay, my room was never cleaned, not even once. No housekeeping service, no trash removal, nothing. In addition, the hotel repeatedly used the common areas and breakfast area to conduct staff meetings, trainings, and even meetings with contractors. This created constant disruptions and made the shared spaces uncomfortable and unwelcoming for guests. To make matters worse, the smell of strong cleaning chemicals in the hallway outside my room was overwhelming and lingered for long periods, to the point of being unpleasant. Overall, this did not meet the standards I expect or from a hotel at this price point. Based on my experience, I do not recommend staying here.

Staff was never present at the desk… waited for 5min when checking in only to have the woman come from the back, still on her phone, to check us into our room. The shower had mold and rusty metal door frames, taking a bath was not an option without a hazmat suit. The floors were lopsided and loud, we could hear the music from four rooms down until 2am. The free breakfast was of questionable hygiene at best. Dirty coffee cups (were they reused… or just a decade old pulled from storage)? It is a shame because the building looks like it was very nice when first built but has had very little or no investment put into its upkeep or maintenance. I guess for the price it makes some sense but there are other discount hotels in the area that are much better kept and of a much higher value… I am not sure how this hotel received 3 stars, perhaps earlier in its life but the rating needs revisiting given the establishment’s current state and staff.

This was the last minute booking because of weather conditions. I don't know how full the hotel was, but the staff was courteous, the hotel room was quiet, I thought it was a terrific value for the price. I wanted to plug in my cell phone on the bed's nightstand, The only option was a power strip on the floor. If you have a lot of electronics there are plugs scattered around the room. For me this was a very minor issue.
